headbonk.gif I knew that! I've heard that they want three years of IRS transcripts to prove income. However, they'll accept a letter from your employer if you've been there that long. Basically they want three years of financial records from the USC.

I'm curious about this too. I'll be going to the Montreal embassy. Do you know if they want three years as well here?

I think so, but I'm not sure. I wish I had more details...it doesn't say it's required in packet 3 (which I think is completely unfair! What if you aren't part of a community like VJ?) but I've heard of people being told to get it. Apparently it's easy to request a transcript from the IRS. Hopefully it is fast, too because I haven't requested mine yet!

Nah, you'll need to bring it with you to the interview is my understanding. It's also not really important to have the last three years as it is to have the last year (which is good coz my SO only has the last year). All they want to know if the USC is able to support the foreign fiance NOW, not if he/she was able to do this 3 years ago ^^

It's good to take 3 years with you but it isn't needed if you cant supply it. Or that is at least my understanding smile.gif

Ok, thanks. I'll let my fiance know about this and ask him to make a request for 3 years. I guess it's better to be safe than sorry! Probably won't hurt either if we can show them 3 years even if they ask for less.

I've heard this is something specific to at least the Vancouver embassy that they require three years. Maybe someone exaggerated the situation, but I've definitely heard that Vancouver wants three years.

I started this thread on my birthday back in February when I was 30 days after filing and feeling that I was going nowhere fast. With approvals starting over on the VSC side I really felt alone and left out of the excitement. I never imagined that we'd hit the 100 page mark when this started, but when I look back over the last 2.5 months I really see the sense of community and support that makes this website worthwhile. Now this thing has a true life of its own and I'm just happy to contribute. If it wasn't for you fellow journeyers I don't know how I would have made it this far in one piece. What a great birthday present! good.gif

I agree, that's a great thread you started there! good.gif
I know I am not one of the really active posters here, but I go on that thread almost everyday! I just found amazing to realise you're not alone in that process, and to see that everybody is trying to help, and is happy for every new approvals!
I wanna say thanks to the "regular" posters here, and also to you Blake for that list you always update!! I was for a while one of the quiet readers, but it is with people like you, that we get informations, and most important support when we're feeling down! smile.gif
Even if I am not done with my visa process, I wanna say you guys are great!!! biggrin.gif

hmm.. if thats the case, then my SO and I will basically be in trouble... she only filed last year as she was still a student before that :S

I can't believe it will be like that tho, I mean, what do all the people have to do who haven't filed taxes for three years? I think it must've been some exaggeration indeed, it would be weird if you need it and can't provide it lol

Hurreyyyyyyyy!!!! We got our NoA2 Approval. Actually the first one of the three touches was the approval date. USICS dint update our case status on the website.

Can anyone tell us how to find whether the case reached NVC?

I believe shes is asking what happens to us specifically - K1 holders. Adjustment of Status, which we are required to file in order to work, gives us a two-year conditional green card, does it not? So I guess that would make us green card holders.

If we don't file Adjustment of Status within the 90 days, we're out of status - does that mean we can technically be deported? I've always been curious...

im confused about it too...cus i thought, that the K1 beneficiaries will be given an SSN when we go to U.S. so we can work while were there.. but ive always been curious if someone will ask me of my status when im already there..what wud i say... especially to the employers..

It's very important that you use the guides here, there are examples of the documents that will be needed for the interview phase. A good idea is to go to the website of the US embassy in New dehli and read about their interview process. Each country (or oonsulate) seems to have its own slightly different way of handling things. The embassy reviews on this site also a good to give you a flavor of what you can expect on the day of the interview.

You have to call the NVC to find out. Generally it takes a couple weeks.

It's not the SSN that allows you to work, it is the work authorization (the so called Green Card) which allows you to work. Employers are required by law to have you complete a form when applying that proves that you are eligible to work (it's called an I-9) and it is required for all employees. Basically this form is used to make sure the employer is only employing someone who is authorized to work in this country. You will need various documents to complete the I-9 but (including a SSN) you will definitely need the Green Card.

If you can bring the three years do it, the affidavit of support is exactly that, and the USC has to show that they can clearly support the foreign fiance. This is one area where overkill is better than the bare minimum, in my opinion. they look back three years to see if there is a trend in earnings and/or consistency in employment. There are lots of people who haven't been working because of school or other factors that show less than three years of financial history - but many of those "just starting out" folk also have co-sponsors.

Congratulations RagSwat! biggrin.gif

That's another reason I'm quite glad to have a co-sponsor; Alex has only been working full-time for a year and he wouldn't have been able to provide me with more than one year's tax transcript. I was concerned about having enough evidence to show that he could support me.

Just double and triple check the documents and proof of relationship items you will need for the interview...wish we would have done that (at least about the UK police certificate)...

You'll do great!!!

One of the things they have the right to ask for is the original documents that you copied and sent in with your inital I-129f filing. They don't do this often, however, they can and sometimes do ask for it. If you are not going to the interview then you might want to send these originals to your gal before the interview, just in case. Otherwise, have everything very well organized, indexed and labled just like you did for the initial application. The former east bloc types tend to be fanatics about organization. Make sure the translations are also stamped as accurate by a qualified translator - this is no time to use friends and save a couple of dollars. The good thing is, that if you have the paperwork in order you are almost always approved with very few questions even being asked. Good Luck, I know she will do very well. good.gif

I sent my original Birth Certificate. Hopefully that will be enough. I did not send the original boarding passes, bus tickets, passport, etc..

As for the translations, I don't think we needed anything translated. We sent chats and emails that were in Hungarian, but I felt we did not have to spend hundreds of dollars to get hundreds of papers translated.

I miss something?

A little bit.... The only thing that needs translation are Her birth certificate, police certificate, and other official documents that she brings to the interview-the cost shouldn't be more than 20 dollars. these would need to be translated from Magyar to English. Check and double check the embassy website for instructions - and follow them exactly. As for the chats, don't worry those wouldn't need to be translated. I think you should be ok on the other stuff but know that they can ask for the original boarding passes if they have a question as to you two having met - but this is a slight chance and one honestly I have not heard requested.

Hi guys,

I wanna knw a couple of things, my 1st question though I had asked already I wanna clarify again: My fiance (USC) who filed the petition is still doin her under graduation and working part time. hence she cant show any tax returns or assets. so her dad is co-sponsoring me. so is it possible to shw zero support frm my fiance and cover the whole 125% by the co-sponser? what should I tell the interviewer in tht case?

secondly I am about to complete my masters degree (Wireless Network Reseach) from singapore and i wanna find a job asap in CA after i land. what is the shortest way to get an employment authorization?(some say if at JFK they readily provide temporary EAD for 3 months).

third, i wanna knw if i can start applying for jobs right away or shud wait for EAD which will take sme 6months frm now if things go smoothly.

fourth, i am currently in india and i want take vaccinations n medicals now itself. if the interview is 2months frm now, do the medical cert still hold good?

Thanks

I the sponsor filled in the I-134 with no support at all and had it notarized.. and my dad the co-sponsor filed a notarized I-134 with all the support along with 3 years tax returns, letter from employer, paycheck stubs and bank statement. My fiance just told the interviewer that he has a co-sponsor and there was no problem at all. they took my I-134 and my co-sponsors I-134 and only looked over the co-sponsors.

secondly I am about to complete my masters degree (Wireless Network Reseach) from singapore and i wanna find a job asap in CA after i land. what is the shortest way to get an employment authorization?(some say if at JFK they readily provide temporary EAD for 3 months). shortest way is to fly to JFK but thats not even promised and you have to get a SSN before most employers will consider you. but with the temp EAD if you get married right away and file AOS/EAD you might get your EAD before your temp one expires. you could always file EAD right when you get here and it takes about 2-3 months to be approved but filing it separately will cost extra.

third, i wanna knw if i can start applying for jobs right away or shud wait for EAD which will take sme 6months frm now if things go smoothly.not sure about this one.

fourth, i am currently in india and i want take vaccinations n medicals now itself. if the interview is 2months frm now, do the medical cert still hold good?the medical is good for 6months or a year.. i forget which but you'll be fine.

OMG The Cure was AMAZINGGGGGG! They played for 3 hours and Robert was so cute and happy and dancing about even though he was quite rambly into the mic and getting pissed with stuff not working properly haha! They did soooo good! So worth the money and drive etc....They played almost all of Distengration and Boys Don't Cry then of course all the popular songs and several of their new songs coming out this month. It was really a GREAT show and I was pretty darn close up!

CONGRATTTTSSSS Ragswat!!!!

I am so unsure if I wanna do a co-sponser or not....I am scared if I don't though of having to scramble to get it all covered so may have to do just so we are covered in that respect. I believe I am right at the cut off point so better safe than sorry! My so-sponser needs a letter from employer too though or just a notarized support form?

Glad you enjoyed the Cure!!!

as for the co-sponsor.. I'm pretty sure, the co-sponsor needs all the supporting evidence (letter from employer, 3 year tax returns, bank statements, paycheck stubs) along with the notarized I-134.

I had a co-sponsor and they asked for paycheck stubs from my co-sponsor.

Sounds like you had a fantastic time, sunnybear!

Kelly - thank you for your answers. This is all very handy to know! smile.gif

Looks like we'll be getting married on the 27th December. I'd have preferred the 29th but as Alex's mother pointed out that's a Monday and would be more awkward for her side of the family to attend. My family and friends are actually quite excited at the prospect of spending Christmas in California.

Good Morning everyone. It's been a quiet weekend but that's ok, since the mail service seems to be the primary method of notification these days I think it will be monday or tuesday before we have all of last weeks approvals. The good news is that the first remaining January filer is now 45 on Igor's list and that all January filers are now 100 or lower. This week should be a good one for us - let's hope for at least 20 approvals. Anyway, here is the list to start out the week:

Looking at last year's stats, I'm hoping for more like at least 40 approvals lol

Good Morning All! biggrin.gif

40 wouild certainly be nice - but what i meant was at least 20 January approvals. The CSC has done a pretty good job cleaning up the November and December filers so the focus should really turn to January filers over the next couple of weeks. About 1 in 3 January filers have been approved, which I think is pretty cool so far. The only problem I see on the horizon is the memorial day weekend next weekend. The CSC, I think, has shown itself to go on vacation early, and be slow to return to work after the holiday. Last year we saw the same dip in productivity around the holiday weekend. That is why I hope this week is particularly strong for approvals. Good Luck everyone.

Good luck on the interview today, don't be nervous just be confident that if it is the right job for you, then you'll get it. Positive energy ray is now pointed at you!! good.gif
JeroenAndMichelle
@sunnybear: good luck on your interview!

@blake: how about at least 40 january approvals then? That'd be awesome (but also something I don't really count on).

I agree on the memorial day weekend, last year indeed showed a bit of a dip sad.gif

Good luck for the interview! Just relax and let things flow. Indeed, if it's meant for you, you'll get it! smile.gif

Hey, isn't USCIS supposed to update their timelines sometime this week? I hope CSC opens the floodgates to get going full throttle with us January filers. I'm so impatient now, lol.

Congratulations Cecile, that is great news! Now you'll have something to work on until the work authorization comes through good.gif
Alex & Rachel
Awesome news, Cecile! Ooh...your own apartment; much, much better than the prospect of lodging with his friends! And you'll get to furnish and decorate it together, too.

I think everyone grows impatient once you're about that 100 mark on Igor's List! I presume USCIS will update their timeline soon, but I really hope they finish off a few more October/pre-October filers first! It must be so incredibly frustrating to drop off Igor's list altogether!

Also: Good luck sunnybear with your interview!

Another sleepy Monday, what's with these guys in Cali? When I explain to friends and family about the process and I mention the difference in processing times between applications sent to Vermont vs. those sent to California they always come back saying the same thing: "What, your suprised?" Guess not.....

Hellooooooo, CSC, time to wake up sad.gif
JeroenAndMichelle
Bleh seems like a sleepy monday indeed sad.gif

Anyways, I checked a bit on the last seen date in VJ with the other members in Igor's list... turns out that a LOT of them haven't been seen in a long time.. if that's true, it could be very well easily be that these are already approved but never logged back on to notice us that they're approved.

Also, remember that the updates on their site might be weirding again and that we might have to wait for more approvals by mail.. if that's the case, you might want to wait a bit longer as lots of people are still working on the west side so they might not know yet if they're approved or not (if this is the case, lol, then I will have to wait another 5-6 hours until I know as it is 10 AM where my Fiance lives lol)

I hope to see some action more but, remember, there's a lot of factors playing along in this game smile.gif

The CSC workers are slowly waking up from their weekend. It should be better tomorrow smile.gif

Well I've had enough fun for one day, I'm hopeful that as people arrive home from work this evening that there will be nice surprises in their mail. Otherwise we get double excitement tomorrow. Full speed ahead!

Unfortunately there's no reason to post a new list tonight, but tomorrow is another day. See y'all.
sunnybear
Man what a disappointing thing to come home to today sad.gif Come on CSC we want approvalsssss!!!!

Thanks all for the good luck vibes on the interview...hoping to know by end of the week. I was sooo nervous! If it is meant to be it is meant to be though! I actually got interviewed for two positions at once so who knows!

I'm having one of those days where I feel like this is just NEVER going to happen. One NOA2 per day makes for a loooooooooooooong wait. I'm trying to stay busy, working extra hours, lots of gardening, lots of dog walking, planning dinner parties... but sheesh, I still turn to the computer every morning and every evening hoping for some sense of progress, but it just aint happening.

I don't mean to be a downer, just looking for a little pick me up, I suppose from those of you who I know have felt the same thing. I know we are getting close. I know the next two weeks will show some light at the end of the tunnel. I know it. But its hard to keep saying it over and over and over.

Alright CSC, here we go! Let's get pumped up for a great Tuesday... everyone, start drinking those coffees...
