Rachel, did they change your case status online when you were touched? or were you totally unaware that it was an approval until the post man knocked?

I doubt it is a men thing... I kinda start to think it is a USC thing as my SO is exactly like yours as I am also the one who has to tell her what to do laughing.gif

Hey now! I'm the USC and I'm the one who knows every step and every form that has to be done. I keep bugging Dennis to get his ahead of time stuff done (like go see the doctor because he's missing some vaccinations...he's been promising to do it for like two months and it still isn't done *sigh*).

That's far too sensible an idea. I'm blaming Alex for being both male and a USC.

btw, anyone else noticing weird reloads in these forums lately? From what I could see is it Google doing this, I kinda think it is the Google Ads on top as I only experience it on these forums when there is Google Ads... It really takes away my reading pleasure sad.gif

I knew sooner or later it would come to male bashing laughing.gif

I grew up in a household with three sisters, and have the scars to prove it. As far as the WE thing, well, let's just say that it has more to do with the male vs. femaile difference. If it truely was a WE vs USC thing, then nothing would actually happen, although there would be a tremendous amount of discussion. Besides, the USC already did his/her part with the initial filing.....now i'ts up to the SO's yes.gif

Good luck Cecile, Aliona, and everyone. We're still clearing out last weeks approvals since the technologically advanced CSC has reverted to snail mail to inform the lucky couples.

Be nice when you ask for this as it obligates the USC to provide support, no matter what, for the next 9 years or so. blink.gif

Kidding aside, I know there's a lot to do once the approval arrives - and it might take longer for this fact to dawn on us fun loving, irresponsible, and conflict avoiding men, however, that's why God created women, to provide balance. laughing.gif

Alex may actually ask his father to be a co-sponsor, as Alex's earnings are perilously close to 125% of the poverty line for two people. Even if his dad says yes I shall still feel a little guilty. Hopefully we'll be able to support ourselves, but even so I'm not keen on the idea of being named as an 'official' burden to anyone. Alex, okay, we'll be a married unit anyway, his dad...not so much.

Then we're lucky we don't have anything to send back to USCIS before they transfer our case to NVC and then the embassy! otherwise it would be a mess!

I was afraid we would have to get a co-sponsor, for the very same reasons as you. and it turned out that he gets more money than I thought tongue.gif
If he has to ask his father to do so, make sure you talk to him and make him understand that even though officially he will be responsible of you, you are not planning to ask him any money and that you will be able to manage your life without his help. Make him understand that even though there is still a very slight possibility you might become a burden to him someday, presumably this won't happen. If he understands it this way and accept it, you'll accept it easier too.

I know it must be a little tough to accept the "official burden" monicer, I know Olga isn't very happy about it. Fact is that when the AOS goes through and the employment authorization arrives, all those feelings will fade away. It's not you or Alex that is preventing your working right away, it's the US gov't. I'm sure you and Alex will be a great "unit" even if times are tough for a bit. In fact I think it's a bit better to start out will little - because it really helps mold two people into one.

I totally agree...every once in awhile Dennis and I have talked about the only up-side of this whole process is that we really have to test our relationship to get through it. At least we know we can make it through the hard stuff good.gif We're going to be ina similar position to you Rachel...when my lease is up in my apartment I'll be moving into my mom's house. Dennis and I will live with her until his EAD comes through and he gets a job, then we'll buy our own house. I hate relying on my mom like that...but when we looked at it financially, it didn't make sense to do anything else.
Alex & Rachel
Once again this site reminds me that I am not alone. smile.gif

Cecile - I shall definitely recommend to Alex that he phrase his request as you suggested. good.gif

Blake - that is very true. I'm going to keep repeating 'it's the US government's fault' to myself while I wait for my EAD; that way I don't have to feel guilty about having a protracted break from working. There aren't many periods in life when you CAN'T work so I'll enjoy it while I can!

aravis - I most definitely agree with you; I think all of our relationships are stronger for this process. While I was fixing a snack upstairs I actually thought about how much this visa process is forcing me to do. I've never been great at arranging things (I hate having to use the phone, and I'm terrified of being a nuisance) and I've always left everything up to other people. Since I've been in a long-distance relationship I've had to learn how to book a flight, fly on my own, become very familiar with the postal system (don't ask me why anyone should be nervous about having to send a package abroad, but I was), book driving lessons and soon I'll have to organise moving my belongings whether I like it or not!

i agree with you rachel and aravis. this process forces us to really focus on our relationships and ourselves and strengthen any potential weak spots. i am glad i am not alone in this work smile.gif it sounds like we're all moving things along nicely. rose.gif

Wow - the first Feb approval (Leo & Tim) just came through. This couple filed on 2/29 - and this is not a Cuban approval. This has got to be one of those "training" applications that I've read about. Regardless, Congratulations!

That would be par for the course...but it looks like it was some sort of random glitch in Igor's. The person's VJ timeline says they haven't logged in since March and there is no NOA2 date listed...I'm not sure how Igor's has decided they were approved.

I've PM'd Igor to have him look at how the list is drawing the information and how the list "corrects" for mispostings - which actually what I think this was. But it's ok to keep your finger's crossed aravis, one never knows......

I'm not worried about Feb filers getting approved before Jan filers any more than Jan filers being approved before all the Nov & Dec filers getting approved. It's obvious that there is a problem in Igor's list, all you have to do it look at wifetobe who is still #1 on the list and has been for the last three weeks. People make mistakes in filling out their timelines, obviously, and I think the timelines per VJ are corrected (if you look at wifetobe's timeline and with Leo's timeline neither of them have an NOA2 date listed) - it's just Igor's list does not have a way to remove someone from the list who erroneously entered a date in thier NOA2 box. That's what I told Igor and hopefully he will have time to look at the problem.

I was wondering about that a bit lately.. what if twenty people actually made a mistake like the one couple? Or what if someone wants to be 'funny' and signs up 20 times to fill the whole list up? I think the list would make less sense to most of us then sad.gif Then again, we can follow our own number in the line (which is 98 for me now, getting excited hehe) but it's harder to track who actually received their NOA2.. I hope he fixes it smile.gif

Igor just responded to my query and stated that if a person puts a date in the NOA2 field and then subsequently removes that date without putting another date in that field then there would be a problem with the way the list handles the item - he is investigating and seeing if he can fix the program. That's all. And since I've had enough fun for the day I will go ahead and post the list of January approvals. Note that we had about three new couples join the January CSC community - Welcome - and don't be shy about posting here.

And now, the list:

Hoooorrrraaaaayyyyy!!!!

I'm hoping these guys get their e-mail system fixed so that you don't have to remain sleepless the next week waiting on the mail. As of today, one in four January filers has received their approval. Not bad when you think how depressed we all were two weeks ago. good.gif

1 in 4 is incredible in just two weeks. All I can say is that they'd better keep the pace up - or else!

Why of course I would whistling.gif LMAO....sorry let me be a bitter since I haven't seen my man in almost a year now.....haha...I think me and Estadia and all others that haven't seen our loves in person for a long time should be FIRST hahahahah! Call me biased hahhaha..... blush.gif

*hugs* I think you should be first too, and it does seem that the system is very unfair sometimes. sad.gif I feel so bad having my approval already, when I'm not even planning to fly out until the end of November/beginning of December!

Don't think about the worst that might happen..think about the good things that might happen wink.gif Also, even if it really doesn't mean anything that you're touched, then still it means they still have your petition laying somewhere biggrin.gif (I am actually still scared that it might be lost lol... we haven't been touched ever since we filed)

what do you mean it wasnt touched since u hav filed it??

you've never been touched? u mean the "last updated" section on ur uscis website was blank since you've filed it??

no it wasn't blank but I would not consider the date they put there as a "touch", only as the date they first entered it in the system. then it stayed at that date until yesterday. that's why I said we never had a touch.
