hello everyone...finally i am now in USA,i arrived here last Sunday Feb 24 and Chicago was my POE...
i am just little confused abt EAD...as CR1 i am wondered if i need that or no...the immigration officer at the chicago airport told me that i will be recieving my green card 3-6 months but for the meantime my CR1 visa in my passport serves me as my working permit,is it true?
please help me clear abt this....thanks a lot!

You need do mothing... The stamp in your passport serves as your temporary greencard and is your authorization to work/travel/etc.... until your physical card arrives

Yes - your temporary (unexpired) I-551 stamp in your passport will allow you to work. good.gif

I-9 form used by employers to verify eligibility to work.

Congratulations and welcome to the midwest. As previuosly stated you are legal to work.

They stamped your passport and that will be your temporary working permit while waiting for your gc..Usually it takes 2-3 months to have it..Congrats and welcome to the US.. biggrin.gif

They stamped your passport and that will be your temporary working permit while waiting for your gc..Usually it takes 2-3 months to have it..Congrats and welcome to the US.. biggrin.gif

and as i can see on ur timeline...you recieved ur SSC after 10 days and ur GC for only 2 months...thats COOL!

I am so glad I logged on today cuz if I wouldn't have I would not have learn this really. My wife has been in the USA for three days now with a CR-1 and we have been thinking why it takes the GC so long to arrive. We didn't know she can start working while waiting for her Green card and SSN. Thanks a billion guys asking this question and for your answers!!
