My mother filed for I-130 Petition for Alien Relative for her sister back in may 2007. She is US citizen. Check for the visa fee was also debitted from the account. Yet, after 8 months of waiting, we still have NOT received NOA1 (Notice of Action) from USCIS. Does anyone have any ideas about how to contact USCIS to check the status of this application. I dont' have the case number or any other means of identifying my application with USCIS since I haven't received any NOA1.

thanks in advance,

CS

Try this phone number for USCIS: 1-800-375-5283
uscis.gov states to use this number "If you mailed your application or petition more than 30 days ago to a Service Center or to our National Benefit Center, and have not yet received a receipt in the mail."

That is too long to wait for the NOA1. the NOA1 is only a notice that USCIS has received the package, nothing more. The fact that it has been cashed presumably by USCIS should mean the process has begun, but it has very strange that you have not received it in the mail (unless it got lost in the mail).

Try calling and following the prompts. I tried calling once and found the automated system to take a while and to not be helpful to me, but your case is different. To get a live person you'd most likely have to wait until Monday during normal business hours.

You can also check on the back of your cashed check to see your case number usually its WACXXXXXXXXXX Mine was on the top left corner. Use that number and goto uscis.gov and click on case status online link on the left. From there create an account as Customer and enter your case number to see what the status is. You can always call USCIS to track it too. 8 months is LONG time.
