Hello all,
I am in a 221(g) situation, I submitted my documents requested from the blue slip on 02/04/08, I've noticed some people here have extremely long wait times approaching 1 year or more, and others have short wait times of a few weeks to few months. What is the typical or average wait time for a 221(g) AP?

It depends completely on the type of AP, and where it is being processed. You really cannot average the time because it varies so much.

Administrative Processing involves a variety of security checks. Which security checks are dependent on various factors:
1) Profession of applicant
2) Country of origin of applicant (Afican and middle eastern countries have more intensive checks)
3) Age and sex of applicant
4) FBI fingerprint, name check and facial recognition checks
Do a search on the web for key words like:
Visa Mantis
Visa Condor
TAL (Technology Alert List)
However, with your case, your AP may take less time as it could be review after you submitted requested documents.

They also use the term "Administrative Processing" at the state department level to indicate that the file is being processed. As I have said before. . .my case was labeled "in AP" for 7 months while they sent my husband's divorce certificate back and forth to be "validated." Someone else on this very forum is labeled "AP" just for an updated I-864!
They can do it for just about anything.
