The directions state to include:

•Tax returns, bank accounts, leases, mortgages, or birth certificates of children, or
•Internal Revenue Service (IRS)-certified copies of the income tax forms that you both filed for the past three years, or
•An IRS tax return transcript for the last three years.

It seems as if the IRS tax return transcript is the most popular way, and I've only used our copies of tax returns in the past for PR applications. So, how do I go about getting the tax return transcripts? I've read on here that people have just called and requested. I believe it is free, but does anyone have the phone number handy or a link to the info on the IRS website? How long does it usually take? Do I have to call, is there not a way to request online?

Thank you so much, I realize this question has probably been asked a million times already.

I know there's a phone number that's automated and they fax them to you.... I don't know the number though. Do a search of the forums and you will find it I 'm sure blush.gif

!-800-829-1040 used to be the number 24/7. I tried it last weekend and they said you have to call during business hours.
You can have them faxed also. Google - IRS tax transcripts faxed, phone number.

Oh yay, I've been on hold for 10 min so far, and I now get to wait another 10-15 min. I guess they don't have the automated system anymore for this!

Automated system wasn't on when I called last weekend. Google IRS Tax Transcripts and there is another number there.
Tammi
Ok this is the automated number: 1-800-829-0922

Good for future reference. Waiting on hold was ok though, since I was just browsing online.

Wow, I just did this and it was surprisingly efficient. Why can't the USCIS be like this? smile.gif

Thanks for the number.
