I haven't applied for a Nigerian visa since last year around this time. I went to the Nigerian Embassy/Consulate webpages and discovered a few things have changed.

WASHINGTON DC
Of the top of my head some of the changes are:
you can fill out the application online and pay online although it seems you still have to send in the invitation letter and other evidence.

Children of nigerian parents now need a letter of consent from both parents.

I'm confused like crazy about the fee. It says for a US citizen the fee is $100. Under the tourist visa section it says a money order for the amount of $20 AND see the online payment link which brings you to a page that states the fee as being $112 (single AND multiple entry, no duration is specified). So it's $132 now?

The regular page says you need one photograph.. the link for the online says you need two photographs.

NEW YORK
the fee is $20 money order and $120 (multiple entry is $220) online. (they also say it's $100 in other places) you MUST pay online
They have less requirements listed to get the visa. Yet they specify they want the first five pages of a Nigerian parent's passport and a signed notarized letter of consent from the mother. It doesn't appear that you can fill out the form and submit it online.

And I thought USCIS was confusing.

Has anyone done this recently?

I would really like to know what you find out. I had heard the process and fees had changed but sorry I don't know anything about it. PM VJ member, Vee I think I remember her asking about visas to Nigeria if you can get in touch with her I think she was planning on going back there or research her posts. Also I think Nixz Chi went to Niaja in Dec. Maybe someone will be able to help.
Wish you Luck!

Hello ladies,

I am leaving for Nigeria on March 15th. Yes now you have to submit the information on line at www.immigration.gov.ng
Once you complete the application it wil take you the payment screen. You then have to pay $112.00 by credit card. Once completed, print out the receipt and mail that to the embassy of choice here in the US, along with all other usual documents, passport, invitation letter, Itenirary, passport photos, etc. etc. It appears that the application on line is being sent right to the embassy in Nigeria along with the $112.00. Now the $20.00 money order apart from the $112.000 paid on line goes along with your package to the embassy here. So it's a total if $132.00

Hummmm hasen't changed that much since 2004, we didn't have to send to $20.00 back then tho. In 2004 we had to send the cost of the visa $100.00 and a self addressed paid enveloped Federal Express that was all.

I got my visa from the consulate of Nigeria in Atlanta and paid only a $112.00 and had it in 3 days. I visited Nigeria on the 9th of this month. You have to pay online and print the application and receipt and send it in with the other information. Its Nigerian immigration services be sure to include a express mail envelope.
