INCREASE IN MEDICAL EXAMINATION FEES
The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has recently made significant changes to the vaccination requirements for all immigrant visa applicants. Accordingly, eight new vaccinations have been added to the current list. Not all of these vaccines are currently available in the Philippines.
Beginning March 1, 2008, St. Luke’s Medical Center Extension Clinic (SLMCEC), the Embassy’s accredited medical facility, will increase the medical examination fee by US$37.65 to cover the costs of administering the currently available new vaccinations. The new medical exam fees will be $182.65 for adults and $154.65 for applicants 14 years of age or younger.
Further price increases are anticipated in the coming months as the remaining vaccines become available in the Philippines.
St. Luke’s Extension Clinic does not accept dollar payments. The fees must be paid in Philippine pesos at the prevailing exchange rate.

Maybe they can administer the Td shots now that's why... Td shots here in US is for free if you'll have it at your city health department. I can imagine the chaos at St. Lukes with all applicants trying to have their medical done before the fee hikes... Oh boy, oh boy... blink.gif blink.gif wacko.gif

This SUCKS BIG TIME!!!
... and there is still impending increase in the coming months??? ... The current fee as it is, is already very expensive, especially from those coming from the provinces (adding the cost of air fare and hotel stay)... and we haven't even received NOA2 yet, how much more expensive could it get when our time for medical comes cray5ol.gif cray5ol.gif

Anyweiz, thanks for posting this. good.gif

OH WELL!! It's only money. I look at it this way, they can raise their prices all they want, but they can't put a price on being with my girl. That is absolutely PRICELESS!!!

Considering the peso has declined a lot in the past couple of years, it maybe more dollars, but its also less in peso equivalent then a few years ago. When I started this process the medical was only $97 for adults, but the peso was 55 to 1. Now it will be $182.65, but the peso is about 39+ to 1 last I checked. I know it still doesn't work out even, but I would think they have to make that loss up somewhere. yes.gif

cost of health care going up everywhere. at least it's a one time fee. you should have seen me crying.gif when I saw the monthly payment increase on my heath insurance policy.
vbtbmrt
well it isnt badly priced if you think what all they do at slec for the medical and what it would cost in the usa your getting by cheap. yes it is only a small increase now but your getting more for the money also

thats how i feel about it too....plus, its only 40 dollars. thats probably less than the price for two for dinner at a restaurant....so, in the scheme of things, it's not really that much wink.gif

Some you won't be able to get either because your too old for it (not sure what the medical term for it, just saw it on my vaccination checklist) or it isn't available here in the Philippines. I only got MMR (Mumps, measles and Rubella) and Chicken Pox (since i haven't had it yet).

They shouldn't be even asking us (the immunization doctors do!) if we would like to take the vaccines here or at the States given the fact that the medical fee is quite expensive and we would like to make the most of our money's worth.

Anyways, anything...anything...to be with our loved ones! That one is priceless! good.gif
