I have read this thread to try to gain more inormation while waiting on my wife to send me some paperwork so i can file i-130. I am appalled at a couple people (and you know who you are). Don't you think all military personell deserve an expidite? I do because they are the ones that stood up and said "i'll protect this country". Nobody else is doing it. I met my wife three years ago. Fell in love and i finally had the time to go to Thailand to get married. Since our meeting i have been away from her for so long. Most of you know what that feeling is. So yes i think all military deserve an expidite no matter what the reason. i'm a 19 year veteran, been around the world twice and have seen things that you two only have nightmares about. If you think life is tough try going to get shot at in another country that will do absolutly nothing or you.
Absolutely not... Nobody "deserves" an expedite. How does a military person deserve to be with his/her loved one more than anybody else???
Expedites should however, be given to military members who are deploying.
My wife was given an expedite... 2 months later I deployed. Without the expedite, she would've been alone in a foreign country.
I understand that this realistic stance is not shared. And flame on if you will. I'm unaffected. (Already, a filipino girl called me gay in this thread for my views!)
BTW Will92104, I'm a 5 year veteran, and still serving. I've seen the same things you have, and probably more. (Seen insurgent-filled Baghdad?) Had I not have been deploying, I would'nt have filed an expedite.

I'm Military and in Iraq right now. I sent my case in June. How did you expedite yours? What are the terms for it? Thanks!
Matt, I respect your opinion and I have no interest in restarting this debate, but it is not (or no longer) shared by the Army, USCIS, several Senators helping with expedites, NVC and several Consulates.
It simply is a fact that it is at present possible to get a military expedite when one is deploying soon, when one is already deployed
and also, apparently since recently, when one is in between deployments. My husband just got back from Afghanistan and we have successfully filed such an expedite request.
So this means that soldiers now do not have to wait until they have have actual deployment orders in hand, making them able to spend more time with their spouses in the time that they are home in between deployments.
Moto-Zutto, you have a good chance of getting your case expedited. I know of one couple where the husband is also currently deployed in Iraq, that just got their expedite request approved.
You do it by filing an expedite request with the USCIS center where your case is pending (or NVC, if it's already there). You can do it via the help of a Senator/Congressman's office in the US State where you live. Since you are in Iraq, I assume you will be able to contact them easiest by email. They can file the request for you and they can follow up for you.
The way we did it, my husband made a cover letter (one page) briefly stating when we met/got married and on what basis he was requesting the expedite request. In the letter state your full name, DOB, address, same of your spouse, also add what petition you filed, the CIS receipt number and the Service Center where it is at. I'd add proof that you are deployed.
See the thread "Expedite Tips" on this (IR-1/CR-1) forum, by KipandSarahJayne, which contains alot of usefull info.
Good luck.
