YAY!!!! WE GOT APPROVED!!!

I went with my parents to the local office and sat there for 2 hours in the waiting room.. then they called my name and an asian person called us in.. before we had even sat down, he asked "who are these people with you?".. my dad said "dad and mom"... then he said "in that case, you will be approved".. then he just asked my parents a couple of questions (where are you guys from, how long lived in US, have you met her and her parents).. then he looked at some pictures from the backpack I brought.. (maybe 6-10).. I didn't even have to show my DVD or my copies of my forms.. then he said: "We are doing this because there are many fraud apps with young people".. "if the parents are there, it would be much better... automatic wild (trump) card"... we didn't even have time to react.. everything was over in less than 2 minutes.. we didn't have time to get comfortable (not that I wanted to) in the chairs yet... so if you want to get approved.. GET YOUR PARENTS TO COME AND SUPPORT YOU (or other CLOSE family members -- brothers and sisters)...

thanks everyone!! it's been 311 days for I-130 and 255 days for I-129F... but I hear the I-129F is not longer valid??... so 311 days.. whew... (10 months) now for the next step.. all we did was go over the big speed bump in the middle.. now it's downhill and the journey to the other side... I'll be busy preparing Packet 3 and Packet 4 soon... the guy even said that he would send it 'directly to Guangzhou Consulate, no need for NVC".... but is that true?

not sure, he didn't say actually... The local interview was actually for my I-130... I'll take anything now.. while we were leaving, he even told his supervisor that "there was no problem with our case, we will approve it right away..."

Well, this is the post I've been waiting to see!
Many congratulations gogo!!
I've never really understood the cock-up on your case. Is this your 'NOA2' and now we still need to move on to the consulate?

haha, thanks everyone!! still feeling that "adrenaline" pumping... even after 1 hour.. just can't believe the interview went so fast... Rebecca, yes this is only "halfway" for me... only the approval for me.. but that's good enough for now... I can have patience waiting again.. hopefully she will be here before the end of the year... I made a promise (either way on what happens) we won't be apart for Christmas again... I haven't visited her on any of the major holidays, so we haven't been together...

well, at least it is a start, so that's good.. they will be sending the application to the consulate within 1-2 weeks (as to what I saw from others who had a local interview)... wow, I still can't believe it.. I was expecting very hard questions or having you to draw her room or something like that..
some of you it seem also have a recent approval... Congrats QaSiM--aIsHa!!! Yay, now you are on your way out too... I hope that you get to be with your spouse soon... good luck!!
and good luck to all those that are still waiting ... if you need any help, SusieK, tell me.. seems like "bringing the parents" work.. but I know some of us are too old to bring our parents...

Congrats gogo! I know it's been a looooong and frustrating road for you. I remember how pumped you were for this interview and that it was "all or nothing". Looks like you got what you were hoping for.
So I don't know your full history, but was it your idea or USCIS that you have a local interview? Why did the local office have the power to approve you? Could the same happen for others who schedule a local interview?
gogo
Feb 21 2008, 07:08 PM
nooooooooo..... local interviews are BAD STUFF... they are suspicious of your case.. even this officer told me upfront about that.. he said it was because lots of cases have been fraud cases (also , especially among the young people).. get approved the normal way.. but if you do end up like me, you can bring your other family members to help (preferably your parents, since they have known you the longest).. or whoever has known you the longest..

Basically, It was THEIR IDEA to have the local interview, since they didn't trust me... The local office has the power because they are SUPPOSED to do only I-485 (Naturalization) green card interviews... I would assume they are more powerful than the USCIS Service centers.. well, once we get past the I-130/I-129F stage.. I think the local office does the adjustment stuff as well as the Naturalization stuff...
yes, faith11, this was a long fight.. "all or nothing" like I had put it.. but I got the "all" on my side...
just like my signature says... we are finally going to be together

CONGRATULATIONS GOGO!!!!! I am so happy for you and your wife. May you have a speedy journey from this day forward. I have been having trouble getting my petition to the NVC. They had failed to separate my K-3 from the I-130 folder and they both went to National Records Center instead of K3 being separated and sent to NVC. As of today, it is on its way to the NVC, so here we go again!!! LOL
Good luck to ya!

yay, we defeated the WACs... well almost.. until I actually get the NOA2 paper in the mail, then I'm still "suspicious" of celebrating.. haha.. a verbal agreement means nothing... especially not with the WACs there.. but nevertheless it is a big step for me..
