We got the approval email for both his EAD and AP saying they mailed a notice; I could wait for the NOAs to come in the mail...>OR I could ask my VJ friends two questions: 1. Are they mailing the actual AP documents? and
2. How long should it take from approval to getting the "EAD in production" notice?

I love progress but I sure hate waiting

Like:
how did you get email notification?
I went to where I had logged in to get email notifications for when we were doing my K1 Visa (which worked great).
And how do I update USCIS that I am doing AOS now??
Is it automatic??

Nope....it's not automatic, you have to enter your receipt number(s) for your AOS, EAD and AP (assuming you did all 3) just like you did for your K1....there's a box you check to "turn on" email notifications, and then it'll work great just like it did for your K1! Good Luck!

I got them both in mail the same day
you can see it on my signature
the EAD is a cool card with 1 fingerprint on it
the AP is 2 documents ( same copies ) with pic on it and your personel info valide for 1 year

Opps! Was reading on USCIS that if one receives AP and EAD on the same day, the EAD is automatically canceled! Reason being; USCIS has determined that receiving that amount of great news on 1 day, is detrimental to one's health! Soooo Sowwrry!! It is in ur best interest!!

Jeremy, I'm still confused .....we got an email notice approving the AP and EAD, but nothing was said about a card being in production??? Was that mentioned in a separate notice for Kristy and daughter? Have you received your actual letter yet?

Oh by the way I answered the question you asked me, it's under my topic "Received EAD Update." The EAD card is really neat, we just received my husbands card today.

Should receive your husband's card soon I would think.

10 days roughly from the time they notified us till I got them in the mail today.

The EAD is a little plastic credit card kind of deal with that lovely pic they took at biometrics It has my birthdate and the effective and expiry dates for the EAD. The effective date is the day I got the email from CRIS. Cool, because I am faxing EI in Canada tomorrow for sure!

The AP is actual 2 identical pieces of paper 8½ x 11...kind of looks similar to NOA's we've gotten in the past. My picture is on the bottom of both. Has some guy's signature and a raised stamp on the bottom of it

Thanks! We just got the AP letters in the mail yesterday, and an email today stating his EAD card is in production....YAY! So we've made it thru one more hurdle with USCIS...they can't take us down, LOL.....now we just wait for 5/1 for his AOS Interview.....it just feels so good to make it thru, doesn't it!!
