Hi everybody,

8 months ago, I applied for a name change to change to my new married name. The social security office had to translate my marriage cert. b/c our translation was not enough for them...its their policy. So, I kept calling and they kept giving me the run around. Finally, I went there yesterday to another town and talked to a living person. SHe said that a trainee lost our paperwork and it just sat on the shelf for a few months. But amazingly, it was approved on valentines day after only eight months. blink.gif

But I had lost all faith that it would ever get approved after a lady on the phone said I might need to reapply cuz they couldnt find a record of my application. So I went ahead and sent our joint tax return in with my previous name and SS # on it. So now I wonder what I should do, if anything, because now my last name is a different one and I just sent it in the mail 2 days ago. What should I do?

THANKS

Don't do anything. The social security card you had at the time of filing your return and at 12/31/07 matches your return.

Good Job on getting your taxes done already.
