My husband and I keep calling 2419-8062 between 10-12, but it's always busy! Do I have the right number (trying to find out when his interview date is)? This is the third day we're trying and no luck. helpsmilie.gif

The number is correct... however New Delhi Consulate is known to not pick up the phone... I have got to speak to them every time that I have called. However - have had to try atleast 20-25 times before the ring goes and sometimes the phone rings till 'no answer' a few times before anybody answers mad.gif
The only good thing I can tell you is be patient and keep trying - Once they answer, they are very helpful and answer to all your queries wink.gif wink.gif

BTW.. Try calling the DOS at 202 663 1225, press 1 and then 0... will need to wait for a couple of minutes and it is a blank (no recorded message or music).. they are easier to get through and have access to same info as the consulate....

My advice is to email embassy. I remember how frustrating it was when I tried calling. I emailed case number and my questions and they replied back in 1-2 days. This way you will also have "paper" trail if there is any confusion or misunderstanding regrarding answers to your questions. Here is the address: ivnd@state.gov. GOOD LUCK !!

Thanks for the information, guys. We had the same experience of calling and no answer or a busy signal. I had sent an email which they hadn't replied to in 2 days. I gave up last night and called the main Consulate number. They asked if I was a USC, and when I said yes, they put me through to someone who pulled up the file and tried to help. (Though they still hadn't assigned an interview date for us.)

Something else I noticed is that when you call from the US I think they are more apt to pick up the phone because of the phone ring and perhaps what shows up on the ID. I was always able to get through while my husband never had his call answered and we would both call during the allocated hours for visas.
