I sent my I-751 to TSC back in Sept. 07, My NOA is dated 10-18-07...and I still have not even been scheduled for my biometrics yet! I called USCIS last month and apparently, my case was transfered to CSC. I received an answer to the service request that they sent to CSC saying my case will be processed and I should get an ASC appointment date within 60 days. At this rate, I'll be eligible for citizenship before my condition is ever removed! That is just ridiculous! I have a very straightforward case and this is the second time this kind of crap happens to me. It took a year for my AOS and even the officer at my interview in OKC said she didn't understand why it had taken so long. I was supposed to go visit my family in April, but now I am worried that the appointement will end up being scheduled during that time. ARGH! I am just so frustrated!

Yep we filled in aug 07 and I know there are lots of people who filed more than 12 months ago... so there are alot of us just waiting......

Many do in fact file N-400 for citizenship before the I-751 is processed, sometimes this has the affect of expediting the I-751, if the N-400 moves along faster.

You do not need I-751 complete before filing the N-400, you can file N-400 within 90 days of third anniversary of getting CR-Green-Card.

It's only been four months since your NOA1, which compared to the average around here, is not long at all. Given that you were transfered to CSC (something you should have picked up on back in October when you received the NOA1 from CSC), you might have even been approved by now if you were proactive about not having received a biometrics appointment. There are people who've gone for biometrics appointments without ever having received the notice of appointment. (You can search here for such examples.) That's what I would do.

I know a lot of people have long processing times and that sucks, BUT most people have their biometrics done about a month or so after their NOA. We are almost 5 months after my NOA and still no biometrics and it might be another 2 months before I even get it done! What can possibly take that long?? it's just crazy!

What about those of us who don't want to file for citizenship? My son is a dual citizen of the US and South Africa. My husband is a USC and I would like to remain a South African citizen (at least for now) I shouldn't have to file another application to speed up an existing application that I paid good money for!!!

Well first off, I wasn't aware that you could go get your biometrics done without an appointement.
Second, I might not have been real proactive, but things have been pretty hectic around here with us having a baby in November and us finding out 2 days later that DH was getting deployed to IRAQ. There's been a lot of stuff going on and a lot to deal with so yeah I just got around to it last month. Not that it should matter anyway. I pay USCIS too much money as it is, I shouldn't have to do their job for them. JMHO

It could be worse, you could be one of the ones still waiting to be reunited. I am so thankful Claudeth is here so the waiting we did on AOS and now on lifting conditions is meaningless because I get to be with her every day

You should make an infopass. Your biometrics notice might have well been lost in the mail. It happened to me back in 2005 for the I-765 and when I called they told me: "This happens all the time", so I made an infopass appt. When I was there they told me my biometrics had been scheduled for a date 8 weeks earlier and I was asked why I didn't show up. I explained I never got the letter. Biometrics were taken right there.
If I were you I'd go for a walk-in biometrics. Take your first NOA and GC w/you and explain the case. You should have received your NOA for biometrics 2 months back.

Well, I'm glad that people are starting to see this I-751 nonsense the same way I do .
I said it before ,I will do it one more time :
Summiting another application (N-400 ) won't fix your problem with I-751 ...are we just getting obsessed filling blindly all these applications ????
And yes ......for those that choose not to seek US citizenship what other options do we have other then waiting and waiting some of us in excess of more then 13-14 months ???????

No kidding ...how about waiting almost 600 days for stinking USCIS to approve my first application I-129F ????? All this time being away from my spouse ?
Think about that ? For some of us it's been rough right from the beginning and that's without being criminals or having a criminal record in the past .....just pure luck of interest in doing some decent work at all these service centers
