Hi,

I'm starting to prepare i-751, and am confused on question #9. Have you resided at any other address since you became a permanent resident? Here is my situation….
My wife is working towards a Masters degree and she lives in an apartment near her campus (20 miles away from our house), but since we live in the same city she comes home over the weekend. Her mail and everything is sent to our house address, so should I answer Yes on question #9? We don’t use this address for anything other than her studies, so should I even mention this to them? I might need to mention the apartment if there's an interview, so just want to make sure I don’t mess anything up. If I answer yes on I-751 do I need to send an I-865? Since we don’t live there permanently I want to know is I-865 necessary?

Thank You.

In this case, you don't need to indicate this. A person has only one legal residence, your home, the apartment is not considered to be residence.

I work for a state funded college, and this comes up often when determining residency for tuition rates, the student may have an apartment near the college, but unless they change address on things like voter registration, and driver's license they are not considered a resident at the address of the apartment.

I would follow the suggestion of YuandDan.

Wish you the best!
