Wow! You scared me, I have my flight booked for March 15TH, Whoooo!!! It appears they are having financial issues.
You could try KLM, I hear they're pretty reasonable with 1 short layover.

It looks like they are discontinuing all their service to Africa.

I have flown NAA and they were the best bet for SO coming to the states.

However, I'm a true KLM groupie anyway 119,000 Sky Miles and counting; so I guess for the quick trips Delta will have to do (Sky Team) to earn miles.

NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm shocked and not happy. I'm not a fan of Delta and undoubtedly their fares will increase significantly without competition. I budgeted for NAA and now I have to figure something else out. Boy, this relationship is turning out the be one of the hardest things I've ever done. Childbirth was less painful.

I was talking to a friend of mine last night who was actually going to buy his ticket home with NAA for June...I probably ruined his night crying.gif

Delta is more expensive and now they are going to have a monopoly on that nonstop service to Accra (if they continue). Why would NAA stop that service though? I only had the chance to fly them once and the flights were packed on both legs.

I hate hate hate hate layovers mad.gif Now, I either shell out the money for Delta (I'm waiting for their prices to go through the roof) or suck it up and fly a European airline (probably KLM or Lufthansa).

This news definately ruined my week. I was planning to take my kids with us to Liberia to be the flower girls in our wedding. The prices I found with NAA were good! I doubt that we will be able to afford four of us with Delta. I hope they have another fare sale again. I happened to catch Delta during one of their Accra sales and the tickets were $799. *sigh* Like everyone said Delta was already higher and will probably increase now without any competition.

The press release for NAA said they stopped the flights due to the rising gas prices.

Well just make your reservations quickly before Delta can react and raise the prices. For me being in Seattle, the Delta fares were not much higher due to the connection issues. I can imagine if you are traveling from JFK or Atlanta this could effect the fares significantly.

The link didn't work for me but I found it.. and posted it here for others who aren't able to access the link. I'm flying via NAA to Lagos on April 19 - May 1 so I make the deadline but it makes me wonder.. are they going to honor our refundable tickets if he isn't able to come home with me for some reason sad.gif I know what they say but .... do I take the chance? It's always something isn't it?

# Why is NAA discontinuing its scheduled service operations beyond May 19, 2008?
What makes NAA's scheduled service operations untenable is the rising cost of fuel, with jet fuel costs increasing 60 percent since 2005. This was a difficult decision, especially in light of the continuing support we have received from the governments and the traveling public in these markets. NAA's modern Boeing 757/767 fleet is in high demand and NAA will redeploy these aircraft profitably in the charter market.

# When will NAA discontinue its scheduled service flights between New York and Georgetown, Guyana
The last JFK GEO flight NA091 will depart JFK on May 19, 2008 and the return flight NA092 from GEO to JFK will depart GEO on May 19, 2008.

# When will NAA discontinue its scheduled service flights between Baltimore / New York and Accra, Ghana
The last BWI / JFK to ACC flight NA125 will depart JFK on May 18,2008 and the last return flight NA126 from ACC to JFK / BWI will depart ACC on May 20, 2008.

# When will NAA discontinue its scheduled service flights between Baltimore / New York and Lagos, Nigeria
The last BWI / JFK to LOS flight NA133 will depart JFK on May 17, 2008 and the last return flight NA134 from LOS to JFK / BWI will depart LOS on May 18, 2008.

# Does NAA have sufficient funds for refunding reservations beyond May 19, 2008?
Only NAA's scheduled service operations will be discontinued, but NAA will remain in business as an airline, and therefore sufficient funds for refunding reservations for travel beyond May 19, 2008 will be available.

# I booked my refundable or non-refundable flights for travel beyond May 19, 2008 on flynaa.com and paid by credit card. How do I get refunded?
NAA will automatically refund both segments of your reservation to the credit card used for the purchase; it may take up to 10 days to process the refund and will show on your next statement after the 10 day processing period.

# I booked my refundable or non-refundable flights for travel beyond May 19, 2008 through a travel agency. How do I get refunded?
You will need to contact your travel agency for a refund.

# I traveled to my destination, but my return flight on NAA will be beyond May 19, 2008. What are my options?
You can change your return travel date to a NAA flight prior to May 19, 2008 by contacting 1-800-FLY-NAA2, and NAA will waive the change fee, or NAA will refund the unused segment to the original form of payment.

# I want to make a reservation for flights before May 19, 2008. What should I do?
When your flight(s) take place before May 19, 2008 you can book on-line at flynaa.com, contact the NAA reservation center at 1-800-FLY-NAA2, one of our regional offices, or your local travel agency.

# Where can I find local contact information?
You will find relevant (contact) information on the NAA web-site at flynaa.com

Kathryn, they did say that if you applied for a refund you could get it. So I wouldn't worry about that.

Plus, I am sure your husband will be on that plane home with you smile.gif
