Seeing a lot of slowness this morning. No errors, just very slow. Is it just me, or is anyone else seeing this?

Almost any link I click on, whether to post or read a new forum or thread or whatever, is taking up to 30 seconds to load. More typically it's around 10 seconds. Sometimes it eases up for a couple minutes, and then it's right back to slogging through the ether.

Ditto. Also getting the site unavailable page. Been happening all day.

Yeah just got my first "site unavailable" page myself.
Seems to be getting worse now too. There's not a time that it reverts to normal anymore. It's all slow. I just posted and it took almost a minute to get past the white page and see the post.

I made an update that should drastically reduce the server load variability (one minute it is fast and then the next slow). Let me know how things look or if you spot any problems!

I had time to meet a woman on the internet, visit her in her country, come home, file K-1, get NOA2--through CSC mind you, get through the interview, fly her here, divorce her, meet another girl, fly to her country to meet her, come back, and I'm thinking I won't have to file a waiver to apply for another K-1.

WORST time yet. Taking almost 5 solid minutes to load any page. IP errors saying servicer has dropped me. Cannot even access any new posts. Getting ready to walk away and not even bother today. It is that bad-!!!

I am rolling back out the evil slow down patch (it should really speed things up). I am doing it slow and controlled and watching the long, so fingers crossed. Please send me an email at... admin at visa journey if things are acting up!

Mar 19 2008, 08:13 PM
Wow. I had a safety net I wrote a while back that auto disabled the search when the server load was too high. Turns out it posted the error message correctly but the search processed in the background regardless (what good is that). I have fixed the issue (also raised the limit). This will certainly prevent todays problem from happening again. On a side note I think I have resolved issue from this morning and the speed up tool is working now

I feel ripped off that I could have had the results of my search instead of that error message.

I just wanted to tell everyone that the change I made has resulted in much lower server loads on average and the site has been running better than ever. Additionally certain commonly used features should be faster to use around the forums

Always appreciate the job you do Ewok! While things were running really well...I have noticed extreme slowdowns in the last few days. Early in the morning. When I thought maybe there weren't as many people here. I keep plugging away, but last Friday, I just gave up posting.

Yep I saw that. I really am surprised about all the recent loads. I have been adding a gazillion optimizations. There must be a slow-down some place that is responsible for this that I have not found yet. No worries though. I am going to find it!
