This may seem like a stupid question but since I see so many people not getting the social security card when they check it on the DS-230, I was wondering as the boys ( 16 and 11 ) are coming throught JFK if I should have my husband ask for the stamp so we can apply for the Social security card? I am able to add them to my health insurance with out it but would like to apply for it ASAp in casr the kids need the card for anything.

Thanks
YuAndDan
Only visa that may get EAD stamp is K-1 fiancee visa. the other K-Visas K-2,K-3 and K-4 are NOT work authorized and wont get EAD stamp.

Immigrant visas like CR-1 and IR-1 don't get EAD stamp either, they get I-551 GREEN-CARD stamp.

You can use the I-551 stamp to apply for SSN, you need to give USCIS a few weeks to update database used by SSA to confirm immigrations status, before attempting to apply for SSN.

Thanks for the clarification, So they will get the I-551 upon entry? That is a releif.
