My husband got two phonecalls this morning but he missed both and does not have voicemail. When he called them back it said, "this number is not available please try back again later" but he said that is a message common when someone calls and the number is not on their list...whatever the heck that means.

No one calls him that he doesn't know so he's convinced this was the embassy but now he's frustrated 'cause he cannot call back. The numbers were:

0111141625 and 0124744854

Does anyone know where I can find a list of possible consulate numbers? What happens if they don't call back?

Bridget, you may have thought of these already, but is there a USC service center at Cairo embassy to which you can call and ask for possible numbers? I may be a long shot but see if u or ur husband can get it out of them. Also, from what I know, the embassy should try back at a different time the next day or the coming days as they have to finish the case and get it out of system. But people are not always robotically ready for phone calls, so they must have some system where if the applicant does not pick up, the e-mail or call again.

I know how it feels to be almost there, I send my prayers to you and please give us yours.

Update me as well on what happened, what would happen if you call DOS and asked about the consulate calling policy if u could not reach the cairo service center?

Thanks Tammy you are in my daily duas so hopefully things will come to a completion for you soon inshallah!!!! I'll call DOS tomorrow but I'm not sure if President's Day is celebrated there or not. For us it's a holiday. We're thinking that because no one was home for the home visit and my husband had requested that the officer call ahead next time that that is what this is all about but who knows.

If it's THE call then hopefully they'll also send a package via dhl? I don't know what the procedure is for THE call because I never think that much ahead so I won't get disappointed.

From my understanding, the Embassy is closed today and not tomorrow in lieu of President's Day. I think I read that on their web page. Anyway, let us know what happened!

No we just assumed that it was two people with the wrong number. I'm hoping that if it was really the embassy they'd supplement it with a dhl package with instructions. The embassy was closed yesterday so I doubt it was them. Gave me hope for like an hour though so that was fun. lol

I was hopeful that it was good news for you, too! Do you have it set up with the Embassy to e mail you first? I did that a few months ago. Now whether they comply with my request or not is another story. But DOS confirmed that the Embassy received that information,and made note of it so time will tell, I guess.

hmmm...i have no idea. I don't have the old email addy that I originally put on the forms but the one I use now is the one I email them to every week though they keep saying they'll "call" him for the next step. Now you got me thinking....I'll ask him to call the consulate tomorrow and see if they did call him. That would suck if they went on to the next person just because he wasn't able to get to the phone on time, though I wouldn't rule that out with Cairo.

What you can do is EMail the Embassy, tell them you would like to be notified first when they are ready to issue the visa. Tell them that he is hard to get ahold of ( that's what I did because it is true). Then give them your NEW Email address . Hopefully, they will get back with you saying they made a note of it. Confirm this by calling DOS about 2 weeks after you hear from the Embassy.

I'll wait a few weeks since I think I ticked them off with my last email. BTW those numbers were his best friend in Canada who uses calling cards to call him. I told him to knock it off 'cause he sent us both in a tizzy!!!!

I probably ticked the Embassy off a few times, myself. They haven't been answering my e mails lately.

Well i would tell your husband to keep his cell phone with him at all times so there will be no more mysterious phone calls....lol

the embassy had called my husband and it actually showed up on his phone as the united states embassy with the phone number.
