I've been checking out air fare and I'm wondering when we should purchase my SO's ticket? I'm of course being very optomistic that he will get thru the interview with no problems. Can anyone tell me how they did it? Did you wait until after the interview to purchase a ticket or did you do it before hand? Is it cheaper for my SO to purchase the ticket in Nigeria or for me to do it here? Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

My $0.02...don't buy the ticket until you have the visa in hand. You never know what can happen.

Awwww. Boooooo. You guys are party poopers. : tongue.gif I'm just kidding. I know you guys are being pratical. But im with tess on the excitement and buying the ticket it. It makes me feel more assured. I figure my husband can change the date on the ticket or get a refund if something happens, minus a fee of course. But being able to have his ticket on the same flight with me home when everything goes well::::ohmy.gifn my knees praying for this to be true::::::::is priceless.

I walk along the lines of waiting until the interview is over and visa in hand. That's only because anything can happen (in my case, we were on AP for a month-but everyone is different) and I, personally, don't like the hassle of changing ticket dates and paying extra fees. As others have said, if you want to purchase the ticket ahead of time, then it would be best to familiarize yourself with the rules regarding changing tickets. Good luck on your interview!

Yeah we thought of that but for us having in hand is better because there is always something coming up. We are avoiding not having the money when the time comes. Its on lock down. What if everything works out and he can come with me but we dont have the ticket and we cant book on same flight? That will make us feel like banging our heads on the wall. haha But not everyone has the same circumstances. For us this is what we want. But if I was not going we would wait for the visa outcome before buying the ticket.

Yeah, that's how I felt, I wanted to purchase his beforehand (out of excitement), but the only reason I didn't was because money was super tight and I could barely even afford to the change fee, lol.

Money is pretty tight but if it wasnt for my family helping out we wouldnt make it. They are almost as excited to have him as I am.

Honestly, If I wasnt going I would wait too. But we are hoping to come back together. If he doesnt, at least he has the ticket in hand.

That is what we thought too!! I handed the CO his passport back and said " put the Visa in there he is coming home with me...I bought the ticket" the CO said "soon he will be there and you see each other so much that you will grow tired of seeing each other..."

Oh well, I used e-tickets so I just emailed him updated tickets...

I purchased a refundable ticket on North American Airlines and then actually was able to change it to 2 days earlier. There were no change fees.

Now that you mention that...I did that... I had to pay the $50 bucks for the JFK to DIA flight. Its all coming back to me now. LOL (still used e tickets and emailed them)

Have you bought the ticket, yet?
