Hey those who have their interview in February and March let us share our thoughts. Also after we finish our interviews, we will get back to this thread to put in our inputs so that the others can benefit.

To begin with, I haven't filled in my DS and other forms yet. Today I received my I-134 and it looks good. I guess I need to make a copy of them.

Mine is on 20th Feb and am soooo nervous.

By the way, LPC was the toughest thing that we had. Got our Passport clearance the same day. But Local Police Certificate took almost 5 weeks. Rest everything was smooth. Hoping for a smooth interview too. My interview is on the 5th day from now (20th Feb). Will surely post about my experience. Wish me luck.

Mine's on 04th March.. Get the jitters sometimes. Looking forward to a lot of approvals to build my confidence As of now - everything is ready, just waiting for my PCC from Local Police Station. Will got it on the 18th. So anytime next week I will go and submit my papers at the VFS.
Then I just wait for Daniel to come here on the 2nd and pray for everything to be fine.

Guess, got too excited too soon. Luckily I called the VFS today to check their timings and they did tell me that. So I will be going there on th 19th

I think their case got sent to Washington for AP, but they have kept her passport (thats good news). Wishing the best for jeta&preeti

Its amazing... you figure all the security checks would have been done all the months we are waiting...

given the ongoing hot topic someone's K1 visa given 221g and that too for 3 applicants in a row, I think we have ample time to review our documentation against Proof of Relation. The list Cjindia mentioned in the thread is frightening, but I don't think that we should panic. We have seen that whenever an applicant comes up with less documentation the consulate always goes for the kill - asking for plenty of info. So, instead of worrying, let us put here what we have so that if anything is lacking, the seniors or others will come up with the missing things. For those who have already handed over to VFS, you still can get some more which you can submit at the time of interview.

I got ready the following against "Proof of Relation"
1) Emails: one per month for 21 months. Email correspondence with other members of Fiancee's family also enclosed (5 mails)
2) Photos: two with Fiancee, one with their family, one with friends
3) Phone: listed the call details of my calls made to my spouse through my VoIP. This was possible because my spouse's provider gave her a web interface where she usually checks her calls, payments etc. related to that phone number. For 21 months the calls came around 300
4) Travel: my fiancee made one trip to India. Itinerary and all our e-tickets copy. Also I enclosed my itinerary and tickets copy for the trip I am going to undertake to visit my fiancee's parents next week

Important thing here is we aren't officially engaged yet. We planned to do so after we get K1.

I think they will laugh at our phone bills. Daniel and I make about 250 calls to each other in a month (thats our average, no matter how much we keep telling each other to cut down on the calls and the bills)

RSA, include a few more pictures of both of you if you can.. Pictures always tell a story and give you something to talk about at the interview about ur relationship.

I have included about 12 pics in all and have written a bit about each picture at the back (some comments are even funny, coz we were being funny in the pics)

We do not have any pics of the engagement either coz Daniel proposed to me at like 3 in the morning and I said 'Yes' and wore the ring - No proof, except the ring. Don't think that should be a problem though..

We submitted :
100 photos. 20 of them had detailed descriptions. The photos were of me and her(at Delhi, at dinner, at the engagement party, and the rest were with her and my parents, the two of us and friends and family, and at her sisters wedding).
4 trips- all the ticket stubs and passport pages showing stamps
submitted- literally 200 emails..
cards and envelopes- she sent to me for my bday, v-days
photos of gifts I gave her
list of the guests that attended the party
phone bill(16 months worth)
her voting lists, ration card(they asked for this last time they gave her a 221g)
letters of support(my parents, her parents, her uncle, my friends(VP and Directory at a major international bank), and a congressman.)

Now my problem is.. if they ask for more evidence..

i dont know what to give them.. we have some more pics..
and I have prepared writeups if they ask why I want to marry her

Yes well I had to... I wanted to give as much info as possible. We sent each other alot of ecards. I couldnt print those out, but I printed out the actual email confirms on them.

Delhi can be so weird.. they can approve quick or they can have a bad mood and harass...

Wow!! cjindia all our proof put together is still no match for yours..
All I can count on is, that I know Daniel and almost everything about him. Anything I might not know, I can make very knowledgeable guesses (99.9% correct too if not 100%) ... Hopefully they can see that when they see the two of us together at the consulate.

This is frightening now.

I dont have that much of documentation. And interview is on the 4th day from now. Am asked by my fiance not to worry anymore but I cant help myself. And after knowing ur preperations am scared now.

- I dont have much of pics. Some 10-12 only.
- Since we exchanged rings in front of my family we do not have any bill accept my engagement ring. Invoice doesnt have my Fiance's name spelled correctly either.
- Boarding passes and tickets were submitted by my fiance along with I-129F. I havnt got copies of them with me.
- I did not have much time in hand to submit my docs at VFS. Hence I paid only the courier fee to retain my interview date.
- Our case falls under IMBRA bcoz we met online. We dont have its payment receipt either.

Tell me, do you guys think I can be in trouble???

I think I should take a break from all the worries. Thats what my Fiance has asked me to do. He thinks our documentation is just fine.

As for personal interview is concerned I can tell about anything and everything about my Fiance, his past, our future, about my to-be family, for hours and hours. For the matter of fact, my fiance feels that I get to know about whats happening in his family much before he gets to know about it.

My fiance wont be able to join me for the interview but I understand his constraints. We will have a long vacation soon after marriage to fill in. As of now we are gleaming with so much love and joy, that am sure cant get unnoticed by the CO either.

And as my fiance said I must take a break for couple of days, I will be back on VJ soon after my interview.

Please keep in mind my fiance and I are overly prepared because we went thru this already. Typically they are very suspicious of Punjab applicants, i guess there was alot of fraud.. that is why we went overboard...

last time, we only submitted about 5-6 photos, 100 emails.. no letters of support, a few passport stamps..we got a 221g, asking for her voting list... and ration cards.. we submitted it.. and then it was too late.. 4 months passed from the USCIS approval and they sent it back.. but now we have 2 months between our interview and the expiration, so hopefully this time we are prepared...

I am confident that you guys will all do fine.. I have the jitters because we got screwed last time.. we were pretty confident.. and then it came crashing down..

I just checked Chennai list of interviewees for March 08 and found 2 K1 on 6th March. On the whole the number of K1 for that month is 25!

About my interview progress, I collected additional 10photos but none of them have both of us in it at the same time I am yet to fill in my DSs which I will do so today/tomorrow. Plan is to submit all docs on 19th to VFS. Then I would be away to Ludhiana between 22nd-27th to meet my fiancee's parents.

Hey cjindia, we understand .. just get the jitters too sometimes.. everything will be fine. Its not very easy to go through this whole process again.

RSA, Don't worry too much about the photos.. I was looking through my ppwk and just thinking hard .. Realised I have a few fedex and dhl receipts of the gifts etc we sent to each other, a couple of mails to friends talking abt my wedding dress, the ring etc - just seems like random stuff. Found a couple of random pics of me in a jacket he got for me, him wearing a watch I sent to him. Even the fact that he has already gotten a 10 yr visa to India stamped on his passport. Come to think of it - isn't all that proof of a relationship too.

Be creative, you'll be surprised at how much random stuff you can find that talks about your relationship

I just returned from document submission at VFS, Hyderabad. Everything went fine except for two
a. I didn't have exact change of Rs.365/- and I had to go around to get it
b. A photo has to be affixed on DS 230-I at the left hand top corner. Luckily I had a spare one with me.

I had handed-over every thing I had except for passport. I am yet to go to medicals. At the time of interview what more I have to take alongwith me apart from passport and medicals?

ow...Gudluck CJindia....My fiance submitted thedocs too...for some strange reason the dumb lady there didnt take the affidavit of support and the proof??? wish we had smarter ppl working at the VFS....for when I calld the embassy they said she shudve taken it! I hope that doesnt change much or cause any delay...

Hey Everybody,

I am back after the Interview... and u know what!!!!!!!!!!!!!..... I got the VISA

I know... everybody is nervous about their interview, and so was I. Here goes my experience :-) Hope this will calm you a bit.

I had my interview today (20th Feb) at Delhi. Reporting time 8:00 am.

I woke up at 5.30 in the morning. (Infact couldnt sleep properly the whole night)
Reached consulate by 7.15 am. The Security guy asked us to wait outside (not in the queue) as they start forming the queue after 7.30am. At 7.30am we went through the initial security check and formed the queue outside the consulate. By 8.00am we started getting into the consulate.

They screened contents that we carried and took our interview letters. We were then asked to wait untill our names are called out. At around 10.30 am my name was called and I was asked to reach Window 16. On window 16, there was a officer who had our file containing all the documents including I-129F. He was going through our file and asked for the Forms (I-134, DS156, DS 156K, etc). I forwarded him the folder which had all the Forms. He checked and took the documents he needed. Letter of intent was not taken. Rest of the documents were returned back to me. But he said that I am missing 1040 Tax Papers. Thanks to VJ and other research work, I told him that Tax papers are needed if a person is self employed. Since my fiance is employed we are forwarding W2 with job letter and paystubs. I showed him the instruction sheet also for Affidavit of Support. He was surprised to see our awareness about of the process and said that if the CO asks then we must tell this to him too.

He then asked me deposit the visa fee (Window 7) and bring its receipt to him.
At Window 7, I gave Banker's Cheque for Rs 5240/- which they accepted. This is one thing I was worried about. However its confirmed now that Banker's cheque is equivalent to Demand Draft. I came back to Window 16 and gave him the receipt. He asked me to wait again untill I am called. At around 11.45am I was called on Windows 14. And this time I knew it was my call for personal interview with the CO.

CO was pretty nice and asked me a couple of questions like -

1) Who is in US?
2) For how long he has been in US?
3) What he does for living?
4) How did u meet?
5) How many times you have met him? --- we have met only once. No red flag.
6) Where did you meet?
7) For how long he was here?
8) Did he come to meet you or he had some work?
9) When did you get engaged?
10) How many people attended the engagement? ---- Less than 10. (My family and Fiance). Not a red flag either.
11) what do you do? Company & Profile
12) Why are not getting married in India?

I found questions very generic. And Probably he was focusing on how confident we are.
After this he said "Congratulations you got the visa. You will get you visa in a weeks time through courier". I asked him if its possible to collect the visa personally. He said for that we need to contact VFS and inform them not to courier it.

I will be calling VFS tomorrow. And if my visa is ready with them I will collect it.

By the way I did not find anything weird in Delhi Consulate. If was absolutely fine. Process, Documentation required, CO, everything was good. I got free by 12.15pm.

Two other important things that I noticed which is also some of the VJers concern -
1) Petioner is allowed to accompany the beneficiary. Though he is not allowed to answer for the beneficiary.
2) There is a snacks counter within the consulate.

So my experience says, people who are appearing for interview in Delhi, do not panic. There is nothing to worry. If you are confident about your case and your relationship, keep the faith and go for the kill.

I noticed that this thread consists of people with their SO in India. I have question regarding getting couple of certificates in India for my wife. The Chennai consulate says the following regarding one of things to be submitted for the consulate interview:

"Police Certificate: Each visa applicant over the age of 16 must present Indian police certificates as follows: one certificate from the applicant's local police station and one certificate from the applicant's regional passport office..." (http://chennai.usconsulate.gov/fiance/fiancee_visas.html#k3_k4).

My questions are:
1. What is a Police Certificate? Can my wife just go to a local police station and ask for it? Is there a standard format? How long has it taken for you to get a Police Certificate?
2. Did you get a certificate from regional passport office in addition to one from local police station? How is this certificate different from the one obtained from local police station? How long has it taken you to get one?
3. Is there a validity period for these certificates? Meaning, if they are older than few months, will the consulate not admit it?
4. My wife spent more than 6 months in several places after the age of 16. These places include - her home, her studies (different state), her job (different state) etc. Does she need to get her "Police Certificates" from all these places?

Sorry, lot of questions, but I hope it is not too much of a trouble. Since you all are waiting for interviews and have gone through this process, I hope it will not take too much of your time to help me with this.
