There are two kinds of PCC
1. PCC from regional passport office. I got it in 3 days and the fees is Rs. 300 and is valid for 6 months. You can download the form from the website.
2. PCC from local commissioner office. I got it in 10 days and the fees is Rs. 500 and is valid for 1 year. You need to approach the special branch in the local commissioner office.

If your wife has spent more than 6 months in several places then she needs to get PCC from each city.

All the Best

Let me add that there has to be proof of residence to get a local PCC. For instance, my husband lived in Hyderabad for 2 years working, but because he had no proof (no lease agreement, no local bank account, etc.) they would not give him a PCC. Luckily, the PCC from the passport office (in Visakhapatnam) and his village were sufficient. Though he had a Hyd address for all correspondence, no one requested a PCC from there.

I wrote to the New Delhi Consulate abt PCCs as my father was in the military and we were always moving from 1 place to the other.. As per what I knew - I would have needed PCCs from 4 places..
Here's the reply I got from the Consulate -

Dear Parul:

This is in response to your inquiry regarding the K-1 visa application.

The validity of PCC is one year from the date of its issuance. You need to obtain first PCC from local area police station

where you are residing for the past six months or more. The second PCC is required from the regional passport office.

Thus we need only two PCCs from India. Applicants who have resided in any other country for one year or more after

The age of 16 may also be required to submit police certificates for these countries.

We hope this information is useful to you. However, please contact us in case of any clarification.

Sincerely,

Visa Information Unit

U. S. Embassy

New Delhi, India

Hope this info helps people who are confused about PCCs good.gif

All of this waiting. All of this hoping. And now............we have an interview date and we are both scared to death! So much to do before 3/24. We are both feeling overwhelmed and nervous and wondering how we are going to get everything together (He's still waiting for the passport office certificate, and it may not arrive on time to be able to submit to VFS). Eeekkkk! unsure.gif

Congrats on getting the interview date... I can understand the nervousness, I am beyond being nervous now - total PANIC situation (interview on 3/04) tongue.gif
Don't worry abt not submitting PCCs at the VFS - I didn't get my PCC in time either. Just submit all the other docs in time and make sure to give them plenty of evidence too even if they say its not required. Everybody knows that getting the PCC in time is not in your hands and they understand.
All the best for your interview rose.gif rose.gif

Thanks, DanielParul! I can not even imagine how nervous you must be! Just keep the faith and think positive. Soon it will be over and you will be together again! Good luck! good.gif

Hello Fellow Members,
Just want to let everyone know that my wife's K3 Visa is approved!!!! kicking.gif biggrin.gif.

Here is some information on what went on at the interview.

1) Reached there at 7:30am
2) First person to get inside. Got interviewed by 1st Immigration Officer around 8:30. The gentleman only asked for the K3 checklist. Did not ask for any 'Proof of relationship'
3) Was told to pay fee and get fingerprints done.
4) Around 10am, second interview occurred. That gentleman asked alot of question (about 10) and mostly about me and what i do here in America.

Over all it went real smooth!

Quick Question: Does anyone know how long does it take for the Embassy to send the documents over to VFS? My wife had her interview on Monday and she called them up today and VFS office stated that they have not recieved her passport yet. She is planning to leave on Thursday (India Time).

Thanks!

My fiance had her interview Thursday. And VFS still doesnt have it. She called Tuesday morning. But all cases are not the cases Manya interviewed on Wednesday and VFS had her passport on Friday.

By the way... anyone find any good deals from Delhi? Most flights I have found are 800-900 dollars...

I am back from my visit to Ludhiana. Congrats everyone who got their interviews done. Looks like everyone got through. That's a good indication. Tomorrow I will be going to Chennai for my medicals. So made a quick checklist. Let me know if anything is missing.

a) two photos
cool.gif interview letter (original)
c) passport (original)
d) medical forms given in Packet 4

Another question.. Do I need to fill in the medical form beforehand or when the Lister Lab at Chennai do their diagnostics?

Thanks,
ravi

Hi Ravi,

My Medical was done in Delhi. I was asked to carry 2 photos, Interview Letter and the passport.
Am not sure about Medical Forms. May be someone who had their medical in Chennai may help clearing your doubt.

By the way... Dont forget to keep the money wink.gif

I took my x-ray and the medical report to VFS. They took the report but told me to take the x-ray to the Consulate for the Interview...
Don't know abt Chennai.... Would keep it though (having it will not harm, not having it might)

Hi All,
I 've been a quiet visitor/reader of this thread (mostly due to time constraints due to workload) but seeing lots of recent action in this thread, I just wanted to say CONGRATULATIONS AND my BEST WISHES to all the recent visa approval. I am really happy for you guys.

Also, GOOD LUCK to all who has their interview date coming up good.gif My positive thoughts and prayers for you all...

I had a question for you: Have you heard anything about appoint visa processing for K1? My fiancee has sent packet-3 to consulate. Is there anything else we need to do - do we need to send anything to NVC?

Hi Bengalilover..
As far as the Mumbai K1 visa appointment is concern, I wont be able to comment about it since I have no idea about it myself. But I just hope that your SO gets one ASAP. From my K3 experience, all I can say is, once Mumbai received my wife's Packet3 back from her, they mailed her Packet4, which has the visa appointment date/letter in it, in about 10-15 days...You can find more info about it in my sig below.

As far as dealing wth NVC is concerned, its my understanding that once your case leaves NVC (and it sounds like yours already has since you mentioned mailing back P3)
and is enroute to local embassy, you dont have to send anything to NVC. You start dealing with local embassy.

Hope this helps. TC and good luck.

Thanks so much pKewl! Wish you happy married life.

Thanks Manya, Parul and Bengalilover. With your wishes, I am sure I will make it through.

I just recieved THE phone call that I 've been so anxiously waiting for : My wife's K3 visa has been approved biggrin.gif

The interview process was relatively simple but she did tell me that she was asked about 15 - 20 questions surrounding my job and our wedding. I will post the full review later as I get more information.

I wanted to say THANKS A LOT to all of my felllow VJers for their time, help and making this tough VJ a little easier. I appreciate all of your wishes, good luck and prayers. I am sure it played a big part in getting my wife's visa approved. Once again, thanks much.
