Does anyone know for sure how long can I stay in my home country with the AP document. The AP itself is good for a year, but what's the maximum time for me to stay in my home country so they wouldn't say I abandoned my Green Card application?

You need to be back before the expiry date on your AP document. You can be absent from the US for up to one year. Any longer than that and you must request a reentry permit. I'll try to find the link for you.
