So, I have booked my move with Upack for Monday Feb. 25th even if I haven't recieved my stamped passport in the mail yet. I am starting to panic some since my package seems untrackable on the Canada Post website(dilemma : Canada Post didn't update the website or US Consulate didn't send my passport as they said they would last Friday). ANYWHO.. enough about that

So I've been looking at the Customs Form 3299 which is required to be filled out when sending goods through Upack. A few questions have me wondering if Im correct, so I thought I'd post them here hoping to get some words of wisdom, that can help me(and perhaps others in the same situation).

So in Part 1 :
Question 5 : Importer's port of arrival : I would assume they want where I plan to go through ? What happens if we change our mind and take another route midway?
Question 6 : Name of Arriving Vessel carrier and flight/train : Would this be Upack ? Or just the mark/year of my car ?
Question 7 : Name of Accompanying household members : My husband is coming with me, so perhaps I should right his name and US citizen ?
Do I leave question 8 blank ?

Part 2 :
Question 10 A (2) All instruments, implements, or tools of trade, occupation or employment, and all professional books for which free entry.... I don't have any of these unless you count cookingware as tools of trade. Should I just not check this box ?

Part 4 :
B. For Residents and Non-Residents ONLY
(7) Foreign household effects acquired abroad and used less than one year : What do they mean by foreign household effects ? Is it furniture ? Or everything including clothes ?
(8) Foreign household effects acquired abroad and used more than one year : Same as above ?[/color
D. Asks to list everything that was checked in part A. B. C. : [color="#FF0000"]Does this mean I have to list every single thing Im bringing with me ? Upack already wants a full itemized list. Can't I just say : see annexed Excel sheet ?

Im just confused, but I want to be able to pack everything and fill this form with a clear head. I'd appreciate any input/help/experience that you can provide.

Oh... and I read in another thread that tires are prohibited items to be imported into the US ? So that means I have to leave my summer tires and rims behind ? :/ Are there other items that I should worry about bringing into the US ?

I think they need the port of arrival of where your GOODs will arrive, not you. I'm assuming that you are not accompanying your goods, which is why you're doing the 3299 right?

The name of the carrier taking your goods.

I don't think you need to fill that part in, because you're not travelling with your stuff are you?

put "none"

They mean anything that is in your stuff that you have owned for less than one year. I just put "none"

IIRC, I put "see attached lists" in that spot, because I had something like 80 boxes of crap plus my furniture and other stuff. There's ont enough space to list it all right there, but customs needs to have a copy of it. I had photocopies for the truck driver to give them with the 3299.

I have no idea about tires. The trucking company should know I would think.

Bleh. That sounds like a pain. So glad the moving company took care of all those details for me. Does anyone else feel like if they have to fill out any more forms they'll lose their mind?

Thanks for the information Reba. I'll try calling Upack again on Tuesday when Im off. I called them from work this week and they called me back when I was in the middle of something and couldn't really talk.

Anyone else have experience with Upack and can share some wisdom pearls about the 3299 form ?

I finally got a hold of the people at the ABF Upack terminal in Dorval(near Montreal). Good thing I speak French as they seem to know no English

Anyways, for Port of entry, I write Champlain, New York, because that's where my stuff goes through, and I leave #6 and #7 blank.

#10 I don`t check the box

As for household effects = furniture, etc
Personal effects = clothes, books, etc

I don`t have to relist them, I can just write see attached list.

And I can import my tires/rims. I just have to make sure to write it on the list.
