Full Version: When can I apply for citizenship?

ILLEGAL ALIENS
I have been in USA since September 2005. I have left the country couple of times to visit home just around 2 weeks each time. And I am looking at the citizenship guide now, it says if you are 18 years old or more and is married to a US citizen you have to be a 3 year resident but I have been a resident for 2 years and 4 months(Sep 2005 to Feb 2008) but married to my wife more than 3 years...

I also see under some topics some people apply for citizenship while their condition removals are pending...My conditions are removed and I am expecting my new GC any day in the mail. So What am I supposed to do? Just wait until September 2008 to fill 3 years of residency, or Can I apply right now?

Thanks for all the helpsmilie.gif

Hope you all successful processes...
Jenn!
You can file 90 days before you reach the 3-year residency requirement.

Good luck and congrats on your recent approval. good.gif

90 days before the 3-year anniversary of when you got your green card approved. So in your case, sometime in June 2008.
