i got my greencard last year in march and i just now realized that i have to change my ssn card cause it still says "not valid for work...only with dhs authorization"
am i gonna get in trouble cause i didnt change it last year??
do i just show up at the ssa office , fill the form and they're gonna send me a new one in like 2-3 weeks? ( thats how long it took for me to get my first ssn card)
anyone knows?

I only had mine changed last week and I've had my GC for 6 months. I just went to the SS office, asked to have it removed, the lady asked to see my GC, asked if I had my SS card with me (no!) and said the new card would be a couple of weeks.

So, don't worry.

Same as what Mags said. Luz just showed them her GC and filled out a form. She got her new SSN card in a few weeks.

You don´t have to have it changed. I still have mine with the "not valid ...." on it. All you have to do if you do decide you want to work is show proof, that you have INS authorization and that would be your greencard.

This wont cause a problem, the green-card makes the SSN card "Valid".

SSN does want to know when immigrations status changes. (NON-Immigrant --> Immigrant (Green-Card) AND --> Citizen (Natrualization))

i mainly want it changed because of the tax return...it asked there check the box if ur card says valid for work only..... and if i click that its a lot less money....so thats the reason i want it changed.
