Hi Nigel.

Sounds like you have your hands full and busy there working on your home. Gosh it seems just like yesterday you were on here waiting. It's been several months and that seems impossible.

Yeah I guess we filed just a tiny bit later than we should. Not sure why things came to a hault over there. You know sometimes It would be nice if they would just give you a straight answer. Tell you they are just back logged and running behind because of vacations, busy doing other things. Anything is better than getting a canned response to an email.

Oh well after a couple of weeks of feeling flustrated and devistated, well I think I'm at peace now. Well at least I don't feel like I'm having a panic attack all the time.

OK Vicky get us on that darned list.

I got my visa approved but Alan has had to do the waiver, they are saying it is a CIMT ( 35 years ago would you believe when he was 17) but he also had a couple of other stupid things from 19 and 24 so here we are joining you just when you are getting ready to leave.

Let's see how long it will take, the one good thing I feel positive about is that the CO said he was recommending that they approve the waiver in light of the length of time since the offences and Alan's ages at the time

By the way Vicky, how do I get onto that site to watch the process, not that I want to become a habitual "watcher" by any means )

Munchkins, Bailey ect.....There is proberly members out there who might file a waiver here soon, its just they have'nt seen this forum yet.....i shall keep my eyes and ears open on vj and if i do come across a member then i will pm them about this uk 601/212 waiver forum....please guys do the same if you hear about anybody as me myself would like to keep this waiver club open....as i was the member who started this at the start until Vj website crashed but parts of the 601 club was saved by Vj Staff thankgod....

munchkins..ya on ya last hurdel, and this is no feild trip...as other members can tell ya....but keep busy and try not to go insane as it will get to you....im sure everyone is rooting for ya...

Anyway....im back in the uk for a bit as i need to get bills payed ect but hopefully be back for at least xmas holidays....

Here is some info i can pass on tho....for any member who gets around in doing there driving test in Florida..
If you want to get a D/L in Florida you can go to myfirstdriveinglicence.com and take the test online....it cost about $28 plus if you want the pass cert sent via e/mail it cost $10...The Test last for 4hrs....
By doing this test online saves you going and waiting at the D/L office...as you can stop and start when you want but when it comes to the last bit it ask you 25 Questions on rd signs and Florida rules each answer must be answered within 50 secs which got to admit my wife helped me out and i bloody failed, i cussed her! As you can only get 4 wrong answers and she messed up on a few...so after a few days cooling down i went to the D/L office and waited in line and done my writen test there at the Office....which im happy to say i passed and got 24/25....Then i ask if i can take my Rd Test, they said yep and so this man took me outside checked the car ect then i drove around the parking lot for 5 mins..REALLY 5 mins it was a joke. ..he looked at me and said congrats ya have passed ya test ....i was gobsmacked looking for cammeras ect as it was a joke of a Rd Test.....
Anyway i payed nothing for the writen test there at the office but if i failed then you pay $5 for each time...
you have a standard eye test which for me was finding a bit hard as ive got a dodgy left eye but did get through it some how....
once everything is passed then you pay $20 and then they give you a temp licence until ya real one turns up, as they said about 30 days....

Oh yep i have got a uk D/L and did show them so i think 'they' give you a break on the Rd Test but still had to do the writen test tho...but really its a walk in the park..

I wanted this D/L as everywhere i was going shops ect they asked for I.D and all i had to give them was my PR card and was cracking me up as everyone shows the D/L.

You can apply for ID at the office and it looks the same as ya D/L and this also cost $20 thats if ya dont drive you will need a SSN/passport and R/C to show before anything, so have that at hand before you go..
If anybody needs to revise for the test ask whoever to get you the book so then you can read up well before you even do the test...but if you drive in the uk most of the signs ect is the same and ya find it easy..just dont get ya wife to help ya like i did tho..as she found out rules ect has changed since she done her D/T many moons ago.....well...not changed i should say she just Forgot lol

The info you have given on the DL in Florida is good but I think I too will wait and do it when I am there, I have loads of the road signs which I pulled of the DL site and so am studying them and if the driving part is just 5 mins in Jacksonville, (my daughter had already told me it is a joke compared to ours in the UK) then I will do the same as you did

I was in your daughter's area last wk Merril Rd, having a tooth pulled but was'nt bad service and cost $56 but that was the excess i had to pay as my wife has dental insurance so it helped some cash wise..
One Dentist wanted to charge me $450.00 to do a root cannel so out of pocket would have had to pay $150.00 like thats 100 pound....so having insurance is a plus but still have to pay excess....The insurance companys rip ya off....my wife gets $40.00 deducted every 2 wks...but still worth having if ya can...

Nice hearing from you Nigel....do you know anything about driving a automatic in England. We have a automatic car for me here and the insurance companys said my american licence was fine for 12 months but I was wondering if there were alot of instructors that give test over here in automatics. I don't drive a manual gear shift......Never was taught and with all the hills everytime I practiced it scared the crap out of me so we just got me a automatic.....

Also Vicky...we finally started the process again!!!! I think it was about 3 weeks ago! Don't know if you want to add us to the list again!!! The check still has yet to be cashed.....it's driving me insane and i am only at the first stage. I need to quit checking my bank account!!! We went through the Nebraska Service Center because I haven't lived here in England long enough to go straight through London! THe journey begins again!!!!! AHHHHHHH!

Just also wanted to say my big goodbye to this thread!!

Vicky, munchkins, Beetee, Tiff, Nigel and all the others, you have been very supportive for me and my wife when we went through the waiver hell at the beginning of the year,and I thankyou for every word of support. But for me now the journey is over, thank god, and hopefully I should get my greencard next week. Me and C will move to the coast the week after and then we'll be really planning on moving forward with our married life.

I'm so glad I leave you with the recent approvals and to the others that are just beginning the journey: don't lose hope and faith, it is a long and stressful wait, but you should get through it...

Ok....D/L here in the Uk...yep there is plenty of instructors here for automatics.....Call BSM im sure they will have what ya need with them...im not sure where ya at right now but look up in the yellow pages for there local offices...

If not then ill get Maurean rees to learn ya to drive as there was a tv show where they was shownig people how to learn to drive and her hubby whos a bus driver was teaching her.....man that show was a trip she was so nervous it took about 10 times to pass her test but not stick shift she passed in the end by a auto.....you wouldnt know about that programe but uk members will remember it....anyway she lives just down the rd and i see her walking her dog and that im pleased as she was a danger to herself and everyone else so if she can do it im sure ya have no problems.....

Nigel that was not a bad price to pay for a dentist, it's more than comparable to over here I think .

Had a lovely visit from my son and his partner yesterday and my youngest grandson, they live in Kent and are up for a visit but because we really have no room for them and we have two big rottweilers, it is easier for them to stay with his father. It was wonderful to see them and cheered my up no end, he's such a little character my grandson

Glad to see that you have not got too much longer to wait before you and Chris are back together Vicky, it's going to be a wonderful christmas for you both

I'm still looking in here. Can't help myself. After so long I can't seem to stop. As soon as someone gets here i'm sure I will be busy for a while. I know your disappointed they didn't get you on the list but they updated the list late. They had been updating it on Fridays but they didn't do it until Monday this week. I also noticed they completed several more cases and put several more under review. Our case even rolled off the bottom of the list because so many new ones were completed. So they must be picking up some speed now. I know what they guy said to you at London but I would give them a couple of weeks before they put you on the list. It really does go by faster than you think. Except for the last few weeks. That drove me nuts.

Nice to see you Vicky, funny thing is I am not checking the list everday since you told me they only update on Friday's and I did not expect to be on it so soon despite what the guy said. I know administration and government admin is by far the worst of any type, couldn't organize a p**s up in a brewery as we say here.

It will come when it will come until then I will just keep myself busy, I am starting a temp job next week seeing as how I gave my notice in and left my own job before we even went for the interview, had just about had enough of it so the temp one will be a nice change and they tod me I will be really busy, which I am glad about and lucky for me it is only 5 mins from where I live.

At the moment I am landed with the task of taking our two rotties to the park for their walks and that takes over an hour and a half and I do power walking, which is sure helping the weight to come off

Our only fear was that we had sold the house but we are managing a few delaying tactics at the moment but if we have to sign the house over before the approval we have all that sorted so no worries there. Just hope you are right Vicky and they are speeding up, would dearly love to get out there before Christmas or is that wishful thinking

Not to worry we have waited 13 months since the start of this process, 3 more months is not going to kill me, cause it is for the rest of our lives

Hey guys I just wanted to post one final message as I thought this may help the recent people who have had waivers approved and especially when their partners have had CIMT's....

When you go through the whole AOS process you will come across a question that asks "have you ever been convicted of a crime etc... etc..", and then it says if you answer "yes" include documentation etc...

well I remember asking Liam (aka Liam4lisa) about this as he had gone through the whole process a few months before me, and he said just tick yes but don't include anything, and told me it would go to interview and you would have a chance to show the memorandums etc at that point. So that's what I did....

I couldn't beleive it when my case got transferred to the California Service Centre, some cases get transferred here to speed up their processing times, and most get approved without an interview!!!

I still kept thinking they had made a mistake, but last week my AOS was approved and I received my greencard with no mistakes last Monday!!!!

so I just wanted to let you all know that there is a possibility that you mayget lucky and get transferred, the whole AOS process for me took only 3 months, and for that I am very grateful!!

So that's me done with immigration for two years!! I wish everyone on here all the best with their own journeys, feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions when you go through your AOS journeys, I'll only be too happy to help!!

On a sidenote my D/L came and only got 1yr on it...my wife then called to find out and they said something about immigrants only get 1 yr as per the information on my R/C she also said that if i payed $15 then i can renew what the hell is all that about as i only passed my test 2 wks ago...something is not right there as ive got a G/C for 10yrs...as i came into P.O.E on a IR1 not a CR1 as a CR1 you need to adjust ya status after 2 yrs...something wrong im sure...I ned to look into this..

Boy it's about time something went quick for you. Maybe they were making up for the long wait on the waiver.

I looked at it again today. I know.......i need a spankin. I was just curious. I was wondering if you had made it on there yet. Sorry to hear you had not. I don't think you can believe much of what they say at those interviews. I think they just tell you what they think you want to hear so they don't have to listen to what you say.
One good thing I did notice. They seem to be moving a little bit faster getting the waiver completed. Looked like there were several more completed since ours was and more under review. The more they get done before you get on there the less you have in front of you. I do think the filings slow down in the winter so hopefully that will mean a quicker time for you.

Told you you would not be able to help yourself Vicky, hope you are right about the speeding up, we have a house that is sold and we are trying to delay the signing for as long as we can, so far I think we can get by for the next 7 weeks or so, hopefully they will speed up so much that we could be done and dusted by then Not feeling as bad as I thought I would be, just annoyed really, but it will pass and after all , the move is for life, so another few months won't kill me, (I hope )

Yeah.......... we got the visa Friday. He said it looked just like the travel visa except it said K-1 I told him to put it in a plastic bag and duct tape it to his body. I don't think he was up for that idea. 19 days and I'll be picking him up at the airport then I'm duct taping myself to him. Poor guy!

List has been updated again, that is 4 times since the 13th so they really are going well at the moment

We are still not on it but I am hoping this Friday, if they update again, it would be just so good to see Alan's case number on there

Do you always get a postcard to say that your case has been received from the immigration unit into the DHS???? or have some cases gone on without the beneficiary being notified. Anyone??????

Well we sent our I130 paperwork in 4 weeks ago tomorrow and still nothing. The check hasn't even been cashed....I know it takes a little longer cause of mailing it from the UK but still....I am already getting stressed out and we are only in the early stages.....again!

No I've never heard of anyone not getting the post card. Except for REALLYWORRIED and I think something is terribly wrong with his. I do hope he comes back and tells us what is going on with him. He had me worried and I couldn't think of anything to help him. I'm sure you will get yours. More than likely you will show up on the list before you get it in the mail. Wow your on your way. Hope things go smooth this time around. Maybe since your together now it will make things pass by a little quicker. I still think things speed up in the winter time. I don't think as many people file this time of year so hopefully that will be good for you and everyone else.

Well we got the packet back today and it says that we filed with the wrong servicing center. We applied with Nebraska because when asking people on this site that's what everyone told us to do since I haven't lived overseas that long. So now they told us to send it to our Embassy in England which is London. SO I guess we will call them tomorrow to double check and then we are starting again!

Yes time does go by faster when we are together.

Aww sorry to hear about your delay. I kind of wondered about that but I don't know enough about how your filing to say anything about it. I do know that if you go to the page where you can track the waiver list. There is a link to I-130's. Over to the right side it says what dates they are processing.

Thanks for the info....but I just double checked what the website said to do and we did file in the right place. I am here on Limited leave to remain and it is valid for 2 years so it says on the the uscis to apply with our district office where we reside in the US...which is Nebraska. So now we are lost on where to file....I left a message on the DCF filing forum and thought maybe someone can help. Also I called CUstomer Service and they were no use. So tomorrow I am going to have my husband call the American Embassy in London and see if he can get anywhere with this! I sure hope we do!!!! URRRRGGGGHHHH!!!

Oh I don't have a clue on this one. Like I said I just noticed that page when I was watching the waiver list. I wonder if something on the paperwork is not filled out right? Maybe a wrong box ticked or something. Heck I don't know enough about that to even comment. Could just be another example of USCIS not knowing their own procedures. Hope someone will have an answer for you soon.

well we checked with our old lawyer and he told us to apply with the London DCF....so we sent our new paper work out on Tuesday...we sent it recorded delivery.

Check today and they received it yeah!!!

Hopefully we will here something soon!

That's great. At least you didn't loose too much time. Do you know how long it will be when you will get to file the waiver? I don't know much about how the process works the way your filing now.

London had a burst of energy there for a while but seems to be back to Friday updates again. Hopefully they will keep a steady pace now and not be so sluggish.
