Folks, my Fiancé' was approved Feb. 7 for a K-1 Visa at the Manila embassy, yea!! Is she required to get a Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) Certificate before she can come to the US? I thought everything was done except the flight halfway around the world but now I'm not sure. Any help would be appreciated.

Its a Philippines specific requirement. She will need to attend the CFO seminar before being allowed out of the airport.

Hello,

yes, this is a requirement of all applicants of a K-visa, even filipinas married to an American citizen. I feel so sorry for you cause without the attending of a CFO seminar, a certificate and the stamp the immigration service requires, she will not be able to leave the country. This is a fact so my suggestion to you would be to instruct her to go to the CFO next week and go thru the seminar, after which she will receive the certificate and once your visa is delivered, go back to the CFO for the stamp. I am surprised that someone hasn't notified you of this requirement. Let me know if you have anymore questions and I or someone on here will be glad to help.

They are on AR (Administrative Review) and it could take 4-6 weeks most of the time... As for your CFO concerns, your fiancee needs to attend the Guidance and Counseling Seminar and then after that, she will need to register at CFO main office to get her stamp/sticker. Without all these, she will never be allowed to leave the country even if she has her visa, plane ticket and luggage. If she received her visa already, she can do the two-part CFO in one day. Here's the website that could help you: www.cfo.gov.

Good luck!

It is required for every Filipino who is planning to go out of the country..She need to have a stamp/sticker on her passport coz the airport immigration people will look for it and will not allow her to go if she doesn't have it..Its just easy, she can do it in one day..Good luck.. biggrin.gif
