Based on what I read in various posts, no one is allowed to go inside the embassy with the applicant during the interview. I am a disabled person (I walk in crutches) and I'd like to bring a companion with me (my sis-in-law) to assist me with carrying my things and documents (it's bulky I'm sure). If this is the policy, should I write a letter to the embassy to inform them with this concern to allow my companion to go with me during the interview? Thanks in advance for your valuable info.

When my mother-in-law had her interview they allowed her oldest daughter inside with her, even into the consul's cubicle, because she speaks so little english. Seems your situation would be similar.

I believe your companion will be allowed under the circumstances, just make sure she also brings a valid ID. Goodluck!!!

It's understandable (and obvious) that you will need an assistant so I'm sure they will let your sister in-law inside with you. Like what Myla said, make sure she got an ID too.

Good luck!

I think you will be allowed to bring a companion with you. Don't think they would be that bad.. I agree, just have your companion bring at least 2 valid IDs.

Thanks to all your replies. I'm just worrying a little about this part. I think they will allow my companion to go inside the embassy with me too, but not so sure about it. I remembered when I went to get my passport in 2006 at DFA Cebu, the guard allowed my sis-in-law to get inside the building at the same time give me priority to process my passport over other applicants. I hope it is the same at USEM. Thank you guys!
