Well I dont like their Business practices but they are right across from the Embassy so I might have to live with it.

Their current rates, according to their webpage, are $60 a night plus 10% service charge and 15% gov't fees. A total of $75 a night. This is what I was quoted.

2 days ago they had a "package" for local residents for $57 a night with the same 10%/15% fees, resulting in a total of $71.25 a night. I mentioned this in my reply to their $75 a night quote, as my fiancee is a local resident, and then went to bed.

I woke this morning and their webpage had been modified to remove this package. And I got an email telling me that I have to pay the $75 a night.

Anyone else had any trouble with them? I dont want to make the reservation and then have them tell me that it will be $100 a night after the fact.

i actually stayed in bayview when i had my interview back then. i made a reservation and charged me like P3000 more or less. then i read some post in the forum that its better to book/reserve it with a travel agency so i cancel my reservation and booked it to asiatravel.com (i think) and paid a thousand less so it was P2000... its best for the local or your fiancee to book or reserve by phone so they wont play on you. it happened to us before so now my husband will let me call the hotels in phil and talk to my language so they cant mess up with their price.

I know what you mean believe me; but you know what you will just have to cope with it if you want their service. Anyways its still up to you if you want to stay there at that hotel or just find a different one. The reason I like that hotel is like you said, its just across the street from the USEManila. Last week my wife got upset with me for asking her to stay the night in Bayview for her medical and apparently she didn't like it one bit. Yeah I too have a big problem understanding their ticket confirmation. It was a big mess really but she got through it. Now, I just made another reservation at the Bayview Park for her Interview next week and the reason why I made it there again is again because it is on a good location. I told my wife she will just have to suck it up and just stay there this last and final time. I know sometimes its hard for us to do things like this especially since we are so very far away. I booked at Bayview 3 weeks ago for my Interview this coming Friday. I choose it coz it's just a walking distance from the Embassy. I didn't have a hard time with the booking. I booked using Hoteltravel.com and it was just easy. I got it for $56 per night. In some sites it is even higher than that. I find Hoteltravel.com to be very convenient. I have used it a number of times before whenever I'm in Manila. And yes I agree, proximity wise, Bayview is a good choice.

Actually I just went to asiatravel and submitted my request for reservations.
They only want $56 a night and say nothing about service fees or gov't taxes.
I'm having her stay an entire week as having her go back home would not be cost effective. Another round trip ticket for her and her traveling companion would be about $200. I was quoted a 9 day stay for the price of a 7 day stay.
My final cost is less than the cost that I was quoted even with asiatravel saying I'mm have to pay for 9 days.
They will respond in 6 to 24 hours, depending on time zones? But considering this is day time over there I think it will be more like 6.

how i wish i have read this thread before making my reservation. an hour ago i made a reservation online (bayview's site), charging me $6 for the reservation fee (non-refundable) and the remaining $69 will be paid upon checking in. i just checked hoteltravel.com and it is $56 per night. i should have saved $19.

I wouldn't worry about it. That kind of thing is common in the Philippines. They all pretty much charge foreigners more because they know that foreigners can afford it better than locals. They charge what the market will bear, and if they know a foreigner is involved they will typically charge more.

Here is something bad that happened to me regarding Bayview:
My wife was not a rich woman- she had a menial job working in an internet cafe, and sent a lot of what she had off to the village to help her mom. So she did not have a lot of jewelry or nice clothes. I asked her to go to Bayview the day I was to arrive to confirm our reservation, and THEY WOULD NOT LET HER IN until she showed them a printout of the reservation confirmation. i know that this too is common in the Philippines, and it makes me sick.

I have said this kind of thing on other forums and gotten nasty replies from Filipinas who said that they never had problems like that- well, I doubt that these Filipinas tried it with a provincial accent wearing nothing but rubber flip-flops and a tshirt and blue jeans. There is a lot of "classism" in the Philippines.

huh, i didn't have any problems booking & paying for jens room. i called bayview, spoke w/ one of the managers. faxed the required docs. (letter of authorization, debit card front & back & my passport). the next day i got the conformation email, saying the room was paid in full w/ the dates & jen & her cousins name on it. the money was just taken out of my checking..$54 per night (includes all taxes & fees).

I'm gonna opt out of the Bayview... I am going to shop around for good deal hotel rooms when I get there..

I figure I will be able to save more money..

I am currently going through asiatravel.com, they are charging $55 per night, and who know I might get the 2 night free deal as well.
I was required to fax them a document authorizing the charge to my credit card as I will not be one of the room occupants. Along wih a copy of the credit card. No request for my passport thou.
I am currently waiting for them to confirm my reservations.

My husband booked me in Bayview Park hotel for two nights and didn't encounter any.

I booked my wife (fiancee at the time) and her Mother into the Bayview for a week and because they were Filipinos I pay about $20 a night less. There is always the Kano factor

try mabini mansion along U.N avenue. If they didn't change their rate, it's 900 or 950 a night. the room is big with 2 beds for a regular room.

I just booked at Hoteltravel.com on Feb 27 at Bayview, and it was $56..I'm glad i have this thread before I made the reservation at Bayview website because they charge $6 for reservation fee and the fee is different..thank's for all the VJ'rs
