The Mon-Tue-Fri pattern seemed to hold during the three weeks of VSC approving cases. Nowe we haven't seen anything for a few weeks (except for newbies or people with recent biometrics updates). Either, VSC approves TSC filers during slow times or they have simply put us into queue with their own filers in which case there will be another 3 to 4 month wait. Just my five cents...

OK, I broke down and called. I escalated the call to a second level IO after listening to the scripted spiel of the first level person. The best he could do was say we should get a decision in 30-35 days. (Great! My wife is taking the kids to visit her parents in 29 days, and won't be back until 2 days after her extension expires.) When I asked why people with NOA1 dates after ours were approved more than a month ago, the best he could offer in response was to repeat the March 1, 2007 VSC processing date.

The bottom line for us is that we're going to have to get an I-551 stamp because my wife is leaving to visit her parents in a month, plus a special stamp from the consulate because names aren't changed on Colombian passports when a woman gets married (if needs be, they affix a stamp indicating there is also a married name), and the plane tickets are in her married/green card name.

I hope you are right, James. My feeling tells me that we won't see any approvals before May 15th.

Why do you say that, and why May 15th specifically?

I just have that feeling. They updated the processing times on the website on April 15th the last time. I think they will update the website again on May 15th and then they will send out some approvals.
That's just my weird logic because I am trying to come up with some kind of explanation for this craziness.

The explanation is simple. It's called gross mismanagement.

I wouldn't expect the processing time to move up more than a month, to April 1, 2007, at best.

It's an unnecessary, pointless hassle in any event, even if a minor one.

I can't even make the InfoPass now -- I get the message "At this time, there are no information appointments available for the office in your area. Please try back again later." I've heard elsewhere that one sometimes gets that message later in the day, and you have to try first thing in the morning.

Last year I made an infopass... cause I tried to get my passport stamped... And James Good luck with the ####### at the Miami Office, cause for my infopass (September) I went to a different one (not the building on Biscayne BLVD) and the lady was the biggest ###### ever!! Yeah, thanks, I'll keep trying. What else can I do? BTW, when we went in for the name change a couple of years ago, we didn't go to the Biscayne Blvd. building either -- instead, it was at an old strip mall nearby, just west of Biscayne and north of 79th Street.

Hello all...

No news again today. Le sigh. I called USCIS and the message I got was that my case was transferred and to allow 180 days from the date of the transfer before inquiring about my case. The message also assured me that a customer service representative wouldn't have any information that the message didn't already disclose.

So, I don't know what to think. The officer who gave me my stamp at the local office aluded to a letter that was sent to me on March 28th (according to his computer) requesting additional information. But, I never received a letter and every time I call the hotline about it they say they have no record of any activity after the bulk transfer date.

The waiting game continues. I'm going to try to discipline myself not to check daily next week. I'll see if the "watched pot never boils" saying is true. See you all in a week - if I have the willpower to last that long. LOL

Just came on to say that I reveived my email from CRIS informing me that my card was ordered on May 9th. My file was transfered to VSC on Jan 30.

It's conceivable you were sent an RFE (what the local office referred to), it got lost in the mail, and the customer service reps are clueless about it, feeding you instead their scripted responses. Have you escalated any of these calls to an immigration officer? If not, tell them you want to take the call to a second level. You might also want to go back for another InfoPass just to say I never got the letter I was told about at my last InfoPass.

Edit: I'm serious, if you actually were sent an RFE and you don't respond, you could be in for major league trouble.

Congrats Rolltide. May I ask what the first letter of your last name is and that of your spouse? I want to see if the alphabetical order theory still stands.

Updating for Ara4's card receipt.

Staashi, yes, I am an FSU Seminole! But I have no FSU smilies. With two kids now, I kind of wish I were back in Tally -- good place to raise a family.

It doesn't reflect particularly well on VSC. Tomorrow will make it three months that they've received my petition, after it had already been at TSC for ten months. CSC has already approved almost all of the NSC filers that arrived there at the beginning of April. It boggles the mind that CIS transfers long-pending petitions somewhere but then doesn't even act on them for months.

Hello!

Followed up with USCIS again today and they will be sending me a letter requesting additional documentation.

I called the hotline again today and at first she told me nothing had been sent to me, but when I asked why the officer at my recent INFOPASS appointment had mentioned that something had/would be sent out she put me on hold for 15-20 minutes and then said that I should receive a letter in the next 2-3 weeks.

It sounded very much to me that the officer reviewing my case had requested that a letter be sent to me, but that for some reason it was pending in the system and hadn't actually been sent out. Nobody pressed "print" I guess. =O)

My case shows a new touched date for today, 05/12/2008 in case someone wants to update the list. Guess I'll wait and see what they need from me.

Cheers!

P.S. Anyone with upcoming INFOPASS appointments should perhaps really question the officer about whether there is anything outstanding with the case just to make sure there aren't any hiccups holding things up like with mine.

Well, it's too bad you got an RFE but at least now you know that this is what the hold-up has been. It's actually not a little scary. If you hadn't pushed them (or if the officer at the InfoPass appointment hadn't mentioned the letter) you would conceivably just have been left waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting.

My wife has an InfoPass coming up, I'll make sure she quizzes the officer. Although the second level customer service IO I spoke with last week didn't say anything about an RFE.

In one way they are good news and in the other way bad news…. I mean, what about if they are holding all of us for interview or RFE???? I do not want to be negative but it is a possibility….I have more stuff to sent if they want, like taxes and bills, etc… but it pisses me off that we still have to wait!!!! Came on!!! Should I call on my case or should I wait????

Hello!

Followed up with USCIS again today and they will be sending me a letter requesting additional documentation.

I'll be doing the same next Monday.

I had remarked in an earlier post that I spoke with a second level immigration officer a month ago and she said that there was nothing pending/outstanding on the case and that the last action to be taken was the transfer. She mentioned at that time that sometimes the officer reviewing the case doesn't update the National Database right away and to check back in 30 days.

You guys submitted later than I did, so in your cases I wouldn't necessarily suspect a looming RFE. Just alerting you all to the possibility so that if you're still playing the waiting game a month or two from now you start probing a little more vigorously!
Cdn_in_Texas
Oh yeah. And they also said that the January "touch" date was the day the case was transferred from TSC to VSC and the February "touch" date was the date our biometrics were received from ASC - guess those went in two batches.

Quick question for all.

If we all were to write to our senators about the wait and people who filed after us getting approved, do you think that would help us?

I contacted both of our senators two weeks ago. One sent me a form postcard last week saying they'd look into whatever it was I contacted them about and get back to me. I haven't heard boo from the other one.

So let's put it this way: it can't hurt.

Just came on to say that I reveived my email from CRIS informing me that my card was ordered on May 9th. My file was transfered to VSC on Jan 30.

Congrats Rolltide. May I ask what the first letter of your last name is and that of your spouse? I want to see if the alphabetical order theory still stands.

I got a Biometrics appointment yesterday. After showing my receipt for the previous biometrics last year, the officer say that my photo just valid in 15 months. It should be less than 15 months since my previous biometrics ( I did biometrics around March 2007). It is just about 13 months until now. I have no idea what is going on at Vermont. Cdn_in_texas, you and I filed I-751 at a very close time, if what the officer say is true, you could receive a mail from Vermont to do the biometrics again ( no notice by email)

Unbelievable! I hope they didn't make you pay for the biometrics again, did they?

I know that FBI fingerprint checks are good for 15 months. Given that you had your biometrics at the end of March 2007, the only thing I can make out of this is that they don't plan on adjudicating your petition until after the end of June 2008. Or there simply is no sense to be made of it, which would not surprise me given the haphazard way the agency has done things.

No, You don't have to pay again for the biometrics. I had to do mine twice while waiting for my AOS since it took so long. You could always look at it as a two for one sale - although I know we would all prefer a timely processing at the full price biggrin.gif .

Hey fellow losers,

So no approvals? Looks like we are stuck for good.

I did send my passport for renewal today and paid $300 for consulate registration and other fees.

I have a question. My green card was expired July 2007. The extension letter is a proof of my employment till July 2008. (Am I right?)

When can I make Infopass appointment to get stamp in my passport?

Thanks you!

(We all are going to be approved one day. Only God knows when is that day! sigh)

Cassie
My extension letter is expiring the beginning of June. I made an INFOPASS appointment last week for May 19th. I am not sure if there is a particular window of time prescribed to go for a stamp or not.

Good luck with the appointment and keep us updated! Do you mean one year after your green card expiration is June or the letter expiration?

From the extension letter itself:

"Your conditional residence status is extended for a period of one year from date of expiration on your Form I-551, conditional resident card."

My permanent resident card expired June 6, 2007.
One year from that is June 6, 2008.

Therefore, my extension letter expires June 6, 2008, hence me getting a stamp next Monday. smile.gif

I was thinking about doing the same thing. What exactly did you write in your letter? Did you explain the whole case in detail? I find it hard to explain the whole mess to people who have no clue about immigration issues.

I didn't bother to go into a lengthy explanation. I just stated what had happened so far, summarized the proof we had sent, and stated something to the effect that CIS should have long since approved our petition. I have heard absolutely nothing from our Republican senator. On the other hand, I promptly received a postcard from our Democratic senator acknowledging our inquiry, and yesterday received a letter from his office stating that he was contacting CIS but that the agency had 30 days or so to respond to congressional office inquiries.

I don't expect anything much to come out of the senatorial route, but at least it's doing something . . . .

BTW, I note that NSC-CSC Losers with June NOA1 dates are now being approved. These things were transferred to CSC only a month and a half ago, while ours were transferred THREE and a half months ago. WTF is going on with VSC, and why is CSC so much better run?
