Maybe the adjudicating officer will be a little partial...my wife is Canadian. Canadians have a good rap in Vermont....most Vermont residents can identify Canada on a world map....

Question to all those that hev received the e-mail on Feb. 13 2008 (or will shortly, don't lose hope):

Did you notice that the wording said "was transferred and is now pending standard processing at a USCIS office."?

Note they did not say "center". Do they mean a USCIS field office? If so, then this is something new.

Also, if you were to simply check to see where your application was, without ever receiving a letter in the mail, you would not know where the application was... Yup, try and look for any evdience online that our transferred TSC applications are in Vermont. There is no evidence of that now - normally there would be a message like "This case is at our Vermont Service Center". It says nothing like that, if you were touched on Feb. 13, 2008. All it says is a "USCIS office". Why the hell didn't they say "USCIS Center"? There are 4 centers nationwide, but a bunch of offices.

Maybe I am overreacting, but this is the USCIS.

I'll just take their last geographic mention - which was they were transferring to Vermont....but I am not cool about it.

I have not gotten this latest email yet. It looks like all of the people with March 2007 NOA dates have gotten that email, so I am assuming they are sending them out in order of NOA date.

Has anyone with an April 2007 or later NOA date gotten this latest email yet? I hope ours didn't get lost in the transfer.....................

My Noa1 is from May and no notice so far indicating action beyond Feb 4. As to the wording, I think Uscis is simply not precise. They also refer to our cases as "approved" which is supposedly just an internal designation. Hence, I assume we are at Vermont which might be considered an office or center (slash center office).

i predict speedy approvals and letters to everyone stating that their cases have been completed, and an order for the gc to be processed has been issued.

look for this in the next 24-72 hours. valentines day present from the uscis. or wishful thinking on my part... ;-)

Nah, I predict that when the VSC adjudicators clear whatever petitions were on their desks as of our arrival, they will start taking ours in order of NOA1 date. So those with late February/early March NOA1s could see approvals in a couple of weeks, and it will move from there.

People who filed at VSC directly with NOA1s of late August 2007 and later, and who are aware that VSC had actually only been taking about six months instead of the ten months that's posted as VSC's processing time, are probably going to be pissed because their approvals will likely be pushed back a good three months. But that's only the folks here who have been able to track approvals with the master list. A VSC petitioner among the general population who filed in late August is still under the impression that his/her petition won't be approved for another 4-5 months . . . .

Updating me , moben, kn687, kalstravels, tweety, and Angel7422. I'm sure everyone else will get the "received at VSC" email as well today or shortly. The last updated date on the case status service page says 2/14 despite the fact we received the email yesterday (kind of like with the initial transfer email being received 1/31 but the last updated date for that showing up as 2/1), so I'm recording 2/14 as the last touch dates. If anybody's case status says different, let me know . . . .

Okay. I still haven't gotten the e-mail. No touch since the one on 2/04/08. My NOA date is 04/20/08. I'm really starting to freak out, because it seems like almost everyone else got updated. Should I be worried? This immigration process is like a roller coaster---my nerves are totally shot!

Who knows, maybe they're gearing up for their 3-day weekend. It does seem to break in the chronological order of NOA1s. Maybe it's more than just VSC receiving them, it's the sound of the petitions hitting the adjudicators' desks, while the later ones have merely arrived? Probably too much to hope for.

Hmm, it seems I didn't do this right so wil try again. Pardon my ignorance, but what is the difference between a touch (and how in the world and where in the "real world" does this come from) and an update? Thanks in advance for your assistance in explaining this to me. We have not received any e-mail contact from USCIS except the fact that we were transferred. Personally, I wish our old compatriot from TSC Tuck Fexas (Appropriately named dno't you think) were here to raise some Billy HELL, but that is just wishful thinking on my part as I imagine the USCIS people waiting for the glacier to push our files from one side of the desk to the other, measuring the increments of movement in microns per year. Okay I have vented, and stand in line like the rest of you waiting for the meager crumbs that USCIS is doling out, perhaps as observed earlier in the process, VSC is one heck of a lot faster than TSC.

Our NOA1 date on our I-751 to the TSC was April 19, 2007. My wife had her biometrics done shortly thereafter in May. We were also transferred to the VSC back on January 31, 2008. The last update for us shows as 02/04/2008 as well.

Hmm, well, so much for the chronological order theory.

James, didn't the article discuss how USCIS was going to streamline the background check? I read either the same article or a similar article that discussed the backlog and chronic problems associated with USCIS.

my touch date is still stuck at 2/04........ trying not to get too wound up about it!

As some of us will be nearing actual expirations of our NOA#1 within the next couple of weeks/months, has anyone been through the process of getting a renewal stamp in their passport, for the pruposes of travel? In addition, what if the green card takes forever to arrive (I have heard nightmare stories where it can take few weeks -> 6 months from the time card production is orderered, or they screw up something on the card)? I have these questions:

1. How do you go about making an INFOPASS appointment? Do you call, website?

2. After requesting an appointment, within how many days to they actually schedule the appointment? (are we talking days/weeks/months?)

Of course I have heard that you need to provide evidence at the appointment that you intend to travel (booked airline tickets).

I will have to do this for my wife in May, but I need to start making contingency plans - we are dealing with the USCIS.

Appreciate any tips/advice.

Cassie, I think there are enough people with touch dates of 02/04 to warrant the suspicion that you were not forgotten. Maybe the paperwork arrived in Vermont on 02/04 and any further touch indicates selection for review while you and I are still stuck in the waiting line. Alternatively, they might have just stopped entering case numbers after a certain amount on thursday and will resume this upcoming week. With president's day being their holiday, I think many might have taken off on Friday...

Don't worry, Cassie--I am in the same boat as you!!!!! I bet the person that will be handling our files is on vacation, and the files are sitting on their desk and have not been touched yet......

It was actually an editorial in Sunday's Times. It simply discussed the fact that wait times for green cards and naturalization were way up, as well as the news that USCIS had loosened up the FBI background check rule, and contrasted that with the number of employers using the government's immigrant employment verification service and Bush's proposal of giving that particular service another $100 million. Skewed priorities . . . hence the closing quotation, which I put in my sig.

The amount of time until your appointment would depend on your local office.

Someone mentioned somewhere that they are now requiring that you have made a service request through the customer service line and have a service request number before they'll give you an appointment, but I'm not sure about that . . . .

Guten Tag fellow Okie! We are in the same boat, get the same message ever time I check case status, but I am getting tired of cutting and pasting our SRC# to the check your case status inquiry. Perhaps we will get our AOS before expiration date. I notice another post from a TSC AOS submitter who submitted late last year and was sent to the CSC.

Why don't you register for an account and indicate that you want email notification? That way you can just login and see when you were last touched (and receive notifications via email of approval or other major developments).

Anyway, I think it's kind of odd that some of us received these "petition received" emails and others haven't, as if they are still in limbo somewhere between TSC and VSC. I can only imagine that it must mean all of us are at VSC, only some of us have been placed in an "on deck circle" or something like that. Who knows . . . .

Thanks James seems I did that previously but forgot ID and password and did the same dance all over again. Last touch 2/4/08, so I suspect that was receipt from TSC. Curious about the folks who transfered from the black hole of mesquite and have touches on 2/14/08, suspect they are on the cusp of getting good news. Incidentally, your children are too cute for words, congratulations and stay warm, freezing here in OKC with freezing rain turning to sleet, consider that as you wander around in shorts and t-shirt!

My status hasn't been updated since Feb 04 - and after reading that a lot of you have received sth on 14th I started to freak out. 'Glad' to hear though there are some others that have not heard anything since the "Transferred" notice

I FEEL FOOLISH HAVING PLACED SOME ACTUAL FAITH IN THE USCIS AFTER WE RECEIVED OUR TRANSFER NOTICE. For some reason, I truly believed we all would be approved or at least updated within weeks. Here we are three weks later without a single approval or even RFE or further touches. Could we really be back in line at VSC for another 6 months?

We have not been touched either since the initial 2/4/08 transfer notice. Nothing that the USCIS does surprises me. It seems to be a chaotic organization without any leadership. There are bright spots however. The San Antonio office is a model of efficiency and handles AOS and naturalization petitions within about 6 months of filing.

I see that everyone lost its faith.... including me… I believed that Vermont was going to be faster... but everyone else is so negative about it. Need same updates, why everyone believes that this is not happening?

Maybe there were two pickup trucks from TSC, and the one carrying your petition broke down somewhere in Kentucky.

I had mine transfered to VST from texas on january 31 ,now today they changed status to pending ,is that mean that i am on the waiting list again!!! its been almost 1 year

Could be that he just checked the online status for today for the first time in over a week. No email was sent for the 2/14 touch, which says of one's current status that the "case is now pending at the office to which it was transferred."

I still don't have that message on my case status.

I did receive an email on 2/14. It could be that some people's status is just now being updated from "transferred to VSC" to "pending at service center to which it was sent" whereas other's (yours truly) have been updated last week. If this is the case, instead of approving the transferrees one by one, they may just want to approve everyone at the same time (which kind of sucks because being a March filer I don't want to be approved with an April filer on the same day - I want at least a one day lead :-).
