I'm starting a new thread for this as otherwise the information just gets missed in the timeline to interview thread:

Hi there,
I need to know if we need to send in two passport size photos of beneficiery with DS_230? I called NVC today to see why our case was not complete and the operator said that the beneficiery needs to send in two passport size photos to NVC it is a new requirement she said.

please someone clarify
thanking you all in advance
parinita

Hi Pari,

Yes, there has been some discussion here about that recently. Apparently this is a new - unpublished - requirement from the NVC:

INCLUDE two passport photos of beneficiary for DS230 even if checklist doesn't mention it! NVC has added this new requirement!

rfe DS230

I assume they are sending you an RFE for the 2 photos?

hey Trailmix, thank you so much for ur response.
Although they will send RFE, I spoke to an operator again and asked if I needed to wait for a letter in order to send two photos in..and she said that u don't need to wait for it u can just send it in...my question is should i send it in or wait for the letter?

also which address to send it in?
thanks again
parinita

I'm so confused. We got a RFE because my husband messed up question #20 but it did not say anything about sending in photos. I don't know if I should include this with the new DS-230 or not since the checklist letter did not tell me they needed photos.

When I spoke to the operator to find out what the problem was (before I received the checklist in the mail) she told me the only problem was missing or incomplete info on one of the questions and she said nothing about needing to send in photos.

UGH... I just want this to be over with sad.gif

It seems to be a hit and miss thing. Some people seem to be getting an RFE for them, some not. It is either a consulate specific thing or there was some cut-off date after which they will request them.

So at this point it is up to you whether you send them the unsolicited photos - personally I would smile.gif.

Pari - you can send the information before you receive your checklist. I did just that with my Husband's permanent residency card and you can see from my timeline below it didn't work very well - however - it might work for you!

The 'checklist' address is the same as their regular address, it's only the 'Attention Of' that changes, need to put Attn: DR on it. Plus, unless you use James's shortcuts and generate your own barcode sheet, you will be sending it in without one and that might hold things up (when I sent in the additional info I did send it in with a barcoded cover sheet btw).

I'm posting pictures below of what they send you with a checklist. First they send a letter and state they want you to send a copy of the letter back when you reply. Secondly you get a barcoded coversheet which you are also supposed to enclose with your reply mail. (and of course they also send you a printed checklist of items missing or incomplete - plus a return of any forms you have submitted that they need you to correct).
