My name is Em, I'm 20 and I'm currently living in South Australia. I am an ex-exchange student, I lived in Indiana for little over 12 months in 2002-2003.

I fell in love with the United States, it was one of the happiest times in my life. I'd really like to go back, with a work visa but I'm not sure how to get started in the process, and the costs involved.

My friends mother used this forum for advice when she married an American a few years ago and she passed on much of her knowledge of visas to me. From what she told me... Fiancee visas are a very big expensive process! So, congratulations to you all who have been through it and survived! I admire you a lot! good.gif

I am totally in love with a guy from New York, we've known each other since I was about 10 or 11. He has been a best friend for me for many years now, growing up. He came to visit me for my birthday last June, and really lifted my spirits about coming back to the States. I'd love to be with him someday, apply for a fiancee visa... Buuut, I have a bit of debt and I'd like to work and clear that up before we look at a fiancee visa and moving the the states permanently.

So, any advice or knowledge for a work visa (preferably an Aussie who's been through it!) would be greatly appreciated!

Haha, look forward to getting to know you all,

EM - try posting in the Australian regional forums. There's a great group there who are VERY helpful and informative. They can certainly answer your questions about debt and work visas etc etc. If this helps at all, CCUSA is a company that allows you to come over and work at a summer camp. After the season is over I think you get three months until your visa expires. It's how I met my husband, but would be a relatively easier way to get a work visa.

Mosey on over to the regional forums...but welcome and good luck.
