hi all,

I am in a bit of a panic. my appointment date is at the end of Feb and i have only just recieved a letter that my police certificate is been processed and i'm not sure if it means it will take 40 days from now, in which case it would be late, or if when i sent it, in which case it's fine. I was wondering if there would be any problems in me changing my appointment date to later to be safe? is this a valid reason? I did not recieve my fiancee packet and sent all the forms online and didn't realise that this means i told them i have this in posession already. Could they cancel my appointment for this reason? will they be mad that i am still waiting for my police certifiate? to top it off i did not recieve form iv18a and am waiting on an email from them to send it so i can arrange a med exam. will they be able to book an appointment in time? when do they usually schedule medicals for?

basically i want to change my appointment to march but i am worried they might accuse me of lying or something because i dont have my police certificate yet

any advise or experience? iit's at the london embassy

well if you reschedule your interview date your looking at a min. of 2 month to get new one could be longer. so if you can go to it and just get put in ap. and wait till pc gets there it would be shorter then trying to reschedule. just my thought on it

Don't panic!
Oh, but how we all panic when it comes this visa nonsense.

I also believe the police cert. is just 40 days from when you apply for it. Ours took 38 days, I marked it on our calendar! When did you request yours? Personally, I'd give it at least a couple of week and see if it arrives before I contacted the embassy.

When we called to book the medical they had appointments available for the following week...but she mentioned they were usually booked a couple of weeks out....if you have your "LND" file number you can book the appointment.
The phone number is 020 7584 9458, they are really nice so I'd feel perfectly comfortable calling them if I had any questions.

I think I sent for it around the 10th of Jan . But like I say I just got the letter and my bank has only just been debited the £10. Has anyone ever had it been 40 days from this letter? if it's from when they get it I should get it just in time around the 20th Feb.

If not did you say your advice is go to the appointment anyway? what do you mean when you say "put in ap" can i go without it and send it later?

has anyone done this?

i can't bare the thought of my whole application been cancelled for this and have to start again.

If your medical is not done or you do not have your police report (or both), if you meet the other criteria when you interview your visa will be approved pending the results of the missing information.

There are numerous posts in this community of applicants attending their interview in London without the police report or medical. The consulate will not become angry with you for not having everything in hand on interview dayt, but they cannot approve a visa without these items.

Whether you go to the interview without this info or postpose the interview till later, either way you are looking at a delay. It's up to you which way you choose to go. But going to the interview without these items will not adversely affect your case. It will just delay an approval of it.

We requested my SO's police report (back in November 2007) in person at the local police station and we paid cash.

We never got a letter informing us that the application was being processed...so maybe this is a new thing that they are doing or maybe it was the method you used to order the report, or the payment method that generated the letter?

In any case, I'll bet you get it before your interview....but if you don't....you got a really good reply to your post, REBECCAJO knows her stuff, and it sounds like you'll be fine if you keep your interview!

Good luck!

so If I went without the police certificate they can approve it but would I have to attend the embassy again? or could i mail them the police certificate and then they mail me the visa?
