Looking to see what other VJ members are paying and advice for phone ( land line) / internet / tv. We have had the charter bundle for months now and it has slowly creeped up in price for the last few months. We just got a bill for $ 190.00 and now are looking to switch to Bell South package with Direct TV Satalite included . It appears it will come out to around $ 120.00 a month which includes taxes however will have to use Skype for calls to Canada to keep the package price down. Our cell phones are through Verison and separate. Charter got rid of the 3 meg high speed internet and raised it to 5 meg increasing the price and stating they no longer offer the 3 meg. I swear it seems all these intro offers are just a scam and before you know it the prices increase. We were considering Vonage as an option so that we could call Canada but not sure....just looking for advice and others experiences with these bundles and pricing..... helpsmilie.gif

Thanks

We have Comcast 119/ month for phone (with unlimited LD to Canada and US), cable and high speed internet. Service is pretty ok, and the customer rep's are fantastic. We will change the moment this promotion ends though.... always in the lookout for a deal!!

We have Comcast too same deal. We originally signed on for thier 6 month promotion deal but a month before it was up called and explained we could get Quest at $100 a month for the same services.
Asked if we could get in on the newer Comcast promotion or we'd be switching to Quest. I guess they looked at it as why lose a customer because we're in for another 6 months at the promotion rate.
Give em a call just before your promo time is up. They don't want people leaving them.

We have Cox as well for Cable/ internet - $135/month but we also have the highest speed available due to our use of the internet, and working from home. We are heavy gamers and have teenagers who also play online games. We have the Sports package on the cable.

Vonage for phone - unlimited long distance, plus a virtual local number for the Canadian friends ($5/month extra)...total there is $40

Verizon Cells - we pay for a family package of 5 - unlimited texting since we found the teenagers practically bled us dry on a per text basis smile.gif $200/month

Be nice to bundle things together,,,Verizon Fios is coming our way, but they don't combine the cell phones with home intenet/ cable. We like Vonage too much to give it up for anything unless a much better package

Oh wait our phone isn't a land line through Cox its digital. We could add calling Canada unlimited for another $10 a month, but cant bother!! I just call my family, let it ring a few times and hang up,and they cal me,lol they have unlimited long dist.
AnewKINDofFEELIN
I had Cox bundled for a while, but the only place they off an unlimited to Canada plan is in California, so I couldn't get it. Instead, I switched to AT&T for my phoneline. I think I pay around $60 a month with unlimited calling to canada.
David_n_Amber
how much cheaper are these companies if you dont want a land line? my fiance and i are thinking of not even getting a land line with the new inventions of cell phones smile.gif
flames9
I think for cox,it wasn't much of a savings, around $15 per month
Udella&Wiz
The land line isn't the money getter for them anymore...it's all those extra packages for channals and high speed.

This month's Consumer Reports had an article on bundling Internet/phone/cable services. I didn't read the whole thing, but it looked worthwhile.

yeah we have that option with Time Warner but Vonage is still cheaper then if we were to get internet phone with TW plus the options etc are better with Vonage....

We were using Cox bundle , with land line , but figured at .05 per minute to Canada ( which is the only out of country calls ) that it was cheaper to get rid of the land line , and use tmobile at .09 per minute to Canada, and unlimited US long distance for my wifes family. We actually save close $30.00 a month now since we dropped the land line. Plus Tmobile offers so many packages here , IE.. 5 favs .
I also try call family back in T.O. let it ring once or twice , then hang up. They call back , and I get no long distance charges.

Before switching from Charter you might want to call them to say you are thinking of changing because the cost is just too high. I did that 6 months ago and they added the cable phone and some premium channels (also have the cable internet) and took $50 off my bill. They don't want to lose you and you might end up with a decent deal and not have to deal with the hassle of changing companies. Worth a shot.

Our Cable is a little more also because we have High Definition DVR service and an extra decoder box. smile.gif I did check with Verizon on the cost of FiOS and they have a bundle at $99 that includes all 3.
