There is a possibility you are deemed you abandon the permanent residence. I do not know the exact info but there is a risk. Some people wait until naturalization to move overseas

I doubt I would ever even consider that.

There are continuous residence in the US standards that must be met to continue renewing green cards.

Well if you are outside of the US for more than 1 year on a GC, you cannot enter without a reentry permit, and after 2 years, you will loose PR status.

But you may loose it sooner if your permanent residence has moved outside the US.

If both countries involved allow for dual citizenship (US does, but not all other countries do), than you are better off waiting to get that before moving back and forth.
