Hi,
here's the situation. I'm the wannabe beneficiary of a K1 visa (I'm italian, 25 y/o, master's degree holder, employed). My fiancée is 21, about to graduate but with no full-time job yet. We plan start filing in May, but she won't get a full-time job probably until september.
What could we do to prove she has the money she needs?
Can her grandma co-sponsor me? Can his father (us citizen who lives in Japan now)?
Please help us out with this!

thanks,

Roberto

Hi Rob!

The US citizen is always the primary sponsor; if she doesn't meet the income requirement, then you can have a co-sponsor who does. Your fiance will be asked to submit the I-134 and her tax return for the previous year; if her income doesn't meet 125% of the poverty guidelines, then you will need a co-sponsor.

The co-sponsor must be resident in the US, so her father wouldn't be eligible; however her grandmother might be able to - provided she has the right income level and all!

hi there again---
thanks for the reply! just another thing... What if I put the necessary amount into her bank account? Her grandmother is retired and has all the assets and money to support her, so it shouldn't be a problem...
Can I use my assets (money into my bank account) too?
