Madame Cleo
Personally I am getting a little tired of thread locking for no other reason than some whim of moderators. Am I the only one here that thinks this way?

'Chill'? Why do you percieve this as anger? Mild frustration that moderation is perceived to be necessary and the rather arbitrary rules that seem to be applied yes but I'm not riled up.

So a game thread gets locked for the simple reason that it's old. Is that a mod policy, you can't resurrect an old thread even if it's theme has no time limit?
Gwen666
Well, to be fair, bumping old threads can detract from new, more urgent and possibly more relevant threads by pushing them down the page - not to mention that some of them contain outdated information.

Like PH said...it was an old games thread that was locked....nothing to get outdated and to be honest in OT, maybe "some" more current pages needed to get bumped down. LOL

W33 is a noob at moderating. He will learn.

Maybe it WAS better back in the day when mods used pseudonyms to do their business, keeping them anonymous.

I think that it's rediculous all the " Play nice""Less twaddle talk" and the such on threads that are merely two or more people expressing an opinion with no blatant TOS violation. Are members just more " touchy" and thin skinned now and quick to report over anything, or are the mods just so anxious to flex muscle on as many threads as possible?

Mods usually step in when someone reports the thread/post.

I agree, they dont go lurking around threads all day, im sure they do other things as well, but as soon as they see a reported post, they are immediatly there

When I was a noob, there was a list of id's that were 'moderators' but they never posted. Just moderated. I assume they posted under other id's but being a noob no one told me who they really were.

So--IMO--Going off the # of admonishments left and right for nothing, mostly-it would appear that some members have become "report happy", because some of the threads reported and commented on by mods have been just silly, and in no way a TOS violation....What also irritates me is when people say "stop the personal attack"...when all the person has done is post their opinion.
I think mods need to back up slightly and some members need a thicker skin.

Well, whenever a thread was closed, it was always done by these usernames that didn't participate in threads....except to say something like "knock it off or it will be closed". These were regular users....there wasn't just a moderating team that hung out for the hell of it. There was an uproar about it ages ago when some people thought the mods were taking advantage of their "power" by getting involved in "popcorn" threads and then shutting them down.

This would have been ideal for this board but at this point, it's sort of like closing the barn door after the horse has bolted.

I would like to see the mods have more power. Preferably with firearms. Failing that, pointy sticks.
Captain Ewok
We are always learning and make mistakes. One thing I can promise is that if we do make a mistake and you point it out then we will fix it. The long game threads are often closed once a new one is opened. As threads get super big they can cause server slow downs tongue.gif.
