I found out the other day that my visa interview date hadn't been given to me because I had not sent this DS-2001 form to my embassy I was told I would of had my interview allot earlier if they had received this form

The thing is I looked through the whole of my packet 3 and it did not say anything about this but it did keep referring to a checklist and I made the assumption that the check list was the checklist that they supplied me in packet 3 I was wrong they want you to send in FORM DS-2001

Also no one ever mentioned this to me over the many phone calls to the embassy they make you wait until your case is over 60 days old until they are willing to give you this information.

please don't make the same mistake I did and extend your wait for a visa interview by a long long time..

Well it wasn't in my packet but maybe it was just a mistake on my part or even the embassy may of forgoten to put it in my packet. any how it needs to be sent to let them know you are ready for your interview.

I haven't got my interview date but the embassy told me i would get it within 2 weeks I'm excited I can't wait to get back to my SO

That's a ridiculous rule. I don't recall anything about such a form but I will check with my fiance and get back to u.

Where do you find DS2001?

I don't know if you will need it because i don't know what your embassy requirements are.
My embassy is London and this is a requirement for the United kingdom

usually package 3 contains a form that asks you when you are intending to leave to the US. Usually they they try to get you an interview date that you can leave the date you intented to....of course only if they got interview apointments available.

That is true as in packet 3 i was asked for a date that i was going to travel to the U.S and i told them the date in Dec and that didnt do anything its now almost feb but if i had of sent DS-2001 i may of got back to the U.S for Dec

Its a sorry state of affairs when one small form is left out

Did you send back the pages of the packet they requested? Pages 1-4? Because it appears to me that that is DS-2001 in another format. I just got my packet 3 today and there is no mention of DS-2001, but the checklist they ask you to send back is exactly the same.

yeah i sent back all of the pages that the embassy asked for inluding the section that looks like a differently formated DS-2001

If i were you i would send in DS-2001 in addition to the rest of the packet 3 your better safe then sorry

I wish now I had for peace of mind - why would they require something they don't even list you need? Makes no sense.
