My choice is not present, "Yes, but I could not care less." When I drive, I have purpose, it is to get to my destination quickly. I have no interest in putting along. I ignore honking drivers. If they saluted me, I would not have noticed.

Good answer. If I could edit this post, I would add that option. That may be a more popular answer.

I don't hesitate to honk when some schmuck is on his cell phone, driving slow in the passing lane. He's not driving slow to be safe, he's just not paying attention.
I love when drivers will mysterious apply their brakes without reason or provocation (usually happens when they're deep in cell phone conversation...using wearing a goofy, vacant smile as I pass them).
I also love drivers who will change lanes without signaling, especially the ones who do it quickly (they're my favorite).
Conscientious drivers are a rare commodity these days. It seems more drivers are too self absorbed to even be aware they are sharing the road with anyone else.

This is where I receive my honks and maybe gestures. I use the passing lane to PASS! People seem to think it is okay to putt along in the fast lane. Get over! Why do I have to pass you in the wrong lane? Geez! It is not hard to get over for faster moving traffic.

I didn't think the average American understood the concept of a 'passing lane'. All lanes are fair game and you stick in the one you are in, regardless...or at least that's what it looks like to the casual observer.
I hate tailgaters personally, if they honk, I go slower, unless they have a shotgun.

Yep. Last week when a semi wanted to run me over because he apparently thought that a safe driving distance between two vehicles in pointless stop and go, slam on brakes traffic was a ridiculous fairy tale written in BMV handbooks.
I am drawing a blank on other times. I just don't get honked at that much or honk at other people.

My best car story is when some guy flipped out at me, so I flipped him the bird while he was on the off ramp. THen he proceeded to drive off the off ramp, down a ditch, then back onto the highway to chase me at speeds at 110mph.

Does "Driving Cautiously; Lawfully" mean driving slow in the left (fast, passing) lane?

I notice drivers talking on cell phones driving 85 miles per hour they tailgate in the slow lanes and fast lanes. What in the foc is there hurry. I learned to ignore the tailgaters just slow down lol.

From my driver's ed class back in high school, my instructer would say, "Charles, if someone is tailgating you, and they have no lane to pass you, you are to pull over and give way."

Those are several of my pet driving peeves too. But what's worse than a driver who doesn't use his turn signal is one who thinks that they automatically get the right of way as soon as they turn it on. I've seen it happen so often on the interstates where a driver turns on his/her signal and just moves into the lane without even looking to see if someone is already on it.
Also, don't forget to add people who are doing other unsafe things while driving like putting make-up on, writing a report, working on a crossword puzzle!! I can't believe how many strange things other people think of doing while they are (supposedly) driving.
I've been honked at once, when I was waiting to turn right (out of a school driveway, mind you). I was waiting for the right and safe time to turn but the parent behind me could not wait. I could not care less of course. My and other drivers' safety are more important to me than some impatient driver.

Yep - that quick-flash-signal-zip-into-lane. I've seen some large trucks do that and it's really frightening.
We were on the freeway a few weeks ago and watched as this woman was changing lanes erradically while she kept leaning over like she was searching for something. There were several moments where her head completely disappeared from behind the dashboard!

Driving here in CT you get flipped the bird all the time if you "obey the laws".. we've been passed at a stop light from behind and given the finger because there was a "no right turn on red" sign staring right at us..
Aggression is the name of the game here in CT!

I only use my finger sparingly - I prefer "the look" as well. But I often with a certain kind of driver few things can be more satisfying than the finger (my little pinky, that is........)

I don't honk unless someone's about to hit me and then only to alert them of my presence. I also prefer the look... When someone honks at me, and I haven't done anything wrong (like when the light JUST turned green and I didn't burn the tires up screeching out of there!), I go as slow as possible to further irritate the honker and amuse myself
If honking annoys you, I suggest you never visit Egypt and drive or ride in a car there. When I was there I would get so irritated on behalf of the taxi driver and then at him because everyone in Egypt honks freely... at ANYTHING

Of course I also witnessed, on more than one occasion, another driver putting his hand out the window and onto the hood of the car beside him in order to stop him so he can get over in traffic

I copied this from my road rage thread a year ago:
Idrive 1.25 hours to work and home throughout the week. I see alot of drivers.. not like this one today
lemme see if I can set this up :
I was in the left lane of a 4 lane road (2 lanes each side) which is typically where the thru traffic stays (as they are not exiting the roadway). I see this dark blue SUV merging with the traffic on the RIGHT from the right (like a street is dumping traffic onto the main rd). he is going pretty fast then all of a sudden he jerks the wheel heading to land in front of me. I guess objects ARE actually farther away than they seem because even though he is all clear to cut me off (plenty of room) he JERKS the wheel back right. Rolls down the window and starts shouting at me! I give him the obilgatory finger and mouth the easily readable statement that usually follows.

and then he throws a BIG GULP at me!
Im pretty stunned at this point, but then the guy decides he is all done with regular roads and drives up an embankment that is newly mulched and had new shrubs planted. He must have been in some kind of twighlight zone...
I still cant believe I got hit with a big gulp!

adding... the side of my car was red - good thing my windows were up!!
