Tonight we are having salad and broiled chicken breast.

Last night we went out for burgers. I had a really long day with a crisis client at the end and decided I COULD NOT EAT ANY MORE BAKED ZITI (we have been eating that ALL week). Hubby took the rest for lunch today smile.gif
Kathryn41
hard day at work today so I just made vegetable cheese omelettes with toast and sliced tomatoes for dinner:-).

I love Marie Callendars alfredo TV dinners. And most times I'm in LA, I try and go to the restruant on Wilshire Blvd. Though haven't done that the last bunch of times. The chicken alfredo is my favorite I think. Oh pizza tonight for us since it's Friday and I go on cooking strike for the weekend as I do every weekend (and resume back on Monday)...

that is kind of like me... I don't usually cook or want to cook on the weekends...

before I moved here my hubby and I kind of made a deal that I would cook on the weekdays and he would be responsible for the weekends.. of course he seems to have forgotten that deal was ever made tongue.gif

add sausage too, but I have not been able to find any sausage that does not have nitrates in it (silly pregnancy rules to avoid nitrates smile.gif ) so no sausage this time.

Not sure if this is in your area, Autumn, but maybe you can do a search.... Applegate Farms does a nitrate free bacon and sausage and I hear they are available in Super Walmart. (Will check the one down here and see.) I buy the Oscar Mayer nitrate/nitrite free bacon in Publix, and I hear it's also available in Safeway. We really like it. good.gif (I know that doesn't help with your sausage search right now. lol. But I'm heading over to Publix and Walmart this afternoon so I'll check for a nitrate free sausage.)

Oooh thanks, I will have to check that out. I will also see if I can get nitrate free bacon too. I have not seen it yet in the one grocery store in my town (ugh for monopolies), but I may be able to ask them to order it.

We are going out tonight for Italian food, not sure what I will have, but something yummy I'm sure!
Kathryn41
We are just leaving to pick up a friend of ours who is coming in from Nebraska (needed a mid-winter break - lives on a cattle ranch there in the middle of nowhere) so we will be heading out for dinner afterwards at a little family cafe in the area. They have a great variety of 'American', Mexican and 'Greek' food on the menu and it is always good! Tomorrow we are going out for dinner too, to one of my favourite restaurants in Atlanta - Cedars of Lebanon - wonderful Lebanese food! Yum!
KarenCee
Mmmmm....lebanese food sounds good. There's a restaurant Joel and I want to try in Atlanta...one of those Brazilian steak houses. Fire of Brazil I think is the name. Methinks it's one of those places that you shouldn't eat for a couple days before you go. wink.gif

Tonight...not sure yet. Lots of leftovers, may just do that tonight.

You can get cheez whiz, it's just different smile.gif (better put some cheez whiz on the beef stew).

Tonight we are having ze chicken nuggets of ze day and ze left over potatoes from last night - sauted in olive oil.

Just went down to the basement again to finish up - thank heavens. Just have to wash the back stairs etc and clean up after we get a couple of things hauled away.

Hubby and I shared steamed mussels, then I had veal piccata, he had broiled salmon and we shared maple pecan pie with vanilla ice cream .... MMMMMMMMM. I brought home half of my meal so I get to eat it tomorrow for lunch. YAY!!!
KarenCee
mmmmmmm....pecan pie. We had steak and mashed taters with sour cream and cheese melted on top...it was in the fridge and would have ruined if not cooked tonight. Rounded that off with strawberry shortcake.

Pecan pie sounds better though. smile.gif
TheATeam
Mmm...those all sound so good. I had salmon with acorn squash. I was just too tired to make any veggies. I don't normally eat dessert but Karen that strawberry shortcake sounds amazing right now!

We have one of those Brazilian steakhouse places here in Tulsa, and it is fabulous fabulous fabulous! And yes, when we know we are going there for a treat (this place ain't cheap!), I basically don't eat all day. But it is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo good!

tonight my hubby invented a low-fat sandwich wrap for me, and it was actually very tasty!
Carlawarla
We were out shopping yesterday and I saw a steakhouse advertised as a Brazilian steakhouse as well, although I don't think it was the same name. They're good eh? What do they do different when cooking steaks? Might be something to check out.

I think I mentioned I went out to lunch last week with a neighbour and we had Gyros. They were the BEST Gyros I'd ever tasted. It was at a little hole in the wall type of deli. Excellent food!

I bought a lemon-garlic turkey breast tenderloin last night that was very very good. I love to grill tenderloins, but it wasn't nice outside and I baked it in the overn. We had twice cooked mashed potatoes with onions, cheese and chives, and a zucchini carrot veggie casserole I made up. It was excellent! I love experimenting with new things and making up my own recipes. I feel like a kid when I get to make things up...certainly they're better though than when I'd make up recipes as a kid! wacko.gif

Tonight is leftovers from last night.

Oh yes, I bought a Foreman Grill on Friday as well. Hoping to try it out this week. One of those Lean Mean Machines! smile.gif

Seriously. laughing.gif Here's a link to the grocery items unavailable in the US thread.
Krikit
Last night we had Christine Cushing's French Onion Soup and a fancy shmancy salad. The grocery store had local strawberries on sale 2for1 so we had strawberry shortcake (with a dash of Grand Marnier) for dessert. Tonight I'm not sure, but I'm contemplating T.O_2_Fl's Curried Tilapia with Mango Salsa. But that all depends on how motivated I am to drive to the store later.

If it is like the one we go to......

You sit at the table and the waiter comes around with a various selection of meats (one at a time) that have been skewered on a long sword and roasted over flame.** They plunk down the sword, tell you what the meat is, and you say "yep I want some of that" or "nope" They then slice off a piece for you and you put it on your plate. You sit there thinking "hmm, this doesn't seem to be a lot of food", but they just seem to keep coming and coming with various cuts/preparations of beef, chicken, pork, lamb, shrimp, sausages, and our favourite, grilled pineapple, until you tell them enough. Mixed with the all you can eat buffet / salad bar (which is amazing at our restaurant) and you basically roll right out of there. It's a bit pricey, but oh so delicious! I don't know what they do in the grilling process, but oh my word, it is so good.

**This is based on how Brazilian/Argentinian cowboys (gauchos) prepare their meals while out on the range, or something like that!

mmmm, Brazilian steakhouse... yup, if you leave one of these places hungry, it's your own dang fault!!! They are pricey precisely because you can get all the meat you desire. For carnivores like myself, ooooh, what a feast. A tip I'd suggest is if you can get to one of these places for lunch (not on a weekend usually), you can get the same food for a cheaper price just because it's lunchtime.

we have been eating out a lot these last couple of weeks and that needs to stop tongue.gif

tonight I think I am making Chicken Mac and cheese.. I haven't checked if I have all the ingredients yet though....
*Marilyn*
Chicken Mac

1 tbsp oil
4 boneless, skinless chicken thighs (@ 1 lb) *
1 pkg (14 ounce) Kraft Deluxe mac & Cheese dinner (I just use regular mac and cheese)
1 can (14-1/2 ounce) diced tomatoes, undrained
2 green onions, sliced (I just fry up some onions when I fry up the chicken)
1/2 cup chopped fresh parsley (I just use some dried parsley)

Heat oil in medium skillet on medium-high heat. Add chicken. Cook about 7 minutes on each side until cooked through.

Meanwhile, prepare Mac& Cheese as directed on the package, substituting large skillet for saucepan...

Add tomatoes, onions and parsley to prepared dinner; mix lightly. Top with chicken.

*what I do is use about 2 chicken thighs but chop them up and then fry them and then mix it into the mac and cheese with everything else....

well, we have sure splurged today! We have company and were meeting up with friends in Atlanta for dinner after having lunch on our own. We had planned to go to Cedars of Lebanon for lunch - but when we got there the building was vacant and a neighbour said that they had moved to a larger place - they just didn't know where! So, we ended up going to a lovely Suishi Restaurant across the way. Oh yum! Yum! It was absolutely wonderful - excellent food - I had alarge roll with crab, shrimp, avocado, some green crunchy things, rice, wrapped in -well, I am not even sure what it was wrapped in but it was wonderful - and served with a spicy sauce. The role was cut into 10 pieces so there was a lot. For those who are interested the restaurant was named Kiku and it was just off of Lennox Rd.

For dinner we went to a lovely Thai and Chinese restaurant named Hunan off of Roswell Rd and Hammond Rd in Sandy Springs. We ordered Szechuan beef, Mango chicken, breaded scallops with pickled cabbage and garlic beans. (The 5 of us shared and there was plenty for all). Again, absolutely incredible food, very well prepared and extremely tasty. It will be so ordinary to go back to meals at home tomorrow. Oh, wait - we still have leftovers from last night's dinner out - ok, I know what I'm having for lunch now! hehehe.

Thanks Cassie. That not only sounds like fun, but delicious! It is true that most places offer the same lunch menu that's less expensive. I've dined some times where we've stopped early for a meal, and we're right on the cusp of turnover between lunch and dinner, and seen the lunch menu which except for a few things is the same...for less money of course! I think the portions are usually smaller. That better be the reason!

Sounds like you've had a few lovely meals as well Kathyrn! I'm not a sushi fan, but always love it when people describe an experience they love even if I'm not of the same mind. smile.gif

I think I'm going ot make spinach ricotta in jumbo shells with marinara sauces. Mmmmmmmmmm Some crusty buns, and salad will round this out.

Wow. Good luck on the job interviews, Marilyn!!!

Last night we had orange-glazed salmon with peppers and rice. I also made a corn, black bean, and tomato salsa. Tonight we are having the leftover french onion soup and salad. My husband hates leftovers so I normally never make him eat them. But I have put my food down and now he is happy to eat leftovers. It might have been the flood.

Just a note to the seasonal fruit and veggie lovers..... the seedless watermelon I bought the other day was fantastic. So sweet and juicy. Going to get another one today. good.gif

but I do plan on coming home and making Beef Stroganoff so that my husband will have some for his lunch in the morning...will also make a salad, and strawberry/blueberry shortcakes...

we just used the last of our spaghetti sauce and chili from the freezer, so Im gonna be making a batch of both to restock the freezer on this long weekend...this will be my last batch before we move in 4 weeks!... woo hoo!

That always won out for me too when I was a kid. Though as an adult I rarely ever eat there, and we have one down the road, but as a kid, it definatly was above seafood and steak...

it always won with me too!...we rarely eat fast food, unless its somewhere like Subway...I do like that McDonalds does offer other choices now for kids with their Happy Meals, besides soda and fries..

Well, I thought I would be ordering room service at a hotel in Chicago, but due to weather, my flight has canceled. I'm not even going to bother attempting another flight tonight... I'm booked on a 6am departure in the morning.

So, I guess I'm having pizza ;-)

Husband had to go in to the old office today, plus the book store (I got 4 new books - which includes a trilogy yahooo!) and staples (got an automatic coin sorter, oh btw when you move you have to get the can of coins packaged haha) and on the way home he picked up Edo for me - which was great!

Soo a little later on I think we will have a grilled cheese.

Just sorted through a whole tote of photo albums, ditched the albums and basically got it down to 1 album and one very small bag of photos! (this is in addition to my other tote of photos tongue_ss.gif )
