I have lived in Northampton, England most of my life but recently moved to Edinburgh to be with mygirlfriend (now wife) good.gif heart.gif who is from the US.

We are working on our DCF and I have just applied to have the police check made in our local police station in Edinburgh.

My question is... Will this check my history for Northampton as well as Edinburgh (I assume it is a national database they read from?)

If not, then I guess I will have to apply for the same check from Northampton Police???

Thanks for any advice you can give...

I think different constabularies have different forms, but on the one for Hampshire it asked me to list everywhere I'd lived, presumably so that they could check to see if you'd had any dealings with the police in previous areas you'd lived in.

Don't just take my word for it though, as like I said, I think different areas have different forms. You could always check with your local station when you go to pick up your forms.

The police check form asks you to list all your previous addresses so I ASSUME its a national check. I had about 6 addresses in total in the UK ranging from when I was born until I left for the US, and these were not all in the same towns or counties. I submitted my completed form to a police station that wasn't in the town where I lived (near my parents house), and they gave me a receipt. The usual wait is about 6 weeks I believe but I received mine in less than 4 weeks. I would leave as much time as possible however as I am sure there are people who have waited longer than 6 weeks !

good luck
