Last week we got the interview and got Approved!! All went smooth and all there were more than accomodating and patient with my english! ( i was very very nervous because of that) The basic rituals at the entry and at the interview as well, the basic questions. Got back my originals. (marriage and birth certif). The consular even stated i was too honest and shouldn't do so much. (if he knew lol).

Before more questions, we, my hubby and I want to THANK FROM THE BOTTOM OF OUR HEART the old crew (because we were an antiquity on here by now) and new crew that helped us, the nasty and the nice ones, we learned a lot from every post and situations in order to be better prepared, especially, i believe all is mostly a psychological test; we are certainly not the same individuals...and i hope we are better ones now.

My question for now is: our 2nd year of marriage aniversary is in the near futur; i don't understand when we have to apply for the Permanent card. does it have to do with the 2nd year of marriage or 2nd year of Temp. Card that i believe if i understood well i'll get now.
Again, thank you so much, and in particular to Capt Ewok who conceived this little jewel of site but not of less help and gave us all the liberty to express ourselves even in the darkest moments rose.gif

When is ur second marriage anniversary?? If its close itmay be worthwhile to wait and activate the visa then.! By doing so u would have a 10 yr greencard and not have to mess around with filling out the I-751 in 2 yrs!

If you dont go that route

The 2 yrs starts on the day you activate the visa--Nothing to do with ur marriage anniversary!

ie. You enter the usa and activate the CR-1 Feb 01 2008, the cr-1 would expire Feb 01 2010!!! 90 days prior to feb 01 2008 you would file the I-751, which in the end gives you the 10 yr greencard!! As well the expirary date wil lbe posted on your actual Greencard.

Of course the i-751 costs $$$$, so you stated ur close to ur 2nd wedding anniversary, thus should get a ir-1 if you wait and cross after ur 2nd anniversary date, thus a 10 yr greencard, and thus not havin gto file the I-751, thus savin g you $$$$$, but spending a bit more time apart until the 2nd anniversary!! confused?? Im sure someone wil simplify it, I need more coffee!! lol

Sweetie, congrats!!!
If you don't move until past your 2nd wedding anniversary, your green card will be a 10 year one and you won't have to Remove Conditions (hence save $$$$).

Sure, in our case, cr-1, at the interview we already completed at NVC all the original documents they needed. So at the interview I only brought (in case of) the copies of everything from the beggining. At the interview the consul gave back my original BC and Marriage certificate. I had to produce only photos and expresspost enveloppe (prepaid and preadressed to me).
The questions in my case were basics: When we met; where i'm going to live; what's hubby's job; what's mine and what work I'm going to do in the US. Then he had to clarify something about the medical (the dr, was too nice and omitted something i told him but didn't write and that I wrote on my ds-230, so that it was confusing to him, but thanked me for being honest, even if i should not have written it either). Then he approved the visa right away.
Oh! and i forgott to bring my CV, althouth he didn't ask it. I see some people who have an IT related profession can be asked for it. I'm not into this field but still have an unusual profession. Hope it helps!
