No baby news for us yet. It's still too early. I won't know anything for about 2 or 3 more weeks.

Ha, Ha, Elvia….. you’ll be our homeskillet madrina. No kiddles yet, but I’ll let ya know.

Only a few weeks until Javier’s big day! Hope you guys rock like it is 1999.

Stephanie: We haven't made any plans yet. Javier won't tell me what he wants to do. He wants to go to a bar with his friends and I ain't going for that. I told him we could go to a bar but he's not going without me. He doesn't like the idea of me going to a bar with him so we will probably just go out to eat. Nothing major. He wants a chain saw for his birthday so I have to scrounge the money together for that. I will have to tell him that is what I am getting him because I sure can't pick one out myself.

The only baby news from me is that my new nephew is sooooooooooooo cute. I just want to squeeze him and hold him and call him george. HAHA (That is from Looney Tunes if you don't recognize it).


Charity--- I would not let Alex do that with his friends either (if he had it to do over). Only because if he was with me I would know he would be safe. With his friends who knows what they would be doing. Keep him safe.

Benita: That's what I was thinking. Plus, how would he get home? I know they would all be drinking so there would not be a designated driver. It's just not going to happen. He can forget it. By the way, if you want, you can just call me about the trip instead of trying to type it all on here. What ever is easier for you is fine with me.

Madrina Elvia. I like the sound of that. I will be an awesome madrina and I am ready when you are! LOL

Charity... why don't you compromise and tell him he can go only IF he calls you from where he is at and has YOU pick him up? I have done that for Raul a couple of times! Just an option.

I guess I could do that. I really just don't like the thoughts of him going out without me. I don't really like his friends. One of them is married with two kids and stays out at the bar more than he does at home. He has made some snide comments about his wife and I don't like for Javier to be around that.

You're just going to have to wait. I can't make it happen any faster than the Lord intends it too.

Well you could make his b-day the day you two go out and then compromise on another day. Now I know the feeling on the not liking the friends, but maybe just for that day you can make an exception. He will think your a kick a$$ wife then.

Elvia….Yeah…George bugs me now. Funny he ended up at Burke’s house. Maybe he’ll hook up with that Kathy Torres doctor. The show is definitely missing some brown power…got to get a Latina in there!

Charity…good luck figuring out the b-day situation. It is hard being a wife. We know what is best for them but can’t say so cuz looks like we are telling them what to do. Last thing I want to be is a mom to a 25 yr old. I am not thrilled with all of Miguel’s friends, mostly because about half of them are single men that have no responsibilities nor anyone who cares about them, thus they pressure my man to stay out all night, etc. Peer pressure totally sucks. Elvia’s idea has worked for us in the past. But I totally think the actual night of his b-day he needs to be with you and whomever else you both invite out…but a boys night is also needed at times…just like us girls need to commiserate. Despite what anyone says though, you guys need to do what works best for YOU.

So re—the baby stuff….you know in about 2.5 weeks Elvia will be asking again (and we’ll all be waiting for your answer)

By the way, hi everyone! We're having a great time. Yesterday was Javier's b-day at the Hard Rock. I'll write more about that interesting experience later. Today is sight seeing and horse and buggy ride!! Hope everyone is well. Thanks! It keeps getting worse and worse. I am making a run to Walmart today at lunch to get me some medicine. We didn't have anything in the house this morning except some sinus headache medicine. I was afraid to take it. Medicines like that usually put me on my butt. I am the only one here at the window today so I have to be on my toes.

Don't you have a backup person that can do the window while you do their job? You might also pick up some theraflu or Campbells.... something to keep you warm

No there are only two of us to wait the window. Someone will take my place when I go to lunch but otherwise I am stuck here. The other girl went to buy her daughter a car today. I knew she wasn't going to be here or I would have called in sick. I didn't want to put everyone else in a bind. I have already told my mom I need to go to Walmart and get medicine. Javier fussed at me for not taking anything. I just hate the way it makes me feel. All dizzy and out of my body or something like that.

Okay well I have had a bunch to do here at work so I have been out all this time.... and to my surprise I guess all of you are busy bees as well because none of you have posted

I did go get me some medicine. I took it already and I can't tell it's done a thing. I am bored out of my mind and I feel terrible. I just wish this day would end. I can't believe it's not over yet. I am tempted to call my mom and tell her to come get me and take me home. I ride to work with her so I can't leave unless she does. She may not be too keen on the idea. She is pretty busy at work right now.

I have been SUPER busy. I had to go at lunch to get the Supplemental form to I-693 (Immunization verification from the Cival Surgeon approved for Louisville). This goes to the lawyer to send to USCIS for the AOS paperwork. One more thing out of the way.

Benita: Glad you are getting things done. Thanks for the information on driving to Mexico. After talking to you I think we have decided to just fly and maybe rent a car in Mexico City. I have no idea how we will get out of Mexico City but we will try.

So I talked to my mom and she has agreed to take me home. I will be leaving here around 3:30 or 4. She wasn't sure when she could get out of her office. At least now I can go home and be miserable in my own house instead of sitting here.

I don't know how much I will be around tomorrow. We are going to the SS office and the DMV. I think Javier might have something planned for after that. He asked me if I had any plans but wouldn't tell me why he wanted to know. He must be up to something.

Charity...hope you feel better and good luck at the SSA office and DMV. And GUESS WHAT? Remember those questions I had on behalf of my friend about the I-129? And how she was told by the USCIS phone line it wouldn't be approved because her I-130 was already approved....well she found out yesterday that her I-129 was approved! What a bunch of misinformed idiots they have answering the phone over at USCIS. But, sadly, it doesn't surprise me they give wrong information. Anyways, she only has to send 1 form back to the NVC for her I-130 so that it gets forwarded to CDJ. She is going to wait to send it until she knows when her interview in CDJ is for the I-129. Anyways, I am rambling now.

Stephanie: That is great news about your friend. It doens't surprise me either that they give out the wrong information. We all know too well about getting the wrong information about immigration.

Things went well at the SS office and the DMV. Javier only missed two signs and he said he knew what they were he just couldn't remember them in english. So he got his new DL. The lady at the SS office was a little rude in my opinion. She kept asking questions about Javier's docs. Then she said, we will run them through the computer and "if" everything is real, he will get a number. As if we had forged the documents or something. It just really infuriates me how people act towards Mexicans in this area. I am sure there won't be anything wrong and we should get his card in about 2-3 weeks.

I feel a little better today but not much. Sorry I had taken a vacation day already for this day at work because I could have just called in sick this morning and taken a sick day instead.

There is a girl over on I2US (Melissa 30) whos spouse's stuff also had to go through the CDC. I just mentioned that I knew of someone from another forum who also had to do that and she has lots of questions. I think she just turned in her waiver last month and was told by the CDC that it will take 3 months at the CDC before they give clearance to go to DHS. Is this true? If you have a second sometime, could you PM her over there maybe with your experience?

Charity...glad everything went o.k at the DMV and SSA office. Does he have his license now then? Did he have it before and it just expired? Anyways, hope you are feeling better.

Sorry the SSA lady was ignorant and racist. That totally sucks. When that happens, I just think to myself...but my husband is so much better than who they have to go home to! after a couple of expletives, of course.

Stephanie: Javier's license was due to expire on his birthday. He is so upset. He thought it would say he is 21 but it says in big letters on it, Under 21. I had to explain to him that at this time, he is still under 21. They will just have to go by his birthdate.

There are a lot of people around here that have the same idea as the lady at the SS office. I get a little tired of it. She just better be glad I didn't feel good this morning or I would have had some good snappy comebacks.

I am not exactly feeling any better. The only thing different today is I am all stopped up instead of my nose running like crazy like it was yesterday. I really don't know, of the two, which I would rather have.

Charity….hope you have fun on vacation! It isn’t easy being in relationships. Enjoy this time together and try to forget about whatever upset you two for at least the weekend.

Miguel and I had a little moment last weekend and I am sure it won’t be the last. We are both firey, stubborn and think we are always right. We’ve got to learn to compromise…which I am sure we’ll get the concept of at age 75. Ha, ha. Until then, we just recognize we’ve got attitudes and try to work with them. God help our future children! Ha, ha.

Stephanie: It is indeed tough being in a relationship. Especially one where you were brought up so different. Javier and I are both very stubborn too. Neither of us likes to bend any. I think it will take us a while to get that one figured out too. I am sure we will have a good time. At least we will get to rest some and just do nothing. Glad to see Javier and I aren't the only ones having some readjustment issues. I am so glad we have each other to talk to and compare "war" stories with. It makes it nice to see we are still normal.

Hello girls! Happy Monday morning to you all! Javier and I had an awesome weekend. It's amazing what a little rest and relaxation will do for you. I hope everyone else had a good weekend too. Sorry it's back at it today. Maybe this week won't be so bad.

Good morning everyone. I missed you all. We had a great time in Mexico. Saw several movies, did a bit of shopping, Javier was thrilled to eat at Outback Steakhouse (his favorite restaurant). I got sunburned pretty bad and we searched store after store for some aloe gel.

And, it's as I told Charity last night, there's nothing like a trip to Mexico to make you feel like a huge fat ugly cow. All the girls down there are skinny and beautiful.

My favorite part of the whole time was the last night when we were out walking around and we found this little tiny lost puppy. She was so small at first we didn't even know what she was. She was very happy for the attention and I sent Javier off to find a police officer hoping they could call the animal control or something like that. Javier said they don't have anything like that there. Turns out he was wrong! So I was very happy to know that the puppy would have a place to sleep and some food.

We got a letter from the Senator (after I sent a request for a follow-up inquiry). Here is what it says:

I am enclosing a copy of an interim reply I received from the agency which I contacted on your behalf. As you will note, this matter has not been resolved and it will take some additional time before I receive a final response.

I have asked my staff to monitor your case closely and I will get back to you as soon as I have any additional information from the agency.


Here is the enclosed letter from the Department of State:

Thank you for your letter of January 18, that we received in this office on February 6, regarding a request you received from your constituent, (me), concerning the petition she has filed for her fiance, (Javier).

We received Ms. Roberts' correspondence and are forwarding your inquiry to the US Consulate in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico as they have the case file and can better respond to your constituent's concerns. You can expect a direct reply from the Consulate regarding this matter.

We hope this information is helpful in responding to your constituent.


So the conclusion I draw from this is...they don't get it and nobody knows what they're doing.

WHAT????? I don't think they get it either. That letter makes no sense what so ever. I thought the Advisory Opinion was to overturn the consulate's decision. If they are just contacting the consulate to find out their decision, what is the point? I am confused.

Ok you guys..I think I am going to lose my sister >I am going to have to tell her about her husband since she insists on him going with mr to pick up my husband.
I don't know what else to do.I have told her repeatedly that I can do this on my own and that Edgar and I would like to spend at least this time alone.Because as you know I care for my father who lives with me and Joshua ,so we will need at least this time alone .
But she insists and insists.Because she hears of what goes down in Juarez she is terrified of me going by myself.(Little does she know that the danger will be in the same truck as me)I have told her that there are 2 girls whom I met here in this forum(ELVIA) and (GLU from I2US)but she says "How can you trust these people whom you don't know personally"?
So...I am afraid she won't believe me and think its a ploy to go by myself.And I will lose her as my sister for sure.
Like I mentioned before she does not and will not believe unless she sees it for herself.My God from my whole family ,shes all I have left.
Why does the happiest day in my life have to be so complicated?
I don't have anyone else I could ask to go with me and I really want to go alone .

Marta, I also went into Juarez by myself. It's not really all that scary. I however am of the opinion that you ought to let your sister know the reasons why you want to go by yourself. Anyway, in the end you'll be making that decision for yourself. They can't force you in a vehicle with the guy.

Marta: I think you need to tell your sister. I know you don't want to lose the last family you still have but you don't want something bad to happen to you either. I would certainly not get in a car with him to travel the distance you must travel. I would be afraid of what he may do. You never know, he may see this as his last chance before Edgar gets back. I just think it would be in your best interest to tell her and go by yourself. It's like Melissa said, you are the one making the decision. If you don't want him to go with you, leave without him. They can't force you to take him with you. I think Edgar would appreciate you making that decision also.
