Good Morning everyone!
Well today marks the 4th month since cdj entered our waiver into system. And 4 months since dhs entered waiver into system (Nov.1,2005)
But I am afraid to call and check on it.
I desperately want to check but I can't get my fingers to dial the number.
I know that all waivers aren't approved within a 4 month mark.
But I noticed that most of you found out within that timeframe.Should I wait til next week?Should I call now?
EEny meeny miney moe.........
Have a fantastic Friday !!!!!!

Hiiii Ladies...My husband just called me at work and said the SS office called him and told him to com eto the office to sign his application beacuse they have the info from immigration now to go ahead and process his number.....woooohoooooooooo

Candy...yeah!!!!!!!! Hopefully any day now his number will be arriving in the mail!! My husband is still job hunting...seemed like it was easier when he didn't have status

Maybe he is more picky now. He has a great seasonal job that starts every April and is exactly what he loves to do....but just to get to April is hard.
Charity...when can you send in an application to remove conditions? Is is 90 days before your 2nd year wedding anniversary or is it 90 days before his 2 year greencard expires? Just curious.
Marta...if you call, good luck. My friend turned hers in CDJ at the end of October but DHS said it wasn't entered into the system until the end of November. She plans on calling at the beginning of March. It is hard to guesstimate which date they go by and if they are behind. Whatever you choose, don't let them ruin your weekend!

Hey everyone!
Candy-Hope the SS Card will arrive soon!
Steph-Hope Miguel finds a job. I think most of them will be more picky now that they're "legal." Of course, all along Javier's been telling me how he can't wait to go back to restaurant work.
Hi to everyone else!
No news on our side yet. Just hoping something happens soon.

Feb 3 2006, 01:53 PM
Marta I think you need to call DHS and find out about the waiver...call...call....calll
Lupe is back from the SS office and he got a letter from them saying he will receive his card in 7 days....Is everyone having a great Friday??

Feb 3 2006, 04:36 PM
Stephanie: We can adjust status 90 days before his greencard expires. I wish it were 90 days from our wedding anniversary. We would fall under that category now. I just hope his greencard comes. I don't know what they will do about him not having pictures in his file. I hope it comes soon too so we can get his SS#. We need to refinance some things and need his number for that. Sorry Miguel can't find a job. Javier is going back to work on Monday for the same guy he worked for before he left. It pays really great money plus the guy is pretty decent to work for. He has other options but wanted to go back to him so I didn't argue.
Candy: I am glad Lupe will be getting his SS# soon. That is great!
Hope everyone else is having a good day today. I hope everything went okay with Benita and Alex. I can't wait to hear from her. I am so excited for them.

WHOOOO --- HOOOOOO.....GOT THE GREEN CARD IN THE MAIL TODAY!!!!!!!
Charity...the photo on the green card is the same one that is on the VISA inside the passport...so they probably have them on file?? I hope so...otherwise you'll have to visit the local USCIS office which would bite. Have you guys gone to apply for the SS card yet? Glad Javier is going back to work soon. We think Miguel got a job too, at a temp agency. Which is fine. April will be here before we know it.
take care everyone and hopefully we'll hear soon from Benita!

Feb 4 2006, 11:26 AM
No we haven't been yet. I thought we had to wait for his greencard to come. I guess I was wrong. What do we have to take with us when we go to the SS office? If we can go now I will take a day off of work next week and run down there. It is about 2 hours away. Well if the photo on the greencard is the same as the visa then we should be okay. It was the print that was on the paper on top of his package. I think they must have it in the system somehow. We should be okay then.

Okay thanks! I just wish I had asked sooner so we could have gone this week while I was off. Now I am going to have to ask for another day off to go to the SS office. I hope my boss won't mind.

Feb 5 2006, 10:23 AM
Hey Charity....I hope your boss doesn't mind too. When we went on Monday it was complete insanity but it was also in Minneapolis. I don't know where the office is you'll have to go to but if you find one that isn't so busy, I'd reccommend it so you won't be there too long. Here is the link for SSA application. We brought his passport with the VISA, the filled out application, his license and his birth certificate...though they didn't care about the license or the birth certificate since all the info was in his passport.
http://www.ssa.gov/online/ss-5.pdfWhen we went they said Miguel was already in the SAVE system and maybe that is why he got his number so quickly, who knows. I frankly was surprised it arrived so soon (and so were my parents who work for SSA). Either way, they will give you a letter that says "this applicant has applied for a number, blah, blah" and technically Javier can show that letter to his employer if they have any questions about his SSN. That letter is supposed to serve as a receipt and proof of applying for a number and should allow him to start working.
Glad Javier is home!!

Does it seem real yet??

Marta: We finally made it to Monday. Good luck on calling DHS today. I hope you get some good news. I know how I felt when I was going through that. Just know it will all be over soon.
Stephanie: Thanks for all the information. The SS office sends a representative to our town every week. I think I am going to try and find out when they do that so we can just go here. That way I won't have to take the whole day off. I just hope they have him in the system already. I am so glad he is here. It hasn't really sunk in yet. It still doesn't seem real. I can't believe I can actually go home today and he will be there waiting for me. YIPPEEE!!!!!

Good morning everyone. How about them Steelers? Altogether, good outcome to the game-sucky halftime show and suckiER commercials. Oh well.
UPDATE: Received a letter from Senator Mikulski's office on Saturday. It says they contacted the State Department on January 18 and requested that our case be handled promptly. The State Department has 30 days to respond, if they do not, I can submit another request for an inquiry to the Senator's office. Evidently the Senator's office thinks they're going to receive the results, and they claim they will notify me after the results have been "received and reviewed."

IS THAT CRAZY OR WHAT???tHEY DO THESE EXTENSIVE BACKGROUND CHECKS ON PEOPLE WANTING TO COME TO THE US AND MAKE THEM GO THROUGH HELL AND LOOK AT WHAT ONE OF THEIR OWN WAS CAUGHT DOING.HE WAS GOING TO THE HOUSE TO MEET WITH A MINOR CHILD.........ARGHHHGHHHHH..........

So we are going to the SS office on Wednesday. Hopefully that will give them enough time to get him in the system so we don't have any setbacks of any kind. I don't want to have to take another day off from work to go back down there again.
Stephanie and Elvia: What was the code Black? I wanted to stay up and watch the show but I have to go to bed. I am getting too old to stay up that late. I have stayed up and watched some of it before but never the whole show. It is a really good show. I just can't bring myself to stay up that late to watch it. I am in bed by ten at the latest most nights. What a old woman I am?!?

The thing was someone had shot himself with a bazooka but it never exploded. So the ambulance tech's hand was stuck in this guy's gaping wound and they were afraid if she took her hand out it would shift the bazoka bullet or whatever and it would explode. Eventually she freaked out and took her hand out but it didn't explode. To be continued...

G.A....and right when the ambulance tech took her hand out, Dr. Grey put her hand in so it wouldn't explode. Alright now I'm going to let you all in on just how weird I actually am. I believe in "signs"-basically that God presents physical signs to you of what's going to come to help you understand what the outcome's going to be. Well, I've had this feeling about NEXT Thursday, the 16th, for a long time. It will be exactly 9 weeks from the date we sent in the Advisory Opinion. My little page a day calendar for that day says "You're on your way to a spot at the top." I think that will be the day. Does that sound completely weird or what??
I spoke to Benita a couple nights ago and she and Alex are safely back home with Emily! I can't believe we forgot to post this. And I don't know where she is now! But yeah, they're home!

This is pretty cool and interesting. I just used Excel to calculate how many days we've been in "immigration" so far. As it turns out, from the day we sent in our I-129F (July 27, 2005) to today has been 194 days. Which in reality is not all that long. Just thought that was interesting.
