Melissa : Your advisory opinion will be approved. good.gif

I think we are seriously thinking about the 2 bedroom... it is only $120 more per month. We will have to see it first.
Traviesa
I sent them another e-mail. I wasn't going to do it, but then I decided...what the heck? What could it hurt? The worse thing they could do is tell me it was denied. Or that it's still in process.
Bootylicious
Okay that is what I clicked on. It doesn't give me the choice to make a user name. It says my email address is my user name. I give up. Just register me and tell me what my user name is.

Benita: Go for it. $120 more a month is not bad for a whole other room.
Traviesa
Can't make it work. It's too complicated. I almost got through but then it asked me to click on the object in the white box. Well, it was obviously something flash-related because nothing showed up in the white box for me to click on.
Bootylicious
Oh well. Maybe we should just start our own thread in off topic about it. There are other threads like that over there. Whatever you want to do.
Traviesa
I'm sorry to announce that despite my second e-mailing, I didn't hear anything back about the Advisory Opinion. I guess my feelings about today were wrong. sad.gif
Bootylicious
Maybe not. Maybe they made their decision but just didn't email you. You will hear something soon. When you least expect it.
ashleydpinzon
hey there!

now you see it?

helpsmilie.gif I need help. I have a friend (Tracy) she just found out she is pregnant. She wants to tell her husband in a special way. They have 2 other children a boy (Jake 7yrs old) and a girl (Hannah 3 yrs old). She wants to write on t-shirts for the children. I need to know the exact way to write in spanish. I'm going to be a big brother and I'm going to be a big sister. She is going to make him translate it into english or she may write out the translation on the back of the shirt. If anyone knows any other really good ideas for breaking the news, she is open to other ideas. THANKS biggrin.gif

Ashley: What are you talking about????
Bootylicious
Ashley: I was wondering the same thing!!

Benita: Sorry I don't have any suggestions. I am not very creative when it comes to these sort of things. The t-shirt idea sounds great to me. good.gif
chagalafamilia
Charity-- What do you mean you are not creative? I thought you were the next Martha Stewart. biggrin.gif You mean that you have nothing planned for the future when you have to tell Javier there is a bun in the oven? See, you could just put a bun in the oven. Or you could put a pillow under your shirt, and ask him if he could get used to you with a bump? Or you could get a fathers day card.
I guess there are probably a million ways to do it. With Emily I just showed Alex the pregnancy test. He was pretty sure I was pregnant anyway, he probably knew my cycle better than I did.

Benita: Last time when I found out I was pregnant I had a feeling and we had talked about it. I took the test and Javier was in the kitchen. I just came running out of the bathroom yelling, I'm pregnant, I'm pregnant. He said, "You're kidding me, right?" It was very unexpected. Too bad it didn't work out. I don't know what I will do next time. I will probably try to come up with something.

Hi girls! Buenos Dias!
she could write Voy a tener un(a) hermanito(a) (I am going to have a baby brother/sister) or Soy el primero de tres and for the little girl soy la segunda de tres....
Maybe she could get his co-workers involved and congratulate him thoughout the day.... then deliver a baby arrangement in the afternoon.... just ideas!!

Hey guys I was trying to lead a friend of mine to the forum and they had a hard time getting there! i was asking if they seen an elmo a poohbear and my name!
Bootylicious
OH! Okay! I was a little confused. I thought we were supposed to be seeing something.
ashleydpinzon
you mean you couldnt see it ???? LOL tongue.gif
Bootylicious
No I couldn't see it. I thought I was losing my mind or maybe that you were losing yours. laughing.gif laughing.gif

Glad it was neither. good.gif

Hey everyone! I've been busy busy busy this morning. Still no response from Legal Net. Depending on whether or not they'll count last Thursday in the number of "working days" they should reply today to the first e-mail I sent. If they counted last Thursday (the day I sent it) today will be the 7th working day. If they don't count Thursday, it will probably be Tuesday since Monday's a holiday.

Benita, I don't have any cute suggestions but I like the ones already mentioned.

Ok now I need some ideas. I need to get Javier something for his birthday. I don't know what to get him. It needs to be something small so I can pack it, and also needs to be something useful. I had considered a watch but he already has like a thousand watches. What could he use in Mexico? I also had considered a pocket knife but he's already got the monster of all pocket knifes.
ashleydpinzon
Melissa when tacho went to mexico I sent him personal items , candy , and stuff like that . He was tickled he ended up giving his shampoo to his mom, cause when he got back he said where did u buy that? my mom wants some more. gifts I have no clue!
Traviesa
Yes, he always makes a list of things for me to bring him when I come down...usually socks, white undershirts, razor blades, etc. This time is no exception. I ALWAYS bring him a box of Nilla Wafers. They're his favorite cookie. But I still need a gift..........
ashleydpinzon
Does he have a nice camera?
Traviesa
You know what, Ashley....he doesn't have a camera! And that's an awesome idea....Except based on Charity's experiences, there is no way I'm bringing a nice new camera anywhere near my suitcase or an airport...I'll bet you all didn't know "photography equipment" is not claimable if they lose your luggage.
Bootylicious
Yeah, neither is jewelry, samples, irreplaceable business papers, or electronic equipment. So there goes my chance of getting any money back for the stuff that was stolen from me. I would only take a camera if it were in my carry on bag. I sure wouldn't put it in my checked baggage.
ashleydpinzon
well it doesnt have to be a really expensive one or take it w/ your carry on bag

I sent tacho disposable cams and i really enjoyed seeing the pics!
Bootylicious
Ashley: That was a really good idea. I tried to get Javier to do it but he didn't think there was anything interesting enough to take pictures of. He had his cellphone which is a camera phone so he has some pictures on there. They are pretty neat. I wish I could have gotten him to do the disposable camera thing. It would've been neat to show the pictures to our kids one day. Oh well to late now.
Traviesa
Well you guys I'll have to take pictures because I'll be taking Flat Stanley with me to Mexico. My friend got sent Flat Stanley by a niece so we decided Flat Stanley's going to visit Mexico. But I usually use disposable cameras. Even though I have a digital camera. I never use my digital camera. Just seems too complicated to get the pictures off of it.
ashleydpinzon
Well i havent met his family so he took pictures of them and then some of the Basilica in mexico city.

So I went to this first time home buyers class last night. There are two more I still have to go to next week. I am so pumped at the prospect of being able to be a homebuyer! Of course we have $0 saved for a down payment (immigration took all of that) and a bit of credit card debt (thanks again to immigration) but there are sooooo many programs and grants out there just waiting to be tapped. We have been in our one bedroom apartment 4.5 years and are sooooo ready to have something of our own. I hoping we’ll be able to buy something this year. I am not adverse at all to share a room with our future kid, but I just want to be able to sit outside in a backyard and drink gin and tonics and have it be my place. When I do that on the front yard of our apt building, I look like a lush. We live on a super busy street in the middle of the city and too much exhaust gets in my drink for my liking. Ha, ha.

luv.gif Stephanie you will have to remember all of this information in a year so take alot of notes. When I come back from CDJ I plan on also buying a home. SOOOOO innocent.gif take plenty of detailed notes!! ohmy.gif What do you and Miguel want in terms of bedrooms and square footage? Now I don't know about being a lush (yeah right) but if I was your neighboor I for sure would have some drinks in the front of the apts. LOL
ashleydpinzon
yeah take lots. im buying a trailer but its fallen apart so buy the time I pay it off maybe you could help me get a grant so that i can build a house on the land.
Bootylicious
We already have a house. It was built from scratch when I was married to my first husband. It needs some work but with Javier's building background he can do it all. It's nice having a house but it is a lot of work. I hope you find something in your price range that you really like.
mnmex
I know each state is different with grants and loans, etc. But I am totally taking notes and they give you a whole binder with information and also have individualized homebuyer counseling for free. It is all through a non-profit organization here. I just went online and looked for first time home buyer stuff in MN and came up with all this info. It is out there ladies! As far as square footage, I don’t know. I am not too picky. If it is only two bedrooms with an unfinished basement that is o.k. because we could always add more in the basement and the house would be valued more later. We are for SURE staying in the city. I am such a city girl. I figure our first house isn’t going to be great anyways and we probably won’t stay in it more than 5 years too. I’m sure we’ll outgrow the house before the mortgage is paid off. The best thing about Minneapolis is whoever laid the city out long ago was way into parks. There is a park every 12 blocks or so, so having a huge yard with amenities isn’t a must because you can always just go to the park down the street. And there are tons of lakes too. As long as the yard has room for a lawn chair and a table for my drinks and People magazine. Ha, ha.

I’ll keep you guys updated. I am hoping we’ll buy sometime this summer but $$ wise, who knows. I figure homebuying is like child rearing (neither of which I have ever done so clearly I am no expert on this) but I think if you wait around until you are 100% ready you’ll never do it. Because both are such a huge financial and emotional commitment, you can never be 100% ready. So we’ll just take the plunge and hope for the best!

crying.gif I want a house. crying.gif
Bootylicious
I'll sell you mine. I would love to build another house. I could do everything the way I want them instead of the way someone else wanted them. Javier is completely opposite of my ex. He would spend his last dime on fixing up the house and my ex wouldn't spend a dime on the house. I would love to be able to build a house with Javier. It would be awesome. Since he builds houses for a living he would be able to do a lot of the work himself and he could take extra care to make sure it was done right. Something that wasn't done with the house we have now.

This may be silly, but what about a Maglite flashlight or one of each size? I've taken these to Mexico before and it's always been really appreciated. They are like 3-4x as much down there, and everyone can always use a good flashlight. I've given my FIL, husband, BIL all various sizes of these before and they use them like crazy. If you got him an assortment of the sizes, it might make a nice gift without being too expensive. Farm&Fleet is the cheapest place to buy them around here, if you have one of those.

Hey.I don't know if I mentioned the reasons as to why my husband was deported but my family don't like "WETS" as they call him.But anyway I had 3 brothers and 2 sisters. All of whom don't speak to me at all except my older sister. She has helped me with so much. She and her husband my cuniado loaned me the $$$ to pay my att and for all the filing of my hubby's petitions well anyway she is all I have.I care for my father who is diabetic and has congestive heart failure and she helps me with him at times when I need a break.Anyway I don't want to lose my relationship with my sister but I don't know what to do.
After they loaned me the money they were so helpful and told me that whatever I needed help with to let them know.Well,my cuniado lately has been telling me that he is going to charge me interest(if you know what I mean). He calls me all them time and tells me that I owe him .He has e-mailed me pics of his private parts (which stupid of me had them deleted as soon as I saw what they were)I have no proof now of this at all.
He calls constantly and tells me that he wants oral sex.I want to tell my sister but I am afraid she won't believe me.Years back he did this to another woman and she didn't believe it then.People have told her so many things about him but she says that until she sees with her owns eyes she will stand by him.
I don not want to lose my sister she is all I have left of my family and I love and respect her alot.
What is so scary is that he went with me once when I had to go to Juarez and since I will probably have to go back my sister has already told me that under no circumstance will she let me go alone ,that her husband will take me.She can't go with me cause she cares for my baby and father when I go.
I don't know what to do.I know that if I tell her she will hate me and not believe me.What do you all think I should do?I don't want to tell Edgar this either. He would probably come back across and destroy any chance we have of getting him home legally.
I just don't know what to do.What do you think?I don't have anyone else to talk to about this and its too humiliating to go to l my priest and ask for his opinion.
ashleydpinzon
buy a recorder and record him. or completely ignore him and tell your sister you are going to cdj alone or take a friend!

Candy, I could not have said it better myself.

Buenos dias a todas mis amigas! My first couple of days/nights at the new apartment have been WONDERFUL! Of course, Kyle was an idiot while I was moving out, but that's to be expected. I'm very happy with the place! I thought I was getting sick last night because I had this terrible headache and it was in my sinuses, but this morning I woke up feeling fine! Can't believe in just a few days I'll be off to Mexico to see my sweetie!!
Bootylicious
Melissa: I am glad you are feeling better today. See your ticker says you are leaving in 4 days. I wonder how it gets off like that. That's how mine was. It was off a day, I think. Anyway, glad you are going to get to see Javy soon. I know you are super excited. I hope you have a good trip.

Well we still haven't gotten Javier's greencard. Of course it won't come today since the PO is closed. I called the USCIS # this morning before I came to work. It was an automated system and it said if you had received your Welcome letter and it had been 30 days and you still had not received your PR card to press # so and so. I figured there wasn't any need in me going any further since it hasn't been 30 days. I figured the first thing they would ask me is how long has it been. Oh well I guess we will just wait.

Hope everyone has a good day today. kicking.gif kicking.gif

Second Welcome letter???? I didn't know there were two letters. Or do you get another letter with the greencard? I just wish it would hurry and come since we had the issue with the photos. I am afraid they have messed us up. If we could just get the card in the mail I would feel so much better. I wouldn't be worried about it if it weren't for those darn pictures that weren't in his file.

My day started off lovely, I called to check if Alex had been added to my insurance and it did not have him listed. So I called HR and they sent me an e-mail from Anthem stating that since the Visa is a temporary document granting permission to visit and not permenant that they can't consider that a qualifing event and can't add him. So I can't even fight it because Anthem is closed today. We go to the lawyer tomorrow to file AOS and EAD, maybe I can fax those documents so that they know that we are working on permenant residency. They will probably want a NOA from USCIS, I don't know how long that takes--hopefully less than 2 weeks. How can they consider 2 years temporary? DORKS. mad.gif

Melissa--Glad you like your apartment. And I bet you are so excited to see your Javier. biggrin.gif

Bad thing we just bought groceries like an hour befor eit happened! and tacho got a ticket and we are totally broke!
