Benita…that would be a cute Halloween costume. You sure plan ahead. So do you like the new apt? How is the layout in this one? I imagine Emily and babe #2 will share a room?

The new apartment is OK, I am sure when we get settled in it will be better. Here is the layout at least for now. There is a storage area (where Emily's armoir is located), that I am thinking of finishing for a small nursery. It has 2 walls finished it just needs to be drywalled on the other 2. I could even just paint out the plywood and 2x4's with white paint, make it look like those sunrooms and hang some kites from the ceiling. THen I would not be spending money on a rental. Emily is up with us still, only because we don't want her to be downstairs by herself yet. The bad thing about the stairs is that since I am pregnant I tend to forget things and have to run up and down them all evening, but it is good exercise.

Benita: She is too cute. I just love her. I'm talking about Emily, not Boo. You need to show us the layout for the new apartment. I can't wait to see this new baby. I bet it will be just as cute.

Elvia: Sorry you have been so busy. I hope it slows down a little for you so you can come back and play with us.

Benita: You got the layout posted before I could get my request in for you to post it. Boy your good. It is very nice. I like the layout of it. It would be hard running up and down the steps. Our house is one story but the washer and dryer are downstairs in the garage. It is a pain hauling that basket up and down the steps. Most of the time I can get Javier to do it because he doesn't want me to fall down the steps. He thinks it is dangerous for me to haul that big basket up and down the stairs. It's kinda sweet.

Oh that is a much bigger place but I understand about not wanting Emily downstairs yet especially when you get big going up and down when she cries. Making that space into a nursery is a good idea. Can you do those kind of changes? We are still looking to buy hopefully soon, probably around July or August. Having the biggest room (ours of course) on the same floor as at least one other will be a big selling point for me. Have you and Alex thought of any names yet? C’mon you gotta tell us!

p.s. what do you think all the "touches" mean on your stuff? Does it mean they are looking at it or that it'll be approved soon? just curious.

The "touches" may just be from the change of address we sent in, although I wish it would be for the EAD approval and the AOS interview. Heck maybe they will approve without an interview. I heard on the AOS topic sometimes they just send out an approval. That would be cool.

Alex just called and said Emily has been coughing, so I am going to go home and check on her. Just as well, since I closed my door. I was falling asleep anyway.

Charity: No I heard her coughing, it was from sinus drainage, so I gave her some benadryl to dry it up and this morning she was fine. Alex would sleep no matter what. He would just some toys out for her or put on Barney to keep her entertained. Funny though I get home and then I have to run out to fix a problem at his brothers work. Then end up bringing his lazy butt home and he and Alex take it easy all afternoon and evening while I (the pregnant one) run around, just does not seem fair. But I find it really hard to drop everything and just sit around. I tried to go to bed early and that did not work either.

Elvia: Si, Emily es mas bonita del mundo.

Benita: Well I am glad Emily was okay. Sorry you had to run around all evening. I thought maybe since you left work early you would get to go home and relax. I have found out relaxing doesn't really happen very much at my house. Javier always has something to do and something for me to do. We seem to run all the time. I was planning on having a nice relaxing weekend but Javier's truck is messing up again so now we have to take it to get fixed on Saturday. It's always something with us.

Ashley: I hope your knee is doing okay. Glad your surgery went well. How long do they think you will be off your feet?

Elvia: Yeah, we definitely need a plan. As you can see above, everything seems to be blowing up on us right now. We are still planning on doing the separate account thing for his truck payment. I don't know what we are going to do about that stupid credit card. Agh! It's so aggravating.

I e-mailed CDJ and this is what I got back......During this month we will be scheduling appointments for the cases that were received in April 2005. Your file was received in September 2005 and from that date it could take from nine to eleven months for an appointment to be available. We know that it is a long time but unfortunately there si nothing we can do but to wait. We are doing our best to get all the applications processed as soon as we can.

Elvia: I can't believe it is taking them that long. Maybe it won't turn out to be that long. Hopefully they will have decided something about the immigration stuff by then though. It may turn out to benefit you that it is taking so long.

US Senate reaches breakthrough on immigration reform

Washington - US senators said Thursday they had reached an agreement paving the way for a sweeping reform of the nation's immigration laws, including how to handle some 11-12 million illegal residents.

The deal is an attempt to bridge divisions between senators - Republicans as well as opposition Democrats - who proposed letting all illegal immigrants earn US citizenship eventually and hardliners who reject anything that smacks of an amnesty.

Senator John McCain, a key figure in the debate over immigration reform, said US President George W. Bush was expected to endorse the compromise later Thursday.

The deal would put illegal immigrants in three groups. Those who have been in the US for more than five years would be allowed to stay and have to fulfil the requirements from the bipartisan proposal.

Those who have been in the country for less than five but more than two years would have to leave, but would be allowed to re-enter as temporary workers with a chance to become US citizens in the future.

Illegal immigrants who have been in the country for less than two years would be required to leave, but could get in line with all other people hoping to work in the US.

If the bill passes, Senate negotiators will meet with leaders of the House of Representatives, which approved a much tougher version of immigration reform in December, to iron out differences.

Before Thursday's compromise, the liberal bipartisan plan would have allowed all illegal immigrants to earn citizenship eventually after a waiting period, the payment of a fine and back taxes, and a criminal background check.

It has been kinda crazy for me these past few days! But spring is here so I am much happier. Yesterday we went to the rally in St. Paul, MN. The newspaper estimates 30,000 people. Isn’t that awesome! It was very exciting to see all the energy. Let’s hope the politicians notice it too.

Yeah, let's hope. It sounded like things were going good there for a while but now it seems they hit a wall right before their 2 week break. I am not sure if they got anywhere or not.

I was out on Friday and have been swamped this morning trying to catch up. I have a laptop and 2 new desktop machines waiting on me. But thankfully we only have a 4 day week- closed for Good Friday.

Lucky you on your 4 day week. We have a full week this week and off Monday and Tuesday next week. Don't have any plans though because Javier still has to work. I might try and talk him into taking off one day. Hope you get caught up soon so you can come chat.

Ashley: Funny "Peregrina" is one of Alex's soaps as well. I don't ever get to sit down and watch it anymore, I am always running around cleaning up after Emily, cooking, etc.... However Alex usually finds time. Last time I sat and watched it she got hit with the knife in the show. LONG TIME AGO. Now she is living with her grandfather I guess. And by the way, what is the deal with that snot nose little pre teen brat (Evita) on the show? I bet Alex that the maid (Abigail) is her "real" mother.

That's hilarious. Javier watches that too. I don't. I can't get into those novelas. They are confusing to me since I can't understand them.

hope you all are doing well. I do not watch Peregrina so I am super LOST with who is who. But I have been hooked on novelas in the past. They are pretty good and FAST paced. None of this 75 yr run like US soaps.

A friend of mine has his second interview today in CDJ and he and his wife and baby girl are coming home!! They haven't been in the US since June. Their baby was born in Mexico while they were waiting out the waiver. I wish I could have waited with my man in Mexico but no use looking in the past. I probably would have gone crazy there but it is always nice to pretend everything would have been perfect!

Things are going pretty good here for us. Getting ready for spring and baseball (yes, my house is all about baseball). We are also planning a trip to NYC in July....ahhhh, it'll smell real nice in the middle of summer to see the family and for his cousin's daughter's baptisim.

I just want the warm weather to last forever. It was in the 70's yesterday. I almost forgot what it felt like to be warm outside!

Stephanie: The weather here is about the same. It is so nice. I love it. Glad things are going well for you and Miguel. I have the same thoughts about doing it over and staying in Mexico with Javier. Well we did have to spend about half of it on our little doggie. She had to have her shots and stuff. Then the rest of it just kinda disappeared. I am so mad at myself for doing that. Javier did do a rock job over the weekend so that money is definitely going on the card. It's just a mess. We have no self control when we go places. We need to be put on house arrest so we can't spend money. I will pm you with the low down on our stuff if you want me too. I don't want to bother you if you are busy with Dante. Just let me know.
