We got our NOA2 on the 19th Dec, and it has been a month now. We learnt that the waiting time for the NVC processing is around 1 month, so my BF called the NVC a few days before but he was put on hold for such a long time that he hang up the phone finally. Then I emailed the NVC inquiry asking about the status of our case a few times with no replies at all. My BF called the NVC again yeterday using the automated voice service and was told that our file is not in the system? Wow, what does that mean? Does that mean our file has been sent out to Guangzhou Consulate China? or does it mean it still hasn't arrived at NVC yet? Is there any possibilities that it got lost? What shall we do now to track our GUZ#?

Anyway, I don't know whether it happened to any of your guys before for your P2.5, so if you have experienced the same thing, please share it with us. Thanks a lot.

It means it has not arrived at NVC yet. Sadly, the USCIS California Service Center is not the quickest at forwarding approved petition to NVC. It took a month for ours to arrive...but once it did it was at the embassy within a week. Keep checking with NVC, they will also send you a letter once they process your petition.

When the petition is sent to GZ then you will get a letter in the mail stating so. One month is not a cause for alarm at this point.

Let me tell my story:

My petition was approved 13-Dec-2007. Received NAO2 Dec 17. NVC sent letter to Ghuangzhou on Dec 20, 2007 per telephone discussion and letter with GUZ case number. 3-5 days DHL shipping - supposedly. Sound good? Not really. Guangzhou verbally told me it takes 2-4 months to get through Chinese customs. Told to call back in 2 months to see if arrived yet - February 15th or so. I do not know if true. Also, Ghuangzhou website says 3 months after NAO2 until they receive and process. DO I believe? Still more. They then do background check. Takes 3-5 months to send packet three with forms to fiancee after receipt of NVC papers. Then packet 4 later.

There is a serious problem with disconnects and divergent information with what I am finding for answers. This website says 134 days from consulate receiving package to interview. Do not see how. Average 34 days from NAO2 to papers at consulate - obviously not applicable to China visas with consulate saying 3 months - read 90 days. Do not bother filing form for 3 or 4 months after NAO2 if consulate does not have. Oh, and consulate will not answer any emails until they have your NVC paperwork.

So, for Chinese immigrant:
1. 3 (or is it 2-4?) months for papers to get to consulate from NVC, 2. 3-5 months to schedule interview, and 3. 1 month from scheduling to appointment. 7-9 (6-10?) months using old fashioned math before possible immigration becomes real for any of us.

Think I am frustrated? You bet. Anybody have real live data? I just figured this data out yesterday and I have been depressed as h_ll! Told my fiancee, she actually is taking it better than me. I actually asked her to find out what it would take for me to immigrate to her country. Talk about me being more than a little angry. I understand security, I have had security clearances most of my life, but we are giving up freedoms here, and no one seems to care.

I'd give NVC a couple more weeks before calling again. When the case finally leaves NVC, don't expect to hear from the Consulate for at least two or three months.

I am new this and this is my first response.

I just wanted to try to help as much as I can to show you where I am at.

Received our I-797C, Notice of action on December 21, 2007
then we received our letter from NVC on January 17, 2008

It then went on to say that within a week the petition will be forwarded to the appropriate visa-issueing post where our visa interview will take place. (Guangzhou)

On the bottom it states that my fiance will soon receive a packet with instructions from the consular section on how to apply for the K1 visa at the post and what documents will be required.

I emailed them on January 23rd to find will the petition that was to be forwarded at this point. I am now awaiting for the answer.

Yes, that's the standard procedure. Please note that "soon" is a relative term that for Guangzhou means two or three months.
