a letter in my mailbox from my local SSN office , totaly supriced me since they dont bother answering the phone , it sais to to give it 2 weeks if I dont have the SSN by then to go back to the office with the letter ( the letter sais you can use your SS card for work only if you have authorization from DHS , so my guess is that it might have the only with work authorization sticker on it ?
but oh well at least its on its way , and i can get that removed once my EAD is aproved smile.gif

If you want to know the number you can go back into the office now if you don't feel like waiting for the card. It's not a sticker, it's printed on the card and you need to be a permanent resident to be issued an unrestricted card.

You have to have your green card to have the restriction removed.

I-551 card (green card) or stamp

RM 00203.410 Evidence of Alien Status for an SSN Card for an Alien Lawfully Admitted for Permanent Residence:

http://policy.ssa.gov/poms.nsf/lnx/0100203410

A conditional resident alien is an alien granted a 2-year period of permanent resident status based on (1) a “qualifying” marriage to a U.S. citizen or national, a permanent resident or (2) qualifying as an alien entrepreneur. A conditional resident alien has the same INS documents as an LAPR except that the I-551 expires after 2 years. For enumeration purposes conditional resident aliens are treated as aliens lawfully admitted for permanent residence.

I'll tell you now DO NOT DO NOT give up your SSN card until you get the new one. Tell them the dog ate it. LOL
